Chapter 90 The Necklace Was Given as a Meeting Gift
Thalia loved nothing more than taking down women who were scheming and manipulative.
It was the only way to calm the hatred in her heart.
Especially when it came to someone like Nora, who constantly opposed her, both openly and behind the scenes.
With such a golden opportunity right in front of her, how could she not seize it?
"Oh, look who it is—Nora! Still have time for a spa day, huh?"
Thalia's voice dripped with sweetness.
Nora was sitting with Linda, browsing the spa services. Hearing Thalia's words, she froze for a moment.
When she turned and saw Thalia, her expression shifted.
Nora noticed Thalia's makeup and vintage-style outfit, making her look particularly striking.
She had heard a few days ago that Thalia had landed the Wilson family advertisement. It seemed to be true.
Judging by her attire, she had probably just come from the shoot.
Nora turned slowly, leaning back in her chair as she looked at Thalia. "I can't come here? Is this Smith family territory?"
"Not exactly, but I heard your latest script got canceled. Shouldn't you be busy trying to fix that? How do you have time for a spa?"
Thalia walked over, leaning in with a sly smile. "Or do you have some other way to handle it?"
Nora leaned back, putting some distance between them. "What's it to you?"
"Nothing."
"But seeing you down makes me pretty happy."
Nora's face darkened, her gaze towards Thalia turning fierce.
Just as she was about to argue, Linda tugged at her arm.
In the treatment room, Nora was so angry her face was contorted. "If Thalia wasn't behind this, I wouldn't believe it."
"Getting canceled out of nowhere, and they hinted that we offended someone. Who did I offend?"
"It wasn't Thalia," Linda said calmly.
Nora didn't believe it. "If not her, then who?"
"Thalia is too focused on the inheritance issue right now. She doesn't have the time to pick a fight with you. The money in the entertainment industry is small change to her. Her family's inheritance is worth billions. Besides, her father is in a coma. Even if she wanted to mess with you, she'd need help."
"She can't get others to do it? She's the princess of Emerald City and a big shot in the entertainment industry. Messing with me would be easy. Whose side are you on?" Nora looked at Linda with displeasure, feeling like she was being betrayed.
Linda was exasperated. "I'm on Thalia's side, is that it?"
"If I didn't want you to be completely blacklisted, why would I pull you away? You should have argued with Thalia and gotten yourself blacklisted."
Nora deflated immediately.
She looked at Linda for a long time without saying anything.
After a moment of silence in the treatment room, Linda walked over to comfort her. "Don't worry, we'll have our day."
"Once Thalia's father dies, many will step on her. Even if we do nothing, we'll see her struggle."
Linda seemed to have a good handle on the Smith family's situation.
Nora was surprised. "How do you know all this?"
...
Meanwhile, Thalia had changed into a robe, chuckling softly. "I thought Linda would be the first to argue with me. Didn't expect her to hold back."
"She's got someone advising her."
"Who?" Thalia asked, not really concerned.
Layla rolled her eyes. "You really don't pay attention, do you? Linda's with Chase now. Everyone in the industry knows."
What?!
Thalia was stunned. "No way!"
"Chase must be desperate!"
"First, he was with college girls, then young women, and now he's with someone over thirty?"
Layla didn't want to discuss it further, giving Thalia a pointed look. "Thalia, you haven't made progress at work, haven't landed a man, the inheritance is still out of reach, and now you don't even know what your competitors are up to."
"Maybe you should forget about the man and the inheritance and focus on making money in the industry!"
Thalia pouted, looking at Layla with a bit of grievance. "But it's not easy to get a man."
"If you know it's hard, why waste time? Don't end up with nothing."
Thalia: ...
On the weekend, Thalia got up early and sent Isla to find Winter.
She instructed her to make sure to get the diamond necklace back.
She had bought that necklace for five million dollars, and it had likely doubled in value. She had given it to Walter when they were dating, and now she was taking everything back.
Otherwise, she'd be a laughingstock.
Winter hadn't rested well since Thalia mentioned taking the necklace back.
The problem was, Lyra had taken the necklace, and she hadn't returned. When called, she said she was abroad.
Early on the weekend morning, Winter heard the sound of a car in the yard and rushed out, seeing Lyra with her luggage at the door.
"Lyra, where's my necklace?"
Lyra was taken aback by Winter's urgency. "What necklace?"
"The one Thalia gave me. Mom said you took it to meet a client."
Lyra nodded, glancing at Quentin Hayes behind her. "I was just about to tell you. The client liked it, so I gave it to her."
Winter was shocked. "What? That was mine. How could you give it away without asking me?"
"Winter, I had no choice. Your brother and I have been working on this client for a long time. She finally agreed when she saw the necklace."
Winter was panicked. "You had no right to give it away! If you can't handle the business, don't get involved!"
"If you can't manage the company, stay out of it. Why give away my necklace?"
"Winter," Quentin's face darkened at her words. "We're all working for the family. If you like the necklace, we'll buy you another one."
Winter looked at Quentin with hatred. "That necklace was a birthday gift from Thalia. She wants it back, but you gave it away. What am I supposed to do?"
Lyra's face was grim.
She knew the necklace was from Thalia.
That's why she wore it to meet the client.
