Chapter 150 Mr. Brown, Do You Know How Attractive You Are?
"What..."
"This is Scarlett? She offended William? She's got some nerve, daring to do something like this."
"What video? Let me see."
Before long, everyone in the café who knew anything about wealthy family gossip had gathered around. Watching William grab Scarlett by the neck and lift her up, they all held their breath, as if William's hand was around their own necks. Each of them was too nervous to speak.
They all felt as if an invisible giant hand was gripping their own necks and lifting their bodies.
When the video ended, everyone watching fell silent. After a long pause, someone finally spoke in a hushed voice: "What did Scarlett do? Didn't they say Jasper had his eye on William and wanted him to marry Scarlett? He even claimed that if William married Scarlett, the entire Lewis family would be his."
"For anyone else, this would be lucky, but with William, it somehow feels like Jasper is begging him."
"Scarlett's in trouble now!"
As they talked, they spread the video around. Within minutes, every group chat in Emerald City, big and small, had received the news.
In William's office, Thalia's phone in her bag kept buzzing non-stop. Without even looking, she knew it was group chat discussions.
She opened it and took a glance. Sure enough...
The groups were all sharing the video of William grabbing Scarlett by the neck.
"Starting today, I declare Mr. Brown the founder of the two-faced identification agency."
"Amazing, amazing. I'm not educated enough to say anything else."
"In all of Emerald City, only Thalia could deal with Scarlett, but unfortunately Thalia's been focused on the inheritance thing lately and hasn't bothered with Scarlett. You haven't seen how arrogant Scarlett's been in Emerald City recently."
The gap between the Lewis family and the Smith family wasn't huge. The two families focused on different industries, both reaching the top in their respective fields.
And the Lewis family only had one daughter, Scarlett. Calling her a princess wasn't an exaggeration.
Plus, Jasper doted on her. In Emerald City's wealthy circles, having family backing was their biggest source of confidence.
Scarlett wasn't particularly attractive but was into a lot of things, determined to surpass Thalia and claim the position of Emerald City's princess.
Recently, with Thalia not active in the rich kids' circle, she'd started bullying people.
Many had been annoyed with her for a while now.
"Mr. Brown is here specifically to deal with people like this. Love it."
"Go Mr. Brown!"
Thalia sat on the sofa, her slender fingers casually scrolling through the group chat messages.
Her eyes occasionally glanced at the time on her phone.
Suddenly, a large hand reached over and took the phone from her palm. William sat sideways on the sofa. He reached out to pull Thalia into his arms, but she frowned and pushed him away with disgust: "Go wash your hands."
William's face darkened: "You're disgusted by me?"
"Thalia, I was standing up for you."
"That doesn't change the fact that you touched something dirty. Go wash your hands. Don't make me angry."
William laughed in frustration at Thalia: "Now you've got an attitude?"
Thalia moved back a bit, putting distance between herself and William. This one small gesture made William's expression even worse: "Why can't I have an attitude? Someone left early this morning for work just to have a private meeting with a wealthy young lady in his office?"
"What private meeting? Watch your words."
"A married man's awareness is something Mr. Brown doesn't have. Knowing Scarlett had ulterior motives but still letting her into your office. Noted," Thalia said, nodding. "I'll do the same in the future."
William: ......
William got up and went to the bathroom, suppressing his anger, squeezing out hand soap with great force, standing at the sink scrubbing his hands hard.
Thalia stood at the bathroom door in her heels, watching him: "Jasper wants you to marry Scarlett?"
William didn't answer.
"And he claimed that if you married Scarlett, he'd give you the entire Lewis family business?"
William still didn't respond. His jaw was tight, his thin lips pressed into a straight line. He was clearly angry at Thalia.
Thalia: ........
This conversation was going nowhere.
In that case, there was nothing more to say.
Without waiting for William to speak, Thalia walked to the sofa, picked up her bag, and prepared to leave. Just as she reached the office door and pulled it open, a large hand suddenly reached from behind and pressed her against the door, stopping her from leaving.
Thalia looked up, meeting William's gaze as he looked down at her: "You—"
William lowered his head and sealed Thalia's lips, wrapping his arm around her waist and moving toward the desk. The documents on the desk were in his way. William swept them aside with one hand, the papers falling to the floor. He lifted Thalia onto the desk, pressing her neck and forcing her to kiss him.
Thalia struggled, unable to breathe.
She pushed against William, and only when she kicked out at him did William ease up slightly.
"Are you crazy?"
"Your husband is angry and you don't even know to comfort him?"
Thalia gasped for breath, looking at William, wanting to struggle off the desk, but William held her waist, preventing her from moving.
"You—" Thalia was getting angry, wanting to argue with William, when she suddenly remembered something Amara said while looking at cats: "Just act cute with my brother, and he'd give you his life."
Thalia steadied herself: "Not only do you not comfort me, but you want me to comfort you?"
"Did I upset you?" William frowned.
"Your wife is caught up in a scandal with inappropriate photos, came all this way to find you to solve the problem, and you're having a private meeting with another woman in your office. I'm being nice by not cutting off your dick."
Hearing Thalia's coquettish complaint, William's mood softened a bit: "What inappropriate photos?"
Thalia told him about Walter.
William's hand pressing on Thalia's waist slowly moved to rest on the desk beside her.
Thalia took the opportunity to try to slip away, but William seemed to see through her intention. His dark eyes swept over her lightly, and Thalia's movement was forced to stop.
"The other party wants money?"
"Yes."
"?"
"Seven million dollars."
"What do you think?"
Thalia rolled her eyes: "I'm not the type to take losses."
William's hand reached past Thalia's lower back and pressed the intercom on the desk: "Finn, come in."
A moment later, there was a knock on the door.
William cupped Thalia's bottom with one hand and carried her to the sofa. This display of boyfriend strength made Thalia's heart flutter... So manly...
After settling her down, William bent forward, about to stand up, when Thalia reached out and grabbed his tie, lifting her neck to kiss him: "Mr. Brown, do you know how attractive you are?"
