Chapter 507 Thalia Stood on Tiptoe and Kissed William's Chin
Thalia scrambled to her feet and checked on Amara and the shop owner, relieved to see everyone only had minor scrapes on thier body.
Only then did she look at the pickup truck...
Seeing the man in the driver's seat slumped over the steering wheel, blood streaming from his forehead, and apparently unconscious, she instantly became alert. She glanced around the shop, grabbed a fire extinguisher, and was about to walk over.
"Oh my God! Is anyone in the shop?"
"Are you okay?"
"We've already called the police."
"Anyone there?" The shop was located in a busy area with lots of pedestrians and vehicles passing by. Someone who saw what happened called the police and kindly came over to check on the situation.
"Yes, yes, we're here," the shop owner heard the inquiries from outside and quickly called out.
Thalia set down the fire extinguisher, but kept it nearby within easy reach, ready for any unexpected trouble.
"Just my luck. Every time I run into you, something bad happens. Can you be more self-aware? When you see me, stay away from me."
Hearing Thalia's grumbling, Chase got up from the ground and dusted himself off. "You should be grateful. If I hadn't been quick enough to pull you aside just now, you'd be meeting your dad already."
"Don't worry, when I see my dad, I'll tell on you—say you've squandered almost all his inheritance, then drag him back with me to settle the score with you."
Listening to these two bicker, Amara didn't know whether to laugh or cry. She knew full well that Sean wouldn't let Thalia go, yet she'd foolishly tagged along anyway.
And what do you know—karma came that fast.
"Shouldn't you two help me up first?"
Thalia glanced at Amara, as if just noticing her, and reached out to pull her up.
Before long, the police arrived.
They surveyed the scene, sent those who needed medical attention to the hospital, and took others to the police station.
When William arrived at the station with his people, he was accompanied by Aurora City officials. Seeing this, the police quickly got up to speed on what happened—the whole thing took less than half an hour.
"Word from the hospital says the guy had a sudden myocarditis attack that caused him to lose consciousness. He probably had the episode while driving, and that's why he crashed."
No wonder Sean does things so seamlessly.
He managed to hide the fact that he wasn't the Jimenez family's biological child for so many years. These little schemes to harm people were nothing to him.
"Mr. Brown, what do you think?"
"We'll leave the rest to you. We need to head back."
"Alright, I'll see you out."
The official nodded repeatedly, seeing William and his group to their cars. He watched the vehicles drive off into the distance, then wiped the cold sweat from his forehead.
The car stopped at the dock. Chase sauntered along behind, clicking his tongue. "Mr. Brown, you really are incredibly well-connected, aren't you? Wherever you go, people treat you with respect. If you keep this up, those folks in Regal City are probably going to come after you."
"Finn," William couldn't be bothered to respond.
"Mr. Brown."
"Throw Mr. Smith in the river to help him sober up."
Chase immediately begged for mercy. "I was wrong, I'll shut up, I..."
Before Chase could finish, Finn kicked him in—clean and efficient, no hesitation.
"Annoying."
Thalia glanced sideways at William, thinking, 'That's Mr. Brown for you—ruthless and doesn't waste words.'
........
When Chase was fished out of the river, he was sneezing all the way up the elevator to the eighth-floor guest rooms.
Passing through the first-floor lobby, he was spotted by Celestia Group employees, who couldn't help gossiping.
"Isn't that Ms. Smith's brother? Mr. Brown had someone kick him into the river—what's that about?"
"Enemies?"
"No way! It doesn't look like it at all!"
Selene stood in the crowd, watching Chase sneeze his way into the elevator. She wanted to follow and take a look, but with so many colleagues around, it wouldn't look good to be too obvious.
"Why are you staring at me like that?"
"Don't you know to bring bodyguards when you go out?"
In the bedroom, William was in a foul mood. He'd gone out to discuss business and halfway through got a call from Amara saying something had happened.
He'd been extremely anxious, but looking at Thalia now, she seemed completely unconcerned, not taking the matter seriously at all.
"Weren't you the one who told me not to bring John?" Thalia muttered in protest.
"Just because I told you not to bring John doesn't mean you couldn't bring someone else?" William's expression was dark, his gaze at Thalia less than friendly.
She was somewhat baffled by his sudden mood, took off her coat, and went into the bathroom to check her arm—it was badly bruised. That jerk Chase really did pull her, but didn't watch where he was pulling her. She'd never seen such an idiot who could pull someone straight into a freezer.
If she didn't know who was behind this incident, she'd definitely suspect it was Chase's doing.
She took off her sweater, wearing only a lace-trimmed camisole, and came out planning to change into something suitable for the evening banquet downstairs. If Sean dared to make a move, she'd strike back.
She walked back and forth around the room in just her camisole, while William remained motionless, still in his mood.
It made her laugh in exasperation.
She walked over, her cold fingertips slipping under his shirt hem, trailing up along his abs.
He still didn't budge.
Thalia's hand was about to go lower when he grabbed it. William's whole aura was cold, his gaze on Thalia chilly, radiating displeasure from head to toe.
"Mr. Brown, still angry?"
"Don't you have anything to say?"
"As a man, if you had any backbone, you'd go deal with the person who bullied me instead of demanding an explanation from me."
"Be good," Thalia stood on tiptoe and kissed William's chin.
........
"Oh my God! This is explosive!"
"How come there's nothing after they went into the room?"
"Want to see the good part."
In the evening, as the ship was returning and approaching Emerald City, every guest on board received a video on their phone showing Sean getting cozy with another woman the night before.
Even Sean himself received it.
"Thalia!" The man's voice seethed with rage in the bedroom.
Just then, a call from an unknown number came in.
