Chapter 184 When Did I Become Your Woman?
"Got such a foul mouth? Just come out of the toilet?" Walter shot back.
In Emerald City, plenty of people gave Walter some respect for Thalia's sake.
These rich kids were all about status.
Normally, the places where they partied weren't accessible to just anyone, and the only reason Walter could come and go at these gatherings was because they were doing it for Thalia's sake.
Just as Evelyn said, Walter was using Thalia.
The guy Walter snapped at scoffed: "What are you acting all high and mighty for? Who doesn't know whose face you're selling, Mr. Wood? Getting respect through a woman's reputation, and you're not even embarrassed? What I find strange is, when you two were actually together, you went out cheating, messing around, and even got someone pregnant. Now that she has nothing to do with you anymore, you're still chasing after her like a dog. Have you no shame?"
"Does your dad know you're this shameless? If the Wood family ancestors knew what you're like, wouldn't they jump out of their graves in anger?"
"Say that again?" Walter slammed the table and shot up, glaring furiously at the man mocking him.
"So what if I say it? Can't handle the truth? Who doesn't know that pregnant woman is living at your place now?"
"What are you pretending for? You think everyone's brainless? That Thalia would get back together with you? No skills, no future, no decency—Mr. Wood, aren't you just using Thalia's name to scam people everywhere? Does Thalia even know about this? I have her number, should I give her a call and check?"
The guy must have hit Walter's sore spot. Seeing him pull out his phone to make the call, Walter suddenly lunged forward and snatched the phone away.
"So what I said is true? You really are using Ms. Smith's reputation to scam people everywhere?"
The man looked around as he spoke, his gaze falling on everyone present: "Who here has Thalia on Messenger? Someone better ask her quick, or if we piss off Thalia and she stops filming just to fly back here and deal with you all."
"That's what you get for running your mouth," Walter threw a punch at the guy when he wasn't paying attention.
The blow sent him staggering backward.
Instantly, the bar erupted into chaos.
A group of rich kids stood holding their drinks, watching the show.
Everyone actually knew in their hearts that Thalia wasn't the type to get back with an ex, and now there were vague rumors going around that Thalia was going to sue them. If she was going to sue them, why would she get back together? That would be stupid.
Having been exposed, Walter felt like he had a bone stuck in his throat. He was both worried about things escalating and unwilling to lose face.
Nicholas ordered a drink, stepped back with his glass, and pulled out his phone to record a video. As he filmed, he narrated: "Look, Thalia's ex-boyfriend got caught using Thalia's name to scam people, and now he's losing it. Tell me, isn't this exciting?"
No matter how much they fought, neither of them could be the winner in the end!
What was the point?
Thalia was already married, someone else had gotten there first.
"What? Got exposed and now you're embarrassed and angry?"
"What business is it of yours? How things are between me and Thalia, is it your place to interfere? Don't think I don't know—when Thalia and I were dating, you sent her messages, trying to steal her from me behind my back. Today you're stirring up trouble in front of everyone just because you're bitter that Thalia chose me back then and not you. Even as her ex-boyfriend, I'm still a man who once had her. And you?"
"Having someone without any intimate contact, does that count as having them?"
"You never had her at all."
"What right do you have to talk about me? Thalia was my woman, not yours."
"You..."
"Forget it," the man was about to strike but was held back: "Thalia's backing him up!"
Walter snorted triumphantly and kicked the man in the stomach.
The onlookers gasped in amazement. Walter had been down and out since breaking up with Thalia, but now he was making a comeback?
"Since when did I become Mr. Wood's woman?" A mocking voice came from the doorway, pushing the whole scene to its climax.
Thalia wore a Polo dress, her thighs exposed, impossible to look away from.
She leaned casually against the doorway, the wooden frame giving off an aged, rustic feel. With her long curly hair loose, Thalia's casual stance gave her a cold, striking beauty.
Evelyn walked into the club first: "I was wondering why Mr. Wood has been so confident lately—turns out he's been riding on Thalia's reputation!"
"Recently all over Emerald City people have been saying Thalia got back together with someone. Turns out it's Mr. Wood's doing. Isn't this too much? Taking advantage of Thalia being away filming to start this mess?"
"Why bother? We're all in the same circle. Have you no shame?"
Walter looked at Thalia, his face pale. That night when he checked Thalia's schedule, he clearly saw she would be staying at the film studio for the next two months without returning to the city. How did she suddenly come back today?
When his lies were exposed, Walter's legs trembled, but he still tried to act calm.
"I don't know what you're talking about."
"Don't know, or don't want to know, or won't admit you know? Walter, can you have some shame? The lawyer's letter has already been sent to your house, and you're still pulling this kind of stunt out here. How can you face your pregnant girlfriend at home?"
"But I get it—after all, when you were with Thalia, everyone in the circle respected you for her sake. You don't actually think you deserved that respect, do you? Without Thalia, what are you?"
Evelyn looked around at the spectators: "Walter has no shame, but are you all blind? However much he's drunk here, whatever tabs he's run up—you deal with it yourselves."
The bar manager's face fell when he heard this.
Thalia had deposited a million dollars here, and recently Walter's drinks had all been charged to Thalia's account.
"Don't tell me you've already spent Thalia's money? Charging it without even asking?" Evelyn laughed.
"Before, Ms. Smith brought Mr. Wood here too, so I thought..." the manager trailed off.
"Thought what?" Thalia walked down the steps, her icy tone carrying authority. She stared at the manager, walked to the center, and raised her hand to slap him.
"What! She actually hit him?"
