Chapter 151 If It's Not Urgent, Satisfy Me First Before Solving It
"So... what about Ms. Lewis?" Finn hesitated a bit when he heard William's instructions. Wasn't today's task supposed to deal with Scarlett?
"Have someone send her home," William said tersely, his words forceful and domineering.
Finn carefully glanced at Thalia, thinking to himself that indeed, only Thalia could make William lose his composure.
"Do we need to say anything to Mr. Lewis?"
William didn't answer Finn directly, but just looked at him.
William's indifferent gaze made Finn realize how stupid his question had been.
Say what?
Only the weak need to explain.
Jasper couldn't wait to please William. Even if William broke Scarlett's legs, he could only accept it.
Scarlett was sent back to the Lewis Villa. When the car stopped at the entrance, Finn tossed Scarlett out like throwing away trash.
The servants at the Lewis Villa saw this and rushed over in panic, too scared to make a sound.
"Ms. Lewis, what happened to you?"
Scarlett stumbled up from the ground, leaning on a servant's hand as she headed into the house, shaking her head.
"Get me some water, let me catch my breath..."
Scarlett had just picked up her glass, not yet having taken a sip, when the villa's front door was pushed open.
Jasper stormed in furiously, immediately demanding: "What happened?"
The servant saw the situation wasn't good and quickly left. Scarlett recounted what happened when she went to William's office today, leaving Jasper silent for a long while.
"Someone said the big shot behind the hilltop villa at Mistwood Hill is William. If it's really him, do you know what kind of person you offended today?"
"How is that possible?" Scarlett didn't believe it.
"Everyone in Emerald City knows that Mistwood Hill requires asset verification and military background to get in. Plenty of people can't even get into the mid-hill villas, let alone the hilltop ones. No matter how capable William is, he's just a rising star. So many century-old wealthy families in Emerald City don't have access - how could he get in?"
"Dad, where did you even hear this from? Even if William has wealth and connections, it's not like all of Emerald City's high society would go out of their way to please him, right? He's only been in the legal field for five years. Can five years of networking really match our Lewis family's forty years of business? Dad, don't let William fool you."
Scarlett increasingly felt that William was beneath notice.
A gentleman?
No gentleman would hit a woman.
He's just a common person who learned to package himself after getting money.
Emerald City is full of people like him.
"Did William say anything today?"
"He warned me."
"I'm starting to suspect that the relationship between him and Thalia isn't just a normal business partnership. Maybe there's something shady going on."
"I'll have someone look into it. You need to keep a low profile lately."
In the end, Jasper still indulged Scarlett and didn't give her any real punishment.
After Jasper left, Scarlett breathed a huge sigh of relief, secretly congratulating herself on being clever.
She sat on the sofa and picked up her phone to check her messages.
Many people were gloating under the guise of showing concern.
Some were directly gossiping about her in group chats.
Scrolling through the chat group messages, Scarlett saw someone post: "Thalia is Thalia. Even if she's fallen from grace, she's still formidable. Scarlett wants to imitate her? Ridiculous!"
"A bunch of blind fools."
Scarlett angrily threw her phone.
........
"Looking for someone?" After dumping Scarlett at the Lewis Villa entrance, Finn quickly found the address of the person who had contacted Layla.
When Kian heard the knock and opened the door to see Finn standing there in a black t-shirt, he was somewhat surprised.
"I'm your downstairs neighbor. My bathroom is leaking, so I came up to check if yours is leaking too."
"Downstairs neighbor? Are you kidding? Two girls live below me, and they're colleagues from my company."
"You..." Kian shouted at Finn a couple of times and tried to close the door, but Finn quickly reached out, grabbed his neck, and pushed him into the house.
Finn shut the door behind him and pinned Kian inside.
"I won't waste words. I heard you want seven million dollars. I'm here to see if what you have is really worth that much."
Finn pulled out photos from his clothes and placed them on the coffee table, looking at Kian across from him with silent threat.
Kian was trembling with fear, but still mustered the courage to say: "Do you know what you're doing is illegal?"
"You understand the law? Isn't it illegal to use those obscene videos to extort money?"
"This is industry practice, what do you know..."
Finn was a man of few words. He lifted his foot and kicked Kian to the ground.
Before Kian could get up, Finn picked up the photos, walked over to Kian, squatted down, and patted his face with the photos, smiling coldly: "Let me tell you, this is our industry practice."
"What... what do you want?"
"Talk! Where is she?"
"What person?"
Seeing Kian play dumb, Finn twirled the pen in his hand and stabbed it toward Kian's face, showing no intention of wasting time on him.
Kian cried out in panic: "I'll talk, I'll talk."
"Linda told me to use the stuff to threaten Thalia. As for the person you mentioned, she probably found them. I really don't know anything else, and the seven million dollar amount was also what she told me."
........
"As expected, if you don't pull out the roots, the weeds grow back with the spring breeze." Thalia sat cross-legged on the sofa in William's office, tilting her head and playing with her hair.
William's furrowed brows could kill a mosquito.
"Handle it yourself or should I?"
"For such a small matter, I won't trouble Mr. Brown," Thalia said while putting on her shoes. "I won't be back for dinner tonight. Just giving you a heads up, so you don't keep calling me non-stop."
When William heard Thalia say she wouldn't be back for dinner, his brows tightened and his fingers paused on the keyboard. Crossing the river and tearing down the bridge?
"What are you going to do?"
Thalia tugged at her skirt: "Deal with some people. If I don't deal with them now, your wife won't be able to survive in the entertainment industry anymore."
She'd been too busy dealing with the inheritance lately to bother with those things, but she didn't expect people would actually think she was easy to bully.
How could she tolerate Linda's repeated provocations?
Getting rid of one Andrew only to have her send another Nora.
"If you can't handle it, call me."
Thalia's footsteps had reached the door when she heard William's words. She turned back, walked around the desk and piles of documents, grabbed William's tie, leaned over and kissed his lips hard: "Mr. Brown, I really have mixed feelings about you."
Thalia's faint breath fell on William's face, making his heart itch slightly.
William's warm palm landed on the edge of the desk as he pushed back his chair and stood up. He pressed Thalia's neck and deepened the kiss, his seductive voice mixed with desire: "If you're not in a hurry, satisfy me first before you go deal with them?"
