Truth unraveled

Sad music boomed into Hazel’s ear from her loud mp player, that had been her companion since after the hospital incident.

She felt more alone than ever. She couldn’t still believe that Liam had been a figment of her imagination, even though he felt so real.

Asides the last episode, she thought, he was actually a really good friend to her. She felt like she could tell him literally anything at all and he totally understood.

He felt like a best friend to some point, especially since her original best friend had been so occupied with her new boyfriend, Clare.

She was actually really happy they both of them had finally found happiness after the whole episode, though she couldn’t help but feel a bit jealous cause her best friend’s had been stolen from her.

As for Ryan, she felt a really off energy from him, she sensed something dangerous around him but she couldn’t place her head on what exactly it was, so she ended avoiding him as best as she could, though he was barely around.

For Ives, that was entirely a different story. He never showed up since after the last time he snuck out before she could wake up.

They’ve been no trace of him and she hoped he was fine whenever he was.

“It feels like death in here.” Hazel quickly wiped her eyes as her father got into her room. Grateful for the fact it was dark enough for him not to notice she had been crying.

“You a vampire or something? Why’s it so dark in here?” Beta Theo asked, as he pulled back her drapes, letting sunlight flow in as she squinted her eyes to prevent the excess sun rays from getting into her eyes.

“It’s too bright father.” Hazel whined, sitting up on her dark sheets.

“What’s with the dark decor?” Her father noted, taking a good look around her room to notice her curtains had been changed from the bright purple he knew to heavy black drapes, her bed sheet and most furnitures had been changed to black, but the paintings in her room were left at white, giving her room a monochromatic look.

“How didn’t I notice before now?” He asked, wondering when all this changes had taken place.

“If you were more observant, maybe you’d have.” Hazel threw a snide remark at him.

“I’d assume you aren’t speaking to me young lady.” He quirked a brow at her.

“Whatever father.” She said, turning her face to the other side, as she pulled her black duvet over her.

“What’s wrong darling?” Her father sat at the foot of her bed.

“Are you still worried about your wolf?” He asked, knowing she couldn’t feel her wolf since she had awoken.

“I don’t think she’s ever coming back.” Hazel let the tear she had been withholding, fall down her eyes freely.

“I think she’s just weak due to the wolfsbane. I’m sure she’ll be back soon.” His mind went back to years ago where he was suppose to slip in a pill in her food which contained wolfsbane to suppress her wolf. He wondered what amount she had consumed to fully put down her wolf that way. He remembered the doctor saying it was a miracle and she should be a really strong fighter that she actually awoke.

“What did I ever do wrong father?” She sobbed. “My wolf took time to show up and now I’m getting to get use to her, she’s stolen from me.”

“Come here.” Beta Theo opened his arms for a hug, which she moved to him and engulfed herself in his embrace.

“Investigation is still going on, to know who had laced that mug with poison before you got to use it. It still feels all planned to me.” Beta Theo said, still in the embrace of Hazel.

“I really don’t feel there’s any need to. It’s a little too late for that.” Hazel said, untangling herself from her father’s embrace.

“Father, do you remember when I was still bullied in high school?” Hazel asked.

“You shouldn’t be thinking about that now, it’s past now.” Beta Theo said, not liking where the conversywas headed.

“I know, but I feel they are some things I didn’t get to know. I really can’t round my head around what exactly it is. Do you remember my high school boyfriend, Richard?” She asked, not noticing the fear that flashed in his eyes for a moment before he concealed it.

“What about him?”

“Do you know what happened to him? How was he able to disappear without a trace and no one talking about him?” Hazel asked.

“I don’t know anything about what happened with him.”

“How about me, did anything unusual happen to me that period?” Hazel asked.

“What’s with all the questions? You should concentrate on getting better princess.” He said dismissively.

Hazel had always felt there was something he and every other person were hiding from her. She felt more convinced that there was definitely something he wasn’t telling her, and no matter what it took, she was going to find it out.

“You should get some rest darling.” Beta Theo, checked the time on his wrist. “I have to attend to the alpha soon enough.” He got to his feet.

“I’ll see you around.” He said and made his way out of her room.

He didn’t return back, neither did any of her friends for the rest of the day, as she had over heard him tell them she didn’t want to be disturbed.

Hazel got scared of falling asleep, as her dreams were haunted with various nightmares, from Richard’s rottening face to the future where everything and everyone got destroyed cause of her, to the dream of where she had the perfect life with the perfect family. Only that in this one, it becomes dark and claws come forth from the ground and pull in her whole family members while she screams at the haunted faces that comes on after her.

And she wakes up each time drenched in sweat and always feeling an eerie presence in her room.

She decided to be one with the darkness that haunted her. She changed her decor to how dark she felt her life became. She was close to giving up already, as they had taken everything from her, including her wolf. She felt so defeated. The moon goddess seem to have shut her off.

At this point she needed answers, even if it was from Genevieve, who seemed to be the only one she could reach out at the moment.

Hazel sat up on her bed and folded her legs underneath, hoping what she was about doing was going to work out.

“Genevieve?” She called out as she shut her eyes.

“If you can hear me, I need to see you right now.” She said still, with her eyes shut.

She stayed for a few more minutes but got no response asides silence and the cricketing sound of the insects outside her window.

“This was just plain stupid anyway. What was I thinking.” She opened up her eyes, readjusting herself back to her former position.

“Patience doesn’t seem to be a virtue you own.” A voice from the corner of her room said.

“Genevieve?” She asked, with her eyes widen, staring at the silhouette that sat at the chair at the corner of her room.

“One and only.” Genevieve said, pulling herself up from the seat and walked towards Hazel.

“You summoned me.” Hazel saw the smile on her face, as the little light that seeped in through a slit from the curtains to her face, as she sat on the bed close to Hazel.

“I need answers Genevieve.” Hazel ran her hand through her hair in frustration.

“My wolf isn’t responding, this nightmares keeps haunting me and everyone stares at me as though I’m mad when I make mention of someone who I was so sure existed. I’m tired and I don’t know what to do.” Hazel whined.

“Hmm.” Genevieve said, deep in thoughts.

“What do I do?” Hazel turned to her with a pleading look on her face. “I’ll do anything to get my wolf back. Anything at all. I feel so incomplete without her. So empty.” Hazel huffed out.

“You say you’ll do anything?” Genevieve asked, quirking a brow.

“Yes.” Hazel nodded.

“You’ll have to go through a ritual for that to happen.” Genevieve said, making Hazel’s eyes widen in shock.

“Don’t worry no one is going to get sacrificed.” Genevieve said quickly, making Hazel sigh out in relief.

“You’re the key to it though. Nothing can’t be done if you don’t fully open you heart and mind to it.” Genevieve added.

“Do I need to get worried?” Hazel eyed her suspiciously.

“It’s up to you darling.” She said, getting to her feet. “I’m just a call away when you’re ready.” Genevieve moved back to the dark corner she was at first.

“Hold on. I still have more questions.” Hazel called to her retreating back.

“You have a visitor now. You know how to reach me.” She said, disappearing immediately after.

“A visitor?” Hazel stared at her digital clock which read 2:30am.

“Who’d come to visit me at this time?” She pondered as she noticed a movement on her balcony.

She sat still, as she noticed a figure climb into her balcony. She quietly moved her hand down and held on the bat stick she had kept underneath her bed for times like this, especially now she didn’t have her wolf to fight.

She quietly moved to the back of the door that led to the balcony, raising the bat over her head.

“Ives?” She asked in disbelief, pulling down her bat, as she had perceived his scent first, before she actually saw it was him.

“What are you doing here?” She asked, staring at the disheveled man before her, who still looked dangerously handsome, despite how rough he looked.

“Hazel...” Ives stared at the bat in her hand, then back to her.

“You were really going to use that on me?” He chuckled, walking to her bed and plumped himself down on it.

“That was my best option at the moment.” She shrugged, dropping it by the side of the door and turned back to him.

“You should have gotten something stronger or even better, as a gun.” Ives dryly said.

“That’ll cause more damage?!” Hazel exclaimed.

“Isn’t that the aim?” He quirked a brow.

“What are you doing here anyways?” She eyed him suspiciously. “You’ve lost weight.”

“I came to see you.” He sighed. “I’ve missed you.”

“Why did you run off.” She asked, taking a sit beside him on her bed.

“I couldn’t see you in pains Hazel. I hated myself over and over again, when I saw you lie lifeless on that hospital bed.” Ives placed his face into his palms.

“I’m really sorry Hazel. Please forgive me.”

“Hey, look at me.” She held both his hands and making him look to her.

“It wasn’t your fault. You didn’t know someone had planted poison in a cup I was going to drink from, and I didn’t have the intuitive to rinse the cup or check it out before using it, cause I let my anger get the best of me.” She said, trying to believe herself that, it was what had happened and not what she had seen.

“If I hadn’t gotten you angry, this wouldn’t hav—“

“Shh.” Hazel placed a finger on his lips to shut him up.

“I have questions and you’ll tell me all you know about them.” Hazel drew back and sat up straight.

“Okay?”

“Who’s Liam?” She asked.

“Liam? I really don’t know, but Betty said something on having a cousin named Liam.” Ives shrugged.

“I knew it!” Hazel raised her fist in excitement.

“So was he the cause of the fight?”

“No?” Ives gave her a confused look. “Betty only mentioned him but he never came here.”

“Ohh.” Hazel sighed out in defeat.

“I’d want to meet him though.”

Ives gave her a quizzical look.

“What happened to Richard? And don’t you dare lie to me.” Hazel deadpanned, seeing him give a look like a deer caught in headlights.

“Hazel, are—“

“The truth Ives.”

He sighed out, letting a long stretch of silence between them before speaking up.

“You killed him.”
