Chapter 418 Early in the Morning, He Was Sent to Buy Underpants
Thalia had always been the type to settle scores. Early that morning, he pinned her down and had sex with her from the bed to the sofa, leaving her completely overwhelmed.
He figured she definitely wouldn't let this slide.
And sure enough, that was exactly what she did.
While he was in the shower, she took all his underwear.
There was a board meeting at 10 AM. William glanced at the time on his phone - he was running late.
Holding back his temper, he called Finn and told him to go buy two pairs of underwear.
"Buy... buy what?" Finn thought he'd misheard.
William went silent for a moment, then spoke coldly. "I don't want to repeat myself."
That's when Finn realized he'd heard correctly.
Finn usually handled William's daily needs, and if he remembered right, William's closet was full of underwear - an entire drawer of them, if not a hundred pairs, at least several dozen.
Yet here he was, first thing in the morning, asking him to buy underwear.
How interesting.
Could it be that Thalia had done something outrageous again?
Finn quickly grabbed the car keys and headed out. Worried about traffic, he took the motorcycle instead.
Just as he reached the gate waiting for the guard to open it, he saw the gardener trimming flowers outside carrying a large bag.
"Who would be so awful as to dump a whole bag of underwear in the bushes?"
Hearing this, Finn lost his balance and fell off the bike.
He stayed frozen for four or five seconds before getting up.
"You okay?"
"I'm fine. Don't bring that stuff into the yard."
If William saw it, it would be a disaster.
Before the cleaner could ask anything, Finn rode off on his motorcycle.
After thinking it over, the cleaner figured that since Finn worked for William, he should probably listen to him.
.............
"Ms. Smith, you're ruthless. Aren't you afraid Mr. Brown will get back at you?" John couldn't help but chat with Thalia.
Thalia took a sip of coffee and thought about it. "You're right. When I get back, he'll come after me, and I won't be able to fight back. Go buy me some scissors to put in my bag."
"Right away." John turned to leave with a look of someone enjoying the drama, but Isla grabbed him. "Are you stupid? If you actually buy them and she stabs someone with the scissors, you'll be the one who provided the weapon."
John fell silent.
"When couples fight, they're just playing around. If you get involved, you'll end up taking the blame."
Isla's warning made sense. Thalia might hold grudges, but she was also easygoing - she might forget some grudges after a good night's sleep.
And William doted on Thalia. Whenever she acted cute, he'd give her whatever she wanted.
.............
"Bastard! When she helped that bastard return to Regal City, I shouldn't have let anyone send him back to Emerald City. I should have strangled him myself."
"Look what he's doing now! Going after people who wanted to ally with us? Isn't that slapping us in the face? Does he think he can mess with the Jimenez family's reputation whenever he wants?" When Eileen heard about last night's events, she cursed furiously.
Sitting in the living room, she wished she could strangle William right now.
Steven stood to the side, hands folded on his cane, eyes closed in thought, as if pondering something. "When those people came to us, there was no one else present. How did William know the names on that list? And so accurately, not missing a single one."
Eileen realized something. "You mean there's a mole in the house?"
Steven made a sound of agreement.
Everyone they brought to Emerald City this time were trusted confidants from the Jimenez family in Regal City. They'd only hired a cook and a servant in Emerald City.
No one else.
Could the mole be among these people?
"Michael?" The first person Eileen thought of wasn't the servants, but Michael.
Steven had always known Eileen was biased against Michael, but he didn't expect her to suspect Michael first even in this situation. "Can you put aside your grudge against him?"
"How can I? He has ulterior motives and endless greed. All signs point to him not being innocent."
"Do you have proof?" Steven countered. "Your favoritism will cause big trouble sooner or later."
"I've been playing favorites before, and you never said anything. Why will it cause big trouble now?"
Eileen stood up from the sofa, full of anger, looking down at Steven. "I'll handle this matter today. Don't interfere."
............
"Mr. Brown, the private room is booked."
"Tell the board members," William said without looking up.
Thalia had a dinner gathering tonight, and William had also arranged a dinner meeting.
The restaurant William booked wasn't far from the Celestia Group, by the riverside. It was a vintage building where you could lean on the railing and listen to the river waves - the environment and atmosphere were perfect for business discussions.
When William and his group arrived, the servers were bringing out dishes. They saw a group of men in suits surrounding a distinguished-looking man entering. William was in the center, walking quickly, turning into the private room.
It wasn't until they went in that the servers realized the man at the front was a regular on financial magazines.
Dinner meetings were common at the Celestia Group.
During these occasions, Finn would stand at the door passing dishes and guarding the entrance.
But unexpectedly, he saw Thalia that day.
She was with Layla and several entertainment industry directors, apparently also there for business.
When Finn went into the private room to deliver wine, he walked to William's side and whispered in his ear. "Mrs. Brown is here too, with Layla and several directors."
The cigarette in William's hand paused. He then reached for the ashtray in front of him and tapped off the ash, staying silent for a moment. "Send a bottle of wine to her room."
Finn nodded, realizing William was backing up his wife.
Thalia and her group had just sat down and started exchanging pleasantries when someone knocked on the private room door.
"Ms. Smith, Mr. Brown heard you were here and specially asked me to bring in a good bottle of wine."
Thalia raised an eyebrow.
"Such fine wine - Mr. Brown is generous," Layla drew everyone's attention to the value of the wine.
