Chapter 72 Shouting Too Wildly...
At six in the morning, Thalia was still fast asleep.
She had been up until four, thanks to William's relentless demands. She'd only managed a few hours of sleep before her phone rudely woke her up.
Layla hadn't slept a wink all night. She knew the Wood family wouldn't stay quiet after Thalia's live stream. They wouldn't just take this hit lying down.
After all, Wesley had been in the business world for years and was a cunning strategist. What Layla hadn't anticipated was that they'd make a vulnerable, pregnant woman in the hospital come out and apologize.
Aria's live stream had been up for less than thirty minutes before it went viral.
"Rich heiress forces pregnant woman to apologize on live stream" was the headline everywhere.
Layla almost laughed out of sheer frustration.
"Get up and watch the live stream," Layla said, sitting in the conference room with her team, having stayed up all night to monitor Aria's live stream.
Thalia tried to speak, but her voice was hoarse.
Layla: "What's up with your voice?"
Thalia cleared her throat and managed to say, "Nothing."
"You sound like you were screaming too loud under some guy last night."
Thalia: ... Bullseye.
William had worn her out last night, leaving her in this state.
Thalia sighed, about to respond to Layla, when she felt someone move beside her. Anger flared up, and she kicked William out of bed.
William, half-awake, was suddenly wide awake, sitting on the floor looking up at Thalia in surprise.
"What was that noise?" Layla asked.
"What do you think?"
"Aria's live streaming an apology to you."
Thalia cursed, hung up the phone, and tried to open the live stream.
William, who had been kicked out of bed, stood up and looked down at her from the side of the bed.
Last night had been wild. Thalia had torn William's clothes to shreds, and his body was covered in scratch marks from neck to waist.
William stood there, completely naked, making Thalia avert her eyes guiltily. "It's early in the morning. Could you at least put something on?"
"Thalia..." William's anger was palpable as he glared at her.
Thalia awkwardly scratched her nose. "I'm not used to having someone else in my bed. Didn't mean to..."
William laughed at her excuse. "You can get used to having someone inside you but not in your bed? Thalia, think of a better excuse."
William snatched Thalia's phone, and when she reached for it, he tossed it onto the sofa.
"William, you call me 'darling' and 'baby' when we're in bed. But I kick you once, and you get mad? Were all those sweet words just an act?"
"You're accusing me of double standards? Aren't you the same?"
Daniel always said Thalia and William were a match made in heaven.
Thalia's accusation left William speechless.
Seeing him silent, Thalia wrapped herself in a blanket and got out of bed. "Stop pretending."
"Thalia, I'm not like you," William said, grabbing her arm as she passed by.
Thalia smirked. "How are you different?"
"Are you saying Mr. Brown is a man of deep feelings?"
Thalia opened the live stream on her phone. Aria's tearful voice made her curse under her breath.
The comments were even worse.
"No matter what, she's a pregnant woman."
"Ms. Smith must have a terrible temper to push a pregnant woman into the hospital."
"Boycott Thalia."
"A mistress is still a mistress. Going to the hospital doesn't make her a good person. What, does hospital disinfectant cleanse the soul?"
"A homewrecker, get lost. Stop pretending to be innocent."
"I heard this mistress played a video of them having sex at the engagement party. Who wants to see it? Press 1."
Immediately, a flood of viewers started pressing 1.
Thalia looked at the screen full of 1s, feeling a twisted sense of satisfaction. They wanted to play? She'd create fake accounts to curse them out.
Meanwhile, in the live stream, Aria's hands were sweating as she saw the flood of 111s. Wesley's people couldn't block them fast enough.
In Thalia's bedroom, William watched her sit on the sofa, scrolling through the live stream on her phone.
William reached for a pack of cigarettes on the nightstand, ready to light one.
"The bed linens cost sixteen thousand dollars. Double if you light up."
William: ...
His nicotine craving thwarted, William put the cigarette back.
He sneered. "Ms. Smith, your period stains on the linens and mattress have cost over a hundred thousand dollars. When are you going to pay up?"
Thalia: ... "Mr. Brown, do you have proof?"
William touched his lips and nodded. "I still have the sheets."
Thalia cursed inwardly: Pervert.
...
"William, I told you not to leave marks on me."
Thalia went to the bathroom and saw the hickeys all over her neck, feeling a headache coming on.
If Layla saw this, she'd never hear the end of it.
"Why don't you take a look at me? Should I go get a rabies shot?"
Thalia fumed.
She glared at William, put on a turtleneck, and went downstairs.
She saw Jada cleaning the leather sofa vigorously.
Thalia's mind buzzed.
Their first round last night had been on the sofa. It had been a mess.
Not just the sofa, even the dining table had suffered...
Thalia blushed, feeling embarrassed for once.
"Good morning, Ms. Smith."
Thalia coughed awkwardly. "Morning."
"Breakfast is on the dining table."
Thalia rubbed her forehead, feeling another headache...
William came downstairs and saw Jada cleaning. He glanced at Thalia, who was quietly eating breakfast, thinking, good thing Jada was here.
Otherwise, Thalia would definitely be cursing him out.
"Mr. Brown, breakfast is on the table."
"Don't eat. Move aside."
Thalia didn't even think before shouting.
Jada was stunned. What was going on? Hadn't they made up?
Last night's noises probably reached the neighbors. If she didn't have experience, she wouldn't have been able to handle Thalia's voice.
Telling William to go faster, then slower.
Almost like a conductor.
...
"Ms. Jolie, a case just came in. The team doesn't know if they should take it. Mr. Brown's phone is unreachable..."
