Chapter 63 You Got Thalia Pregnant?

Chapter 63 You Got Thalia Pregnant?

Thalia got sick on her second day on set. She filmed with a high fever and then fainted. Thalia was rushed to the hospital, which was a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Emerald City.

When Evelyn got the call from Layla, she lost it. "That damn William must have been cursed in a past life."

"What's your deal? If you're gonna drink, just drink. Why are you cursing people out?" someone in the circle piped up. They had organized a gathering, and both Evelyn and Daniel were there. When Evelyn got the call, she jumped up and started ranting about William.

"Why shouldn't I curse him? Is he your dad? Why are you defending him so much?"

Evelyn grabbed her bag, ready to leave. The ten or so people in the private room watched as Evelyn scolded Daniel, their faces full of curiosity, practically glued to the drama unfolding.

Feeling the heat of their stares, Daniel chased after her, clearly embarrassed. He caught up with her at the door. "What's gotten into you? Did you get rabies or something?"

"William pushed Thalia, who's on her period, into the pool. She got a high fever and fainted on set today. Why can't I curse him out? If his dad wasn't my college professor, I'd dig up his ancestors' graves! Now get away from me, or I'll break you."

Evelyn shoved Daniel away with all her might.

Have women these days all gone mad?

Daniel stood in the night wind, muttering a very dirty word under his breath, and called William. On the other end, William was having dinner at home.

As soon as the call connected, Daniel didn't care who picked up and started yelling. "You're such a jerk, pushing a woman on her period into the pool. Thalia has a high fever and fainted on set. Evelyn just got the call to go take care of her, and she looked like she wanted to kill me. You mess up, and I get the heat for it. Are you even human?"

After Daniel finished his rant, he caught his breath and heard a calm, older voice on the other end: "You pushed Thalia into the pool? Have I taught you nothing all these years?"

"Vaughn…"

Oh no. Daniel hung up, wishing he could vanish from William's world at light speed.

Vaughn, with his scholarly demeanor, had a high standing in the academic world and was extremely strict with William's upbringing. From when William was four or five, Vaughn had raised him alone, teaching him the principles of being a good person and how to conduct himself. It could be said that William turned out so upright because Vaughn had measured him with a ruler.

Daniel had known William since they were kids. He wasn't afraid of William's silence, but Vaughn always made him feel like he had many flaws.

In the living room, William had been chatting with Vaughn. In the kitchen, Harper called him to open a jar, and in that moment, Vaughn had picked up the phone. If it had been anyone else, Vaughn wouldn't have answered, but he picked up Daniel's call without thinking.

"What's wrong?" Harper asked, hearing Vaughn's angry voice from the living room. She peeked out, concerned.

"She's a girl, and on her period, you pushed her into the pool. What's that about?" Vaughn's voice was filled with frustration.

"Dad, I'm an adult. I'll handle my own issues," William replied, trying to stay calm.

"Is this how you handle them?" Vaughn shot back.

Harper, rarely seeing Vaughn so angry, turned off the stove and went to the living room, cautiously standing between them. "What happened? Can't you talk it out? William's grown up, runs his own company, and will be a husband and father one day. Ease up on him."

Vaughn, clearly displeased, looked at Harper. "I'm scolding him because he hurt a girl."

"What?" Harper was shocked. "Whose daughter? Is she alright? If necessary, we can go apologize in person. If it comes to it, marriage is an option…"

"Harper…" William sighed helplessly. "It's not what you think."

"Then what is it?" Harper looked at Vaughn, puzzled.

Amara came home from work, rubbing her neck as she entered the yard, sensing the tense atmosphere inside. "What happened?"

William, feeling helpless and exasperated, couldn't imagine what it would be like if he ever got Thalia. Would he still have a place in this family? "I'm going to see her."

Amara was stunned. "See who?"

Vaughn, almost cursing in anger, said, "Amara, you go with your brother."

"What? Okay!" Amara didn't dare defy Vaughn. Having just driven home, Amara got into William's car.

"Mr. Brown, where to?"

"The hospital near Emerald City Film Studio."

Amara: "What are we going there for?"

"To see Thalia."

"Dad just scolded you because you hurt Thalia, right?" Amara's eyes sparkled with curiosity, her face full of gossip.

William, with a headache, didn't want to talk. He had regretted it as soon as he saw the blood on Elon's clothes but couldn't swallow his pride.

"Did you get Thalia pregnant? Am I going to be an aunt?" Amara, thinking about it, was thrilled. "I'll go to the maternity ward tomorrow to learn about obstetrics."

Finn: "Oh no, another one has gone crazy."

"Will your and Thalia's child take your surname or hers? Thalia's family is wealthy. Will they want the child to have her surname? If you feel embarrassed, just endure it for now and get her first…" Amara began fantasizing about a beautiful family future. It felt like she'd been waiting for Thalia and William to get married for a long time.

"Amara, shut up or get out," William felt his brain buzzing lately. It was driving him crazy.

Finn: "This feels all too familiar."

Amara obediently shut up, not daring to speak.

Evelyn and William arrived one after the other. In the hospital room, Evelyn barely started scolding William when the door opened.

"Why are you here? Did Daniel call you?" Evelyn looked at William, furious.

Amara, sensing the tension, half-hugged and pushed Evelyn out. "Ms. Thomas, let's go ask the doctor about Thalia's condition. Come on, come on…"
