Chapter 73

Chapter 73

For a moment, Priscilla couldn't even remember when she had saved Algernon's phone number.

She answered the call out of habit, and a concerned voice came through.

"Have you seen the rumors online?" Algernon asked.

"Yes. " Priscilla said, not knowing what else to say. A long silence followed.

Perhaps feeling the awkwardness, Priscilla spoke up. "Mr. Visconti, please don't worry. I will do my best to cover any losses incurred. But this has nothing to do with the Grayson Group. I promise I have not used any dishonorable means, and I hope this will not affect your cooperation with the Grayson Group." It was hard to say, but Priscilla didn't want to drag the Grayson Group down with her.

Hearing the sadness Priscilla was trying so hard to hide, Algernon wished he could be there with her. "That's not why I called. " he said. "I believe the public can see for themselves. They can tell good work from bad."

"Thank you." For some reason, Priscilla felt much better. She stood up and looked into the distance. Just ten minutes ago, she had seen another trending topic.

"Pearl in tears after losing the Golden Throne?" Priscilla murmured, clicking on the news. The comments section was filled with sympathy for Pearl, and many were protesting.

[What's going on? Pearl is obviously the best. I don't even understand the winning design!]

[Exactly! I wouldn't believe it if you told me there was no inside story!]

[I used to think the Golden Throne was fair, but now it seems they're all the same!]

Reading the comments, Priscilla knew what was going on.

On the other end of the line, Algernon was reading the same comments. "The rumors need to be cleared up immediately. After three days, the effect will be greatly diminished. Do you have any ideas?" Algernon asked. This was her first official competition since returning to the country. If she failed this time, it would have a huge impact on her future development.

"I do have an idea, and I might need your help." Priscilla said honestly. The Visconti Group had its own entertainment company, Visconti Media Company, with countless artists and public relations teams. The Grayson Group's PR team was not on the same level as Visconti Media Company's. Since they were cooperating with the Visconti Group, it would be a waste not to use the more professional team. But she still needed Algernon's permission.

On the other end of the line, Algernon chuckled. "Okay. I'll have Aiden contact you. The PR team will cooperate with you."

At this point, public opinion online was polarized. Some people supported Priscilla, while others questioned the Golden Throne's decision.

Aiden was very efficient. He arrived at the Grayson Group building with his team in less than half an hour. In the office, the head of the PR department was already presenting a detailed plan, from collecting evidence to how to counterattack. Priscilla was amazed.

"Ms. Medici, Mr. Visconti has already given instructions. We will do everything we can. If you have no other questions, we can proceed," Aiden said, looking up at Priscilla from behind his glasses.

Priscilla had no objections.

"Then we'll get to work. If you need anything, you can message us at any time," Aiden said seriously.

"Okay, thank you for your trouble," Priscilla said gratefully. She had already given the PR department all the necessary materials. Now, all she could do was wait.

Her phone rang. It was Chase. "Grandpa?" Priscilla answered, a little confused.

"How are you?" Chase's voice was full of worry.

"I'm fine." Priscilla said, trying to sound as normal as possible.

Hearing her lie, Chase was a little angry. He was angry just reading the vicious comments. How could Priscilla, the person involved, be indifferent? He was even more nervous when he saw that some people were trying to find her address.

"They're saying they're going to find where you live. you have to be careful! You're not living alone anymore. There's Kieran and Verity. I'll arrange for a few more people to protect you these next few days. Safety is the most important thing!" Chase rambled on.

Priscilla listened quietly. Hearing that Chase was even planning to let her use a villa he had bought years ago but never used, her heart warmed. "That's not necessary, Grandpa. I have it under control," Priscilla said gently.

Chase paused. "Really?"

"Really. We're cooperating with the Visconti Group now, aren't we? Mr. Visconti has already lent us his PR team," Priscilla explained.

That explanation only made Chase more suspicious. "Just cooperation?" A PR team might seem insignificant, but it was a very important position, as they often had access to secrets that others didn't. In many cases, a PR team could even determine a company's sales.

"Of course, Grandpa. If you're not at ease, I'll come see you tonight," she said. She hadn't seen Chase in a few days and missed him.

"You don't have to come. I'll go to you. I don't have anything to do anyway," Chase said decisively. He wanted to see Verity, and he wasn't going to pass up the opportunity.

Priscilla sensed his intentions but didn't expose him. "See you tonight then."

After hanging up, Chase breathed a sigh of relief. Finn brought him some tea, and he drank it in one gulp.

"Finn, why do I feel like Quinlan has something to do with this?" Chase said, leaning back in his recliner.

Finn glanced at the door. Although they were the only two in the building, he remained vigilant. "Mr. Medici, Pearl and Ms. Quinlan Medici are indeed very close, but we have no proof." No proof meant no suspicion, at least not openly. Quinlan was also the granddaughter Chase had doted on for over a decade. Although he felt she had gone astray, the effort he had put in was not for nothing.

Chase closed his eyes. "Go find out what she's been up to these past few days, who she's been seeing. And make sure no one finds out."

Finn paused, understanding. It seemed Chase couldn't help but suspect Quinlan. But... Finn said nothing, just lowered his eyes and said, "Yes, sir."

As Finn left, Chase opened his eyes and looked at the sunlight outside the window.
