Abusive

Victoria’s POV

I wanted to give her a chance, I wanted to listen to her excuse, the reason she never looked for me, the reason she left me. One chance is all I am giving her.

“Speak.” I say rudely, I hate the way she looked at me as if I gave her the biggest betrayal. I didn’t want to look into her eyes, it would make me forgive her, deep down I felt like she felt bad.

“Why did you leave? Is it because of money.” I ask.

“I didn’t have a choice, your father- he did nothing.” I say interrupting her.

“He hit me, I couldn’t take it anymore.” She says. "I loved him, I didn't realize when he became abusive."

That is not true, dad loved mom so much there is no way he hit her.

“When you are ready to tell me the truth, you know where to find me.”

“I’m not lying, you can ask him. I know I was selfish enough to leave and never look back but I couldn’t take it anymore, there is no day I didn’t think about you Vicky.”

“Don’t call me that.” I yelled. "You are lying, Dad will never hurt you. I know dad, you have no idea the pain caused us by leaving."

“I missed you so much, I was scared if I try to contact you he would do something worse than hitting me.” She cries. "I should have tried finding you darling, there isn't a day I haven't thought about you."

“Why are you lying? I never saw the marks, I never heard anything.”

“Because I was trying to protect you, please.” She says, I didn’t listen anymore, I walked away. I can’t allow her tarnish my father’s name, I know dad and one thing I know is that dad can be anything but a woman beater.

A series of tears slips out of eyes tainting my cheek, I covered my face with my hand as I choked back a sob, I shouldn’t have come here, I should stayed away. I got into the car holding back the sob.

“Take me to the hospital.” I say to the driver and he nods.

I need to see Dad, I can’t believe she would lie. She has no idea what we have been through. I wanted to tell her what happened after she left but I felt she doesn't deserve it.

He would never hit her, my subconscious says.

I let out a breath walking out of the car, I rushed in.

“Dad.” I smiled weakly, no matter I can’t let him know we found her.

“What is wrong? Is it Kelvin.” He asks and I shake my head.

“Can you please not ask any questions.” I say and he nods.

I just want to be here with him, I felt my phone vibrating my my pocket. It’s Kelvin. I instantly cut the call and sent him a message, I know the moment I speak to him I will burst in tears. I didn’t want dad seeing that.

“You get out in one week.” I smile.

“I can finally visit the beach after a long time.”

“You can stay with Kelvin and I for a while.” I offered. I don’t want him to be alone.

“I won’t want to intrude, I know how this generation is all about sex.” He says.

“Daddy no-“ I laugh, I can still remember when I saw eighteen and I have the talk with dad, it was awkward for me but he seemed to not care.

It still scars me till date.

“It’s settled you will stay with us before I get you an apartment.” I say and he smiles, until I know he is fine I want him to be with me where I can take care of him, now with the opening of the café I will have enough money for him to be hire a caretaker, someone that will be with him 24/7.

I felt a lot better speaking to dad, after that I texted Kelvin asking him to meet me. I wanted to visit my old home, the bank took it after we couldn’t pay our loan, no one has lived there after us.

It was still pretty much the same, the same broken window, the same lawn, the same painting.

I stayed outside waiting for Kelvin, when I saw his car. A small smile appeared on my face.

“Love.” He says when he walks out of the car. “You made me worried.”

“I’m sorry.” I whisper.

I take his hand guiding him toward the front porch where we took a seat.

“I was worried, you didn’t pick my call.”

“I’m sorry Kelvin, fuck I shouldn’t have met her.” I say to him. "I expected her to blame him but I had no idea she would say he hit her."

I start to explain to him everything that she told me about, I could see the rage in his eyes. I don’t want him to get angry and do something g stupid.

“You won’t hurt her, promise me.”

“Love- promise me.” I say interrupting him and he nods.

“How do you feel?.” He ask, he hold his hand in mine.

“I know she is lying but fuck I should hate myself for even having this thought-.” I whisper.

“You think maybe she is right.” He mutters and I nod. After I left the hospital a thought surrounded my head, what if she is saying the truth.

I came here to be reminded of all the pain she caused us, I came here to stop myself from even having that thought.

“I am I am stupid but fuck.”

She is nothing but a liar, she sold our future for money. she sold our future to be trohpy wife for some bastard.

“She is trying to get into your head.” He says and I nod, I know she is.

“Come inside, I want to show you my old room.” I smile.

I walk in inside the house, it was dirty, the white sheets were covered in dust. I glanced at the kitchen a memory flashed through my head, I almost feel a smile coming out of my face but I stop it.

I walk him upstairs and we went into my room. I glanced at the pictures that were hanged on the wall, they didn’t allow us leave with anything, that was one of the hardest time of our life.

“You were a cheerleader.” He says pointing at one of my pictures, I did cheerleading in school then I stopped after mom left, I just didn’t feel like it anymore.

“You were always a cutie.” Kelvin says and I smile.
