6 - Real Identity
Five days have passed since Trevor came back to our lives. It was hard to believe at first, but as time went by, I accepted the fact that he was living with us under the same roof. I waited for this moment to happen, and I’ll do everything to protect my family.
Yet, my deep thoughts disappear when Trevor walks inside our room. He’s wearing jaw-dropping attire, hoping to impress my father today.
“How’s my outfit? Is it beautiful enough to get your father’s blessing?” he asks.
“Hmm, turn around.” I command.
Trevor turns around with grace, showing his beautiful body and outfit. I can’t get my eyes off him and he notices it.
“Hey, we have to hurry up! Allison told me that your father’s house is a two-hour ride.”
He lifts his eyebrows, telling me to get up and change my clothes in a few minutes.
The truth is we talked about meeting my father first before planning our wedding. His blessings are important for us to forget the past and move on. This is the moment that I’ve been waiting for— to prove to my father that I’m not a troublemaker.
As soon as I recall the past, my body functions. I want to show my family that my children have a father. They were born out of wedlock, but I’m happy about everything.
From then, I walk closer to my closet and look for a long white dress. I can no longer wait to see their faces and half-opened mouths in a few hours.
“Let’s see who’s the real winner. Today, my life will change, and no one can mess up with me anymore.” I thought.
“Ten minutes left, Therese! Hurry up!” Trevor said.
I don’t want to miss this chance anymore. I want to witness the pack’s reaction, especially my father who belittled me in the past.
“Five more minutes,” I replied.
Before leaving, I look at my reflection for a second. Starting today, no one can ever hurt me. If I have to fight, I will until the very end.
“This is it, Therese! Be strong for the twins.” I told myself countless times, hoping everything would be okay.
With heavy breath, I walk onto the door and see Trevor leaning on the wall. He waits for me, making my heart stop beating.
To catch his attention, I scratch my nape and clear my throat.
Trevor turns his gaze on me as his eyes widen like there’s a ghost in front of him.
“What’s wrong?” I asked, wondering why his face turned pale.
Instead of telling me what’s going on, he looks away from me and scratches his nape. “Shall we?”
It makes me wonder if there’s something on my face. I want to ask him, but he disappears like a flash of lightning.
“Weird,” I shrug off my shoulders then follow him outside of the house where a chariot is ready for us.
From a distance, Allison smiles at me. I know she’s happy about everything that is going on with my life. To bid the twins goodbye, I walk closer to them. Trevor and I have to leave the twins at Allison for their safety.
“Please behave, kids. Aunt Allison will be taking care of you two.” I said, kissing the twins.
Allison takes a deep breath and embraces me. Her eyes are telling me something she can’t say.
She said, “I can’t wait to see you walking in the aisle, Therese.”
Those words make me emotional. Allison knows everything about my life and she’s the only friend who stays by my side until this moment. Before it rains of tears, I mess up her hair and embrace her back.
“We have to go, Allison. Please take good care of our twins.”
“Hurry up! Make sure to come back before dusk.” Allison reminds me always.
I nod and wave my hand at her until Trevor helps me get into the chariot. As we’re leaving, I can’t stop thinking about the twins. I should have brought them with us.
Trevor holds my hands, knowing how scared I am right now. Then he moves my head onto my chest.
He said, “Everything will be fine, Therese. They will be safe.”
His soft voice somehow calms me down. I can no longer see Allison and twins, helping me to concentrate.
“Thank you for being here with me.” I murmur and lean my head on his chest the entire ride.
Two hours later, we arrived at my hometown. It’s been a long time since I left, and I can remember every little thing that happened.
“Welcome to my hometown,” I mumble, waiting to see his reaction.
Yet, Trevor’s face remains the same. It seems like it’s not his first time being here. Instead of asking him about it, I ignore it and lead the way to my father’s house.
Along our way, a lot of eyes are all on us. They never thought of me going back with the father of my children. They judged me before, but I never thought of hurting them in return.
"Is that Therese?"
"Who's with her? He smells like one of us!"
I hear them murmuring. I don't care about their opinions, I'll let them guess instead.
"Why are they looking at us?" Trevor asks me.
A playful smile flaunts on my face. I know the reason why, but it's only a waste of time.
"Let them. It's the first time I came back home with someone." I reply.
Trevor nods as an answer.
From a distance, I notice my beloved father having a meeting with his subordinates. They look serious when one of them sees me.
"Therese, you're back!"
His voice catches everyone's attention. They turn around, realizing it's true that I come back home with the man who impregnated me a year ago.
Their eyes say it all. They're surprised and can't believe I have the strength to face my father who abandoned me.
"Good to see you again, father." I speak as soon as our eyes meet.
Father remains silent. He looks surprised, but he's more curious about the man standing right next to me.
"Who are you?" He asks Trevor.
"Trevor Gulfen, Sir."
Like a flash of lightning, everyone gathers around him. They can't take their eyes away from him.
"Identify yourself, young man!" Father speaks.
I know Trevor isn't an ordinary being. I can smell an exceptional scent that only alphas have.
Trevor sighs. He looks at me for a second then smiles, telling me to trust him.
"I am the father of your grandchildren and I am an alpha, Sir."
Father almost lost control upon hearing about Trevor's identity. He can't believe it. It's hard to accept that an alpha will be his son-in-law sooner or later.
