4- Marriage Proposal

This is unbelievable!

How can he appear out of nowhere? He hid for one, long year and didn’t try to contact me even once at all!

Seeing his face makes me nervous, angry, and excited. There’s a part of my system that is happy knowing I can face my father and relatives again. With dignity and honor, I will come back and prove to them that I’m not just merely a troublemaker.

Out of shock, I told him to follow me to the woods, away from everyone. I don’t want anyone to hear about him, especially my father.

Silent as I can, I lead the way to the spot where I usually go every time, I feel sad and overwhelmed by the situation. I’m happy as well, knowing how obedient he is.

I was about to step on the massive rock before me when I accidentally slipped off to the right side. Lucky enough, the twins’ father moves quickly, catching me on time.

I gasp, looking at his alluring eyes for a second.

“Are you okay?”

As soon as I get back to my senses, I nod and look away from his gaze.

“Yes, I’m okay! I… I just missed that pretty, massive rock!” I replied quickly.

I don’t want to be a crying baby or too emotional about his actions. We are here to discuss our twins, nothing personal at all.

But before I can take another step, he grabs my arm. The warmth coming from his body flows directly into my bare arms, giving me a tingling sensation.

What the hell is wrong with me? Why do I feel this way with a single touch of him?

The last time I check, I’m literally fine.

“This is not my usual self and I have to calm down!” I thought without looking away from him.

“You look so nervous, unlike a year ago when I met you.” He speaks without any hesitation on his face.

I don’t know why he suddenly showed up like nothing happened to my life since he was missing. Looking at his perfect face makes me think that maybe he already has a family, and that he chose them over me.

I look down to the ground, breathing heavily before I take another step forward. We must talk about our situation, knowing my father’s wrath.

“Hurry up! We must be careful.” I mumble softly.

Like what I’ve said earlier, he’s obedient enough to follow me behind without any question. His composure remains the same until we reach the perfect and safe spot where no one can see us.

There’s a small entrance covered with bushes. I intentionally made this to protect myself every time I want to be alone.

“Come inside,” I said shortly. “Don’t worry, we are safe here.”

“Just lead the way inside.” He coldly replies, giving me a chill down to my spine.

To reach our destination quickly, I walk too fast while thinking about our conversation. I’ve waited for this moment for so long, and now that he’s here a massive thorn is finally free from my chest.

As soon as I see the second, secret entrance, I slightly push the door made up of old wood. Then I look behind and nod my head saying to follow me inside.

For a few seconds, his eyes roam around the tunnel-like place. Then he put his hands into his pocket while tilting his head.

“You’ve got a perfect hideaway!” He mumbles.

“Let me go to the point.”

“Yes, go ahead. I’m ready to listen and answer all your questions, young lady.”

I won’t deny that I wasn’t prepared for this, but his cold, jaw-dropping charisma distracts me. The same feeling appears within my chest, just like the first time we met.

To know if he’s telling me the truth, I look deeply into her eyes. All I can is sincerity and guilt. Guilt? For what? For leaving me behind and letting me endure all the pain that my family caused me?

However, it’s not about myself anymore. I want to protect the twins from any danger and having their father beside me would be a good idea.

To end this conversation, I gasp for a second. Then I look at his eyes without any hesitation.

“What are your plans now? I’m expecting you have thought about it before coming back to our lives.” I speak softly.

To be honest, I never had the chance to know his name, age, and everything. It makes me a dirty woman who simply slept with a stranger and got pregnant.

It’s a shame but thinking about the past will never solve our problems at this moment.

For a second, I waited for an answer. The look on his face suddenly lights up when his beautiful, white set of teeth flaunts so perfectly.

He moves closer to me and asks courageously, “Will you marry me, Therese?”

My entire body couldn’t move upon hearing such a blunt question. I never expected him to talk about marriage right away. Due to shock, my feet are stuck on the ground while I’m trying to think about it.

“I repeat, will you marry me for our twins and give me another chance to prove that I will never leave your side again?”

His soft, solemn voice calmed me at the speed of light. His presence alone turns me into a better version of myself who once committed a grave sin.

For how many months I suffered, blamed myself for my mistakes. I never imagined how a wild night has changed my whole life. But as soon as I held my twins, everything disappeared. They became my world.

At this moment, I must decide quickly but wisely. To protect our twins from danger, I won’t hesitate to say yes despite all the pain I’ve gone through.

Before I utter a single word, I stare at him making sure I’m doing the right thing. If I marry him, it will guarantee our twins’ lives and that’s what I prayed for so long.

“Yes, I will marry you.” I pause and his face remains vibrant.

“For the twins.”

Suddenly, his expression changes making me confused and guilty.
