Chapter 82 William Finished Speaking, Then Kissed Again
When Isla and Finn entered the room, they checked each stall one by one but didn't see anyone.
"I already checked the stalls earlier, and nothing seemed out of place." Wait a minute...
"Thalia…"
Before Isla could finish her sentence, she saw Thalia lying unconscious in one of the stalls.
Half an hour later.
Angelina finally arrived after being stuck in traffic. The moment William saw Angelina, he quickly stood up, said a few polite words to the partners, turned around to give Angelina a few instructions, and left without looking back...
"What happened?"
Angelina glanced at Brian, who looked a bit uneasy as he spoke, "Mr. Smith is in trouble again."
The use of "again" was quite fitting.
Angelina had heard a bit about it. Ever since Hayden's health started failing, many in Emerald City were waiting to see her make a mistake.
The leading role she had secured was snatched by someone else.
The collaborating company suddenly changed their representative.
These situations had been happening frequently lately.
Angelina didn't ask much and entered the private room, taking William's place.
William hurried to the hospital just in time to see Amara finishing up an examination.
"How is she?" William's voice was urgent.
Amara pulled the curtain closed and looked at William. "She was drugged, but we don't yet know the components of the drug; it needs to be tested."
"Is it true that good-looking people have more misfortune? Why does it seem like Thalia is always ending up in the hospital? Should you get a VIP room here?"
"Do public hospitals need you doctors to generate revenue?" William shot a glance at Amara. "Where are they?"
"Finn went to pay the bills, and Isla went to get some fresh clothes for Thalia."
William felt a sense of relief hearing it was Isla and Finn who brought her in.
Finn pulled back the curtain to check on her.
Just as he did, Thalia slowly opened her eyes, looked at him, and her lips quivered as she weakly raised her hand, seemingly wanting to curse.
William quickly spoke up to clear his name, "It wasn't me."
"You're awake?" Amara almost burst into laughter hearing William's defense.
Amara pulled the curtain aside and stepped in, after a quick check, she said, "It really wasn't William. Isla said you were drugged in the restroom, and it was William who found you and brought you out. Thanks to Isla's timely discovery, the person who tried to harm you didn't succeed."
Thalia finally calmed down a bit after hearing Amara's explanation.
"William may have a sharp tongue, but he's not that bad."
Thalia tried to speak, but her throat was hoarse.
Even she was frightened, staring wide-eyed at Amara in terror.
What if she had lost her voice?
How could she continue her career in the entertainment industry? The purest female star in the industry becoming mute?
The thought was laughable.
Thalia's thoughts spiraled, and she felt wronged.
With Hayden dying, she would have no one to back her up. The women in the entertainment world who had long disliked her would certainly go to great lengths to harm her.
First, they would poison her voice, then ruin her face, then break her arms, and her legs.
Thinking about it, Thalia started crying...
Tears streamed down her face.
Amara: ...Nothing is scarier than a beautiful woman crying.
She reached out and pulled William, silently signaling him to comfort Thalia.
"Why are you crying?" William asked, confused. He was a straightforward guy and had never comforted a woman outside of the bedroom. Thalia's tears really stumped him.
Already feeling wronged, Thalia cried even harder at William's indifferent question.
Amara sighed internally. "It's over, William is hopeless. I need to tell Harper."
William just stood there, unsure of what to do.
As Thalia cried, she felt her throat clearing up, and the first thing she said was, "You're a jinx."
William's face darkened at her words.
"You can talk now?" Amara peeked through the curtain. She saw William sitting by the bed with a dark expression and followed up on Thalia's words, "William, she says you're a jinx, and you're still giving her a cold face."
Amara had already informed Harper about Thalia's hospitalization, and Harper took the day off to pack some things.
At 10:30 PM, Harper and Vaughn arrived at the hospital with some fruit.
"Amara, where's your brother?"
Amara, having anticipated Harper's arrival, pointed to a nearby room. "In there. What did you bring?"
"Some fruit. Is it okay for her to eat?"
"Yeah, it's fine." Since they didn't know what kind of drug Thalia had been given, they suggested she stay overnight to be safe and leave the next day if there were no issues.
"You wait here," Harper told Vaughn.
Vaughn pursed his lips, thought for a moment, and nodded. It didn't seem appropriate for him to go in.
When Harper entered, William and Thalia were in a standoff. Isla didn't dare stay in the room, fearing the tension would affect her, so she hid in the car.
Handing Thalia over to William, Isla felt reassured.
Harper immediately sensed the tense atmosphere upon entering.
William, hearing the door, turned and was surprised to see Harper. He stood up from his chair. "What are you doing here?"
"I heard Ms. Smith was in trouble, so I came to check on her."
"Ms. Smith, I brought some fruit and bird's nest. Would you like some?"
Harper spoke as she took out containers from the bag and placed them in front of Thalia. "I figured, being a celebrity, you would be mindful of your figure, so I didn't bring anything too high in calories."
Thalia looked at Harper, feeling that the woman didn't seem like a housekeeper from William's family. But she couldn't figure out their relationship.
"Thank you."
Harper smiled warmly at Thalia's gratitude. The elegance of the middle-aged woman, cultivated by years of reading, was flawless from any angle.
"She's gone, what are you staring at?"
"Your dad is really lucky."
"Thalia, can't you keep your mouth shut while eating?" William gritted his teeth.
Thalia acted like she didn't hear him and spoke earnestly, "I've figured it out."
"Figured what out?" William's instinct told him that nothing good would come out of Thalia's mouth, but he couldn't help asking.
"When I'm young, I need to enjoy life. When I'm old, I'll find a gentlemanly, cultured man to enjoy the peaceful years."
Before Thalia could finish dreaming, William grabbed her chin and brought her face close to his. He kissed her.
Thalia bit down on William's lip, startling him with the pain.
"What are you doing?" Thalia was furious.
"Getting rid of the trash in your head... I don't know what useless things you think about all day."
William said, then kissed her again.
Amara walked in to see this scene. She stopped mid-sentence...
