Chapter 437 Mr. Brown's New Scandalous Girlfriend
Thalia left the company and went to the mall to pick up the custom jewelry. She had stayed at the Smith Villa for a week and had nearly driven Grace crazy. Fortunately, she still had a daughter’s conscience and didn't let her own mother suffer for too long.
As soon as Thalia entered the store, she was recognized even though she was wearing a mask and hat.
"Ms. Smith, you're here? The manager was just urging us to call and check on you. We were thinking that if you didn't have time, we could deliver it to you."
"This way please, your items have arrived."
Thalia followed the staff toward the VIP room. Just as she reached the door, she heard a familiar voice.
The person seemed to be on a phone call, not talking to the staff.
Thalia turned slightly and glanced over.
Sure enough, it was Eleanor.
Eleanor sensed Thalia's gaze. The person on the phone slowly turned around and metThalia's scrutinizing eyes.
She hung up and walked over, looking her up and down. "All better now?"
Thalia shrugged.
Eleanor handed her phone to Yosef behind her. "Judging by the trending topics, people who didn't know better would think you were dying."
"Sorry to disappoint you."
“A little bit,” Eleanor said lightly. “I was kind of curious to see what would happen if you were actually dying."
Thalia rolled her eyes at that. "I'd just die, what else would happen?"
Eleanor was speechless.
The staff member nearby couldn't help but laugh at Thalia's reply, and the tray in her hands trembled slightly.
Eleanor didn't bother arguing with her. "Jewelry?"
"Yep, want to take a look?"
Eleanor didn't refuse and headed toward the VIP room first.
As soon as they sat down, the staff member knelt and opened the jewelry box, revealing a set of emerald green jewelry before them.
It had to be said, Thalia had excellent taste. As outsiders often said,, a girl raised in luxury from childhood, even if she didn’t initially have good taste, would eventually develop it through years of exposure to money and refinement.
This emerald jewelry set was probably one of a kind in Emerald City.
"For you to wear?” Eleanor asked.
"For my mom, what do you think?"
"Perfect for her."
Thalia lazily leaned back on the sofa, took off her hat and mask, and casually stuffed them into her bag.
"What are you doing here? Ordering jewelry?"
"Getting wedding jewelry for Elowen."
Thalia's hand paused while stuffing her hat. "You're really better to her than her own mother, huh? You even handle things like this for her?”
Eleanor was about to respond when she glanced at the staff member kneeling on the floor. "Do you have coffee?"
"Yes," the staff member hadn't planned to leave. She had wanted to stay and listen to the gossip—but before it even started, she was already being sent away.
She had heard about the Mitchell family's situation in Emerald City. The marriage alliance with the Carter family from Regal City - ever since the engagement, Elowen’s daily routine consisted of one thing: catching her fiancé cheating.
Everyone had assumed the engagement would eventually be called off.
But unexpectedly, instead of breaking up, news came that the two were actually getting married
How dramatic.
Life among wealthy families was even more exciting than the soap operas they watched.
In an ordinary family, the engagement would have been called off long ago.
The girl’s father might even have broken the man’s legs.
But look at these two families? They only care about the outcome, not whether their children are happy.
Their children's happiness far less than the family's future and business interests.
As soon as the staff member left, Eleanor continued.
"Elowen is on a hunger strike at home, trying every method she can think of to break off this engagement.”
"What do you think?" Thalia asked.
"I only have one thought - peace."
For Eleanor, if Elowen were obedient, sensible, didn't hold her back, and didn't oppose her, then regarding this marriage with Raymond—if Elowen truly didn’t want it—she would do everything to help her fight for freedom.
But reality was different.
Elowen wasn’t that kind of person.
She opposed Eleanor at every turn, even going so far as to sell the Mitchell family’s business secrets to outsiders.
Keeping someone like that around was like keeping a ticking time bomb.
She had to send her away—and do it grandly.
Thalia was curious. She turned to look at her, brushing her hair back casually. "I'm curious, I've suggested this to you so many times, but you never acted on it before. What suddenly made you decide?"
The staff member returned with coffee. Seeing that neither woman intended for her to stay, she quietly left again.
Eleanor picked up her cup and took a small sip. "If the Mitchell family is destined to be mine in the end, why shouldn't I exercise that authority earlier?"
"Ms. Mitchell, please take care of me in the future," Thalia raised her cup with a sly smile at Eleanor.
Eleanor had clearly been waiting for Thalia to say that. "Mr. Smith, interested in investing?"
"I can consider it. Send me the investment proposal when you have time."
They didn't chat much longer. If they continued, Grace would already be off work.
Thalia walked into the company carrying gifts. Just as she reached the entrance, she saw Grace about to leave. She arrived at 4:30, and Grace was already leaving?
"Mom, leaving already?"
“You seem to be living quite comfortably at work,” Grace said coolly. “If you don’t work hard, how are we supposed to live a good life?”
Grace looked Thalia over. "Need something?"
Thalia raised the bag in her hand. "Brought you a gift."
"What gift?"
"Go inside and open it to see?"
"Emerald?"
"Yep, like it?"
"How much?" Grace knew quality when she saw it. She didn't need to inspect it closely to know it was expensive.
"A few tens of millions of dollars."
"Your money or William's money?"
"His money, of course! He's so rich, why would I need to save money for him?"
Grace looked at Thalia with satisfaction. "Good, your brain hasn't broken yet."
"Thanks for the compliment. What are you doing later? Take me with you!"
Grace picked up the gift and prepared to leave, glancing at Thalia. "Planning to find you a stepdad, want to come?"
Thalia blinked. "Dad's barely been dead, and you're already thinking about finding me a stepdad. I don't mind, but aren't you afraid others will?"
"If you don't mind, why should I care if others do? Do they share blood with me or something?"
"Bored?" Grace glanced at Thalia.
"Very."
"Then tonight the charity association president's wife is hosting a private party, inviting female entrepreneurs..."
"Selene? Isn't she William's new rumored girlfriend?"
"Selene's father thinks highly of William and has created quite a few opportunities for Selene, both openly and secretly. If you go blinked., you might run into William."
Wasn’t it supposed to be a party for female entrepreneurs?
Why would he be there?
"He wouldn't dare! If I see him there, I'll teach him a lesson when we get home!"
