Chapter 451 Have You Thought It Through and Come to Give Me an Answer?
"Mr. Jimenez, the elevator's here."
Brian heard Angelina cursing the guy out and felt secretly pleased. He really didn't want Steven showing off in front of Angelina, so when the elevator arrived, he half-pushed Steven inside.
Let him leave all pissed off.
The moment the elevator doors closed, Brian turned around and gave Angelina a thumbs-up. "Ms. Jolie, impressive."
"He deserved it."
"Acting so shamelessly at his age."
Thalia saw that Steven had left, rolled her chair over, and looked at William with a smile, her slender fingers tapping her chin. "Who would've thought? You're pretty good at cursing people out."
"Practice a bit more, and you'll be able to out-argue me."
William stubbed out his cigarette in the ashtray and exhaled the last puff of smoke. "No."
"I won't be able to out-argue you?"
"Yeah."
"Why not?"
"Because love makes people willing to back down."
The man bent down slightly, trapping Thalia in the office chair, leaning forward to look her in the eye. "Thalia, I've never hidden my feelings for you."
"William, you know what? The more you act like this, the more I want to sleep with you."
As Thalia spoke, she pushed William aside, wanting to stand up and take some action.
But the man stepped back and pressed his hand on her shoulder, making her sit back down. "I have a meeting at ten-thirty."
Thalia pouted. "You should've said so earlier! Then I wouldn't have come to see you."
"If you weren't coming to see me, who were you planning to see?"
"Raymond, of course. He sent me a wedding invitation, so I should at least ask what kind of gift he wants!"
"You're going to Regal City too?" William frowned, seeming somewhat incredulous.
Thalia tilted her head with a smile. "What? You don't want me to go?"
"Are you afraid that if our relationship becomes public, it'll affect your chances of finding other women in Regal City?"
William glanced at her. "Are you leaving on your own, or do I need to throw you out?"
Thalia shrugged. "I'll leave on my own."
When Thalia reached the door, she suddenly remembered something and turned around, leaning against the doorframe to look at William. "Do you think I'll run into Steven downstairs?"
"Go down and find out."
When Thalia said this, she was just teasing William, but unexpectedly, she was right.
Steven was sitting in his car and still hadn't left.
When he saw Thalia through the car window, his eyes narrowed.
As if remembering something, he immediately pushed open the car door and got out. When Thalia saw who appeared in front of her, a curse word exploded in her mind.
She was just talking, and it actually came true?
"Ms. Smith, what are you doing here?"
Thalia held her bag and shrugged. "What's it to you?"
"I'm just curious how Ms. Smith can freely come and go from the Celestia Group, and who gave you permission." Every time he came up to this building, he had to wait and wait, and William had to send someone down to get him.
How come Thalia could come and go freely?
Thalia answered directly, "Mr. Brown, of course! Who else?"
"What's your relationship with William?"
"What kind of relationship do you want us to have? Husband and wife? Friends? Lovers? Or just scandal partners?"
"In other words, our relationship shouldn't be any of your business, right?"
"Ms. Smith, Mr. Jimenez just feels that Mr. Brown treats you very specially." Stefan saw the tension between them and spoke up at the right time to ease the situation.
It had to be said that in Thalia's eyes, Stefan the butler was much more sensible than Steven the master.
Probably because his position was low enough that he could swallow his pride.
Thalia was always the type who responded to kindness, not force.
"Of course, after all, I'm the one bringing money to Mr. Brown, while Mr. Jimenez..." Thalia paused strategically. "Everyone in Emerald City knows that Mr. Brown has been pestered by a grandfather who suddenly appeared."
"Waiting for him to save a family that's about to fall apart."
"Since ancient times, people who bring money and people who collect debts have always been treated differently. Stefan, don't you think I'm right?"
Stefan didn't dare make a sound. After all, Steven was there, so it wasn't his place to answer this question.
Seeing no response, Thalia glanced at Steven before leaving. "By the way, Mr. Jimenez, you probably don't know this, but your butler here is much better at talking than you are. In your entire Jimenez family, he's the one I find most agreeable. If you really can't find an heir, you might want to consider him."
As soon as Thalia got in the car, John looked away from Steven. "That old bastard is so shameless."
Thalia didn't follow his lead, but instead asked, "Where's Raymond? Did you find him?"
"At the golf course."
"Let's go find him."
........
At the Emerald City golf course, Raymond was testing out his new club.
Someone came from outside to tell him that Thalia had arrived and was heading his way.
Raymond chuckled, having guessed that Thalia would come looking for him.
"Take away the drinks and bring tea instead."
Female celebrities were particular—they were afraid of gaining weight from drinks.
Thalia hadn't even changed clothes. She was wearing high heels, a blue dress with a khaki coat over it—a typical autumn outfit.
"Mr. Carter, you seem pretty relaxed. Most people would be crazy busy preparing for their own wedding at this time, right?"
"Ms. Smith, do you have a lot of experience with this?"
Thalia saw the server bringing over a tea tray and sat down sensibly, leaning back in her chair with her legs crossed, watching Raymond swing his club.
Raymond had a restrained quality about him, like a treasured sword that had been sealed away for decades, covered in dust.
"I've just seen a lot."
Thalia saw the server about to kneel down to pour her tea and waved them away, doing it herself.
"I heard that Eleanor has prepared quite a bit of assets for Elowen. Are you sure you still want to make a deal with me?"
"I'm not so pathetic that I'd go after a woman's money."
Right now, although he was being controlled by the Carter family to the point where he could barely move, he wasn't about to scheme against Elowen. An innocent person being dragged into this was already pitiful enough—he couldn't let her sacrifice her whole life and her money too.
Thalia held the teacup in her hand, swirling it gently, with a light smile tinged with mockery. "No wonder Elowen is so devoted to you. I have to say, you do have some good qualities."
"So, have you made up your mind? Are you here to give me your answer?"
