Chapter 828 Thalia Cosplay
Chapter 828 Thalia Cosplay
"I thought you'd choose to keep fighting with me," William said, getting up to leave. As he walked past Harry and was about to brush by him, he heard Henry speak.
Gripping his phone, a light laugh escaped Harry. "A few years ago, maybe I would have."
"You should be grateful that Dione already took all the bullets for you before you came along."
"Otherwise..."
Who could guarantee he would still make the same choice he made today?
That day, Grace's company was holding its annual party in the evening.
Early in the morning, before dawn, she went to the bedroom and shook Thalia awake.
Thalia trembled all over from being woken up all of a sudden, opening sleepy eyes to look at Grace. "What's wrong?"
Grace was speechless for a moment. "Nothing. Just remember to come to the company's annual party tonight."
"Can I not go?"
"No, Thalia. You take tens of millions of dollars in allowance from me every year, and attending an annual party is too much for you? How about I cancel all your cards?"
Thalia's mind cleared up a bit, and she shook her head repeatedly. "I'll definitely go!"
In the evening, Thalia put on beautiful makeup and went to the hotel, only to be stopped by Grace's secretary, who pulled her into a lounge and handed her a fluffy mascot costume.
"Mrs. Smith said you should dress up as the mascot."
Thalia was stunned. "Are you kidding me?"
"Mrs. Smith said if you don't wear it, she'll cancel your cards tomorrow."
Thalia added, "Are you messing with me?"
The messenger only scratched their head awkwardly. "There's no choice! Mrs. Smith announced at the big meeting that at the annual party, the top salesperson can make any request. Recently, the company hired this amazing person who sold several hundred million dollars worth of equipment from the branch offices, and they made one small request to Mrs. Smith."
The secretary held up one finger with an embarrassed smile.
Thalia asked, "Make me cosplay?"
The secretary nodded frantically.
No wonder Grace had to wake her up so early in the morning—she was afraid Thalia would refuse once she was fully awake!
"No way I'm doing it!" Thalia turned to leave.
The secretary pulled her back miserably. "Ms. Smith, please have mercy! Mrs. Smith said if I can't handle you, I shouldn't come back next year. I have elderly parents and young children, plus cats and dogs too. If I lose my job, what will happen to my parents? What about my son? What about my cats and dogs? Please!"
"Aren't you unmarried?" She remembered clearly that Grace had praised this young woman for being remarkably sensible at such a young age.
"I have a bird, it's my son. Ms. Smith, please have mercy! Please! Please!"
"I won't..."
"Think about the tens of millions of dollars in allowance every year. Think about it—the top salesperson sold several hundred million dollars, and a quarter of that is yours. He's working for you! He's working himself to death to make you money. What's wrong with humoring him a little?"
Seeing Thalia gradually softening, the secretary continued. "Ms. Smith, let's just suffer for five minutes, just five minutes."
"Will I have to show my face? Will people know it's me?"
The secretary replied, "I guess so! Just show your face! There's nobody in this world as beautiful as you!"
"You just hold the bear head, shake his hand, tell him to keep up the good work, and next year he'll definitely be able to handle all the branch sales by himself. Over a billion dollars! That's a lot of money! Think how many bags you could buy!"
"Fine!" Thalia said through gritted teeth.
"I'll do it."
After changing clothes, Thalia reached the door and backed out again. "Do I really have to do this?"
The secretary answered firmly, "If you don't do it, I'll have to quit too."
Thalia put on the fluffy costume and was forced onto the stage, even walking the runway as the secretary had arranged beforehand.
The applause below was thunderous.
Everyone knew what the top salesperson had requested, so they were especially looking forward to today's event.
Finally, she took the microphone from the host. "Hello everyone, I'm Thalia."
"Can the top salesperson reveal himself? I wish to see who made such an outrageous request."
Someone in the crowd pushed the person forward—a young guy!
Pretty handsome too!
He had the vibe of a 19-year-old William.
"No wonder he's so good at making requests! Turns out he's quite good-looking."
"Ms. Smith, hello, I'm your fan. I've been your fan since your first year of debut. After graduation, I chose to join the Smith Group because of you."
"You're my fan and you still made me wear this? You must be a hater!"
Laughter continued below the stage.
"So being the top salesperson makes you something special, huh?" Thalia huffed as she took off the headpiece, holding the microphone in one hand and the bear head in the other as she walked toward him. "Come on, let's shake hands, let me get some of your good luck."
The young man shrieked, wiped his hand on his pants, then raised it and firmly grasped Thalia's palm.
"I didn't want to come today, but your boss said she wanted me to meet her own daughter, so I had no choice but to come."
"Top salesperson! In your boss's heart, you're closer than me, her own daughter."
The banquet lasted two and a half hours. Thalia simply didn't bother changing out of the costume. Holding the bear head and a wine glass, she cheerfully followed behind Grace, greeting people in the company, drinking—turning this into an unofficial company perk.
The secretary came over and quietly asked her, "Why are you drinking now? Weren't you afraid of being embarrassed?"
"Doesn't matter anymore."
As soon as the news of Thalia dancing in the mascot costume at the party got out, it was picked up by major media outlets. Isla seized this wave of traffic and worked with Grace's company PR department to make the most of it.
It really made netizens envious.
That night, the company's HR department's inbox was nearly bursting.
Meanwhile, on his way back, as William's car headed toward Mistwood Hill, Brian handed over his phone. "Mr. Brown."
"Mrs. Brown is trending."
"Why?" The man asked in a low voice.
Brian suppressed a smile. "I'll let you see for yourself."
