Chapter 436: Thalia, I Love You So Much
William looked at Thalia, meeting her gaze directly without any intention of avoiding it. On the contrary, his frankness made Thalia think the man in front of her was a bit foolish.
What was their relationship? A two-year marriage with a signed agreement. If they decided to divorce after two years and go their separate ways, the less the other person knew, the better. Yet William's current behavior was like exposing his back to her, giving her the chance to stab him at any moment.
Did he trust her?
Or did he really not take her seriously, thinking her ability to hurt him was nothing worth mentioning?
William nodded. "Yeah."
Hearing his "yeah," Thalia thought for a moment. "You want to go back to the Jimenez family to find answers?"
William nodded slightly. "I've been thinking about it."
"What about Vaughn?"
"Does he know that you know about this? Or rather, does he know you're not his biological son? Has it been verified?"
Thalia fired off three questions in a row. William considered them and only answered the most important one. "It's been confirmed."
Thalia sat up a bit straighter. "Does Vaughn know you're not his biological son?"
"Maybe. I'm not sure."
Thalia fell into deep thought, frowning, head lowered, thinking about something. After a long while, she looked up at the man. "Is the truth very important to you?"
"Not important, but I need to know the truth."
"What if getting the truth doesn't make you happy?"
"Are you satisfied with your current life? Your family, your friends, including me—if all of this satisfies you, I personally suggest not chasing after other things too much. Who your biological father is doesn't matter. What matters is that Vaughn raised you and brought you up. That's enough."
"Let me remind you, based on the fact that your mother abandoned you when you were young—if you find your biological father and discover he's the same type of person as my father, what then?"
"Looking at it this way, there's not much difference between knowing the truth and not knowing it."
"Let me ask you another way—would you still be willing to pursue this so-called truth?"
Thalia's words were light, but each one weighed like a thousand-pound boulder crashing onto William's head, making his previously clear mind dizzy.
For a moment, he didn't know what to choose.
Come to think of it, it was funny—a business titan who dominated the corporate world was stumped by Thalia's questions.
William's hand, which had been moving back and forth on her lower back, stopped. His mind was full of Thalia's words: 'If knowing the truth means giving up everything you have now, is it worth it?'
If he had to trade everything he had now for it, it definitely wasn't worth it.
Seeing William's silence, Thalia continued, "Haven't you thought about it? What you're actively seeking might become your burden?"
"Maybe it's because of my life experiences, or maybe because my dad was such a jerk, but if this were me, I wouldn't look for the answer."
"But you want to find it, and I support you."
"Why?" Hearing Thalia's words, William felt warmth in his heart.
"Because if I look at the world from my own perspective, then the whole world is mine, but in reality, the world isn't mine."
"And it won't become mine. You have your own pursuits, and as your wife, I should support you."
In an instant, Thalia was caught in a pair of wolf-like eyes, full of aggression. The floodgates of desire burst open. William gave her no chance to react—his kisses fell like a violent storm, from his lips all the way to her shoulder, so burning hot that Thalia couldn't escape.
Until Thalia couldn't catch her breath and pushed against him, the man's broad palm pressed against her neck, bringing her forehead to his, his breathing wild yet restrained. "Thalia, I love you so much."
..........
"Mr. Jimenez, will Mr. Brown really go back to Regal City?"
"As long as Sean is around, it won't be that easy. He won't allow William to go to Regal City. Once William goes, his position in the Jimenez family will be in danger."
In the entire Jimenez family now, Steven was probably the only one willing to let William go to Regal City and break this situation. No one else wanted it. After what happened the other night, the grudge between Eileen and William had probably been set—it would never be resolved in this lifetime.
As for Sean, everyone in Regal City knew he was the one the Jimenez family was focusing on cultivating. All the family's resources were being directed toward him.
Just waiting to put him in a high position.
To take the Jimenez family to the next level.
If William returned to Regal City, Sean would become the laughingstock of all of Regal City. Would he let that happen?
Of course not.
"We'll just sit back and watch the show," Michael said from the balcony of a high-rise building, tapping the ash from his cigarette, looking ready to enjoy the drama.
After resting for a few days, Thalia went to the office. As soon as she walked in, Layla came out. "Perfect timing. I was just thinking about when to come find you today, and here you are."
"The director has already agreed. All the commercials are yours. I've also talked to our advertising partners—two weren't too willing, so I got you two more commercials separately, one for cold medicine and one for toothpaste."
"Because they have their own distribution channels, the pay for these two commercials is really good."
"You're really good too," Thalia said while opening the office door and calling out to the receptionist. "Coffee for the whole company this afternoon, Layla's treat."
"Thank you, Layla."
Layla rested her chin in her hand, looking at Thalia like she was looking at her own daughter. "Let me say a few things. Listen if you want, and if you don't, pretend I didn't say anything."
"Go ahead."
"This whole thing wasn't aimed at you, right? The people you've offended can't kill and burn. I'm guessing it's Mr. Brown?"
"Sort of."
"Relationships are about mutual consent. I can't really comment too much on your relationship with Mr. Brown, but you need to remember—no matter what kind of relationship it is, as a woman, the first thing you need to do is ensure your own safety."
"I know."
Layla nodded. William was a man with deep thoughts. If he found out she was sitting here in front of Thalia, stirring up trouble, one day William would come deal with her. There were things she wanted to say, but didn't dare to.
