Chapter 368 I Am Not Happy When She Scold Me or My Man
In the private room, Grace's voice rang out, and only then did Thalia put away her sharp edges, preparing to walk past Eileen to the restroom.
Seeing them leave, the manager let out a huge sigh of relief. "Madam, this way please. We've cleared the private room for you."
"Mrs. Jimenez, that woman is Hayden's daughter."
Eileen had just entered the private room when she froze at her companion's words. "That's her?"
"Yes."
"A woman like that is indeed a good match for that disgraceful William."
Thalia hadn't gone far. Hearing Eileen's words, she almost didn't react at first. By the time she turned around to look, the woman had already entered the private room.
Insulting both her and William?
Fine, insult William if she wanted, but insulting her too?
Thalia was so angry she cursed out loud. She pulled out her phone and called William, asking out of the blue, "I want to hit someone."
"Then hit them."
Thalia hung up. William held his phone, somewhat confused.
"Finn."
"Mr. Brown."
"Call John and ask where Thalia is."
Less than a minute later, Finn came back on the line. "John says Mrs. Brown is having dinner with Mrs. Smith."
"Address."
..........
"Why do you look so upset?"
"Want to get in a fight?" Grace asked as soon as Thalia entered the private room.
The soundproofing in the room wasn't that great.
She deliberately raised her voice and sneered, "Old women like that should just stay home and wait to die. All that perfume can't even cover up her stench. What's she trying to prove by coming out?"
Grace was speechless.
"You can tell even at her age that she was a slut when she was young. Who knows how many men she seduced!"
Grace was shocked by Thalia's words and kicked her under the table.
Thalia stretched her neck toward Grace. "She just insulted William and me."
"See! You need to know your enemy to win the battle. If you don't give me information, I can't even win an argument."
Grace's mouth twitched. She could find an excuse for anything.
With Thalia's personality, give her a ladder, and she'd find a way to climb to heaven.
"So are you mad she insulted you or mad she insulted William?"
"Is there a difference? I'm unhappy whether she insults my man or me."
Grace mysteriously picked up her glass and took a sip of water. "Thalia, being stubborn doesn't do you any good."
"Liking William isn't something to be ashamed of."
"Mrs. Jimenez, don't stoop to that kind of person's level."
Her companion tried to calm her down, but Eileen was so angry that her cheeks were trembling. "She said that for me to hear."
"If you lower yourself to her level now, won't that be playing right into her hands? Ms. Carter is coming later - don't let her see us make fools of ourselves."
Hearing this, Eileen held back.
When Zephyrine arrived, she saw Eileen putting down her empty glass.
Someone refilled her water before leaving. "Ms. Carter, please have a seat."
Zephyrine greeted Eileen. "Mrs. Jimenez."
"The last time we met must have been at your mother's birthday celebration."
After some pleasantries from Eileen, Zephyrine smiled and nodded. "Yes, I didn't expect to see you in a small place like Emerald City."
The words "small place" completely lifted Eileen's mood. "My husband wanted to take a vacation, so I came along."
"I heard from your mother that you and Kurt are planning to start a new business?"
Zephyrine was taken aback. When had she ever said such a thing?
Sure enough, the Carters were all about saving face.
Everything they said publicly was to their own advantage.
Zephyrine smiled without saying anything.
William's acquisition of the company was at a fair price. Although there were some tax issues afterward, the remaining money was enough for them to live comfortably in retirement.
Kurt had completely given up and had no intention of working hard again.
But the Carter family had always treated them as a cash cow, so naturally, they couldn't tell people about this retirement lifestyle.
Otherwise, without their cash cow, their status in Regal City would decline.
"Mrs. Jimenez, how long are you planning to stay in Emerald City? There are many nice attractions here. If you're interested, I can arrange for someone to show you around."
From Zephyrine's evasiveness, Eileen could pretty much tell what she meant.
The meal ended after they'd eaten their fill.
When the two left the private room, Thalia happened to be standing at the door of her room with a receipt, waiting for Grace after paying the bill.
"Mrs. Smith?"
"Mrs. Lowe."
Zephyrine and Grace both used to move in the same social circles, so they greeted each other when they met.
Eileen watched Thalia from the side, her eyes darkening.
"What a coincidence to run into you here."
"Indeed quite a coincidence."
"Let me introduce you - this is Mrs. Smith, and this is Mrs. Jimenez."
Zephyrine stood between them, making introductions.
Grace looked at Eileen and nodded indifferently.
But Thalia snorted coldly. "So this is Mrs. Jimenez! If I didn't know better, I'd think she was some country bumpkin!"
"First time meeting someone and she insults me - that's really rare!"
Before Eileen could speak, her companion spoke up, explaining in a small, humble voice. "Ms. Smith, is there some misunderstanding here?"
Zephyrine also understood what was going on.
"Thalia, it's better to avoid trouble. It's rare to see Mrs. Lowe - let's not make things unpleasant."
Grace had no interest in chatting with Zephyrine. In Grace's eyes, this woman was not only calculating and manipulative, but also liked to drag others into things.
Just look at those previous victims, right?
She said this because she knew the Carter family had always been under the Jimenez family's protection in Regal City. By rights, the Jimenez family was primary and Zephyrine was secondary.
By saying this today, she just wanted to embarrass Eileen.
So what if you're powerful in Regal City? This is Emerald City.
"Today isn't good for a long chat. Let's get together another time when we have a chance." Zephyrine nodded. Though she smiled, she'd lost her earlier warmth, clearly understanding the implications in Grace's words.
"Mrs. Jimenez, don't take it to heart. Ms. Smith is known in Emerald City for being arrogant and domineering." Seeing Grace leave, Zephyrine put on a show of courtesy with this remark.
Eileen was holding back her anger and nodded. "Naturally."
After the two parted ways, as soon as Eileen got in the car, she couldn't help but complain. "Zephyrine is quite something."
