Twist
“Hazel?” Someone called out to her from a distance.
“Can you hear me Hazel?” Another voice called out.
She tried responding to them that she could hear them, but her throat felt so heavy.
She tried struggling out, but darkness, just like a cloak, engulfed her again.
“I think she’s awake!” Hazel heard someone call out, as she stirred on the bed.
“Hazel, you’re awake.” Fay’s excited voice flooded her face.
She slowly opened her eyes to see a white ceiling, rather than the dark ceiling with unreal stars on it.
“Where am I?” She slowly asked, trying to look around her.
“You’re in the hospital.” Fay said.
“What?” Hazel jerked up, feeling a sharp pain on her arm, as she had pulled on the iv connected to her vein, as the cpu blared.
“Calm down Hazel. You’ll hurt yourself.” Fay said, gently pushing her back to rest on the pillow.
“Here.” Fay handed her a glass of water, which she gulped down, calming her cranky throat.
“How long have I been out?” She asked, looking around the hospital room, raising a brow at the line of flowers by the window.
“For a week now.” Fay said.
“What?” Hazel’s eyes widen.
“You’ve been slipping in and out of consciousness for a week now. I’m glad you’re finally back, we were all getting scared.” Fay sighed out.
Hazel’s eyes moved back to the various flowers lined on her sill.
Fay followed eyes and gave a knowing smile.
“Ives has been bringing you flowers every single day, hoping you’d wake up soon. I think he feels really sorry for what he did. Isn’t that so sweet.” Fay gushed as Hazel rolled her eyes.
“What of Liam?” Hazel asked, seeming curious to know what happened after she passed out.
“Liam? Who’s that?” Fay asked, cringing her head in confusion.
“Liam, Betty’s cousin. The one who came for her graduation and stayed back afterwards.” Hazel explained.
“Betty has a cousin that came here? Uhm are you sure you’re feeling okay Hazel?” Fay touched her head with the back of her hand, to check her temperature.
“I’m serious Fay.” Hazel sat up, pulling Fay’s hand from her forehead.
“Liam and Ives had a fight cause of me, and that’s why I ended up here right?” Hazel said.
“What are you talking about Hazel?” Fay gave her a look of concern. “I think I should go get the doctor.” Fay stood to her feet and headed to the door.
“That’s the first thing I should have done. Stupid stupid me.” Fay slapped on her forehead as she made her way out of the door to get the doctor.
Hazel wondered why Fay acted that way, probably cause she didn’t get who she was talking about or something.
Fay later came in with the doctor, Clare and Ryan.
“She seems to be saying nonsense since she woke up.” Fay explained, as she and the doctor rounded Hazel’s bed.
“How are you feeling Hazel?” The doctor smiled, as he looked down at her.
“I’m fine.” She said.
“Migraines? Flashbacks? Feeling weird in anyway?” The doctor asked, scribbling on his notepad.
“No.” Hazel shook her head.
“You’re doing well then. Take enough rest. You’ll be back on your feet in no time.” The doctor adviced.
“Keep a close eye at her. She just woke up from a coma, so she’s very likely to say things which don’t exist. It’s all part of it. Just let her rest enough and feed well. She’ll be back in no time.” The doctor said, as though Hazel wasn’t right there.
“See you soon.” The doctor said, as he made his way out.
“Hey.” Clare waved at Hazel after the doctor left.
How are you doing?”
“Hey.” Ryan smiled at her.
“So you all are saying Liam was just a figment of my imagination?” Hazel asked, looking at each of them, who looked at themselves in a confused manner.
“Who’s Liam?” Ryan asked.
“Really?!” Hazel huffed out in frustration.
“Are you sure you’re okay?” Ryan sat on the bed, taking her hand in his.
“I need to see Ives. I need answers.” Hazel said, noticing the tensed look they all gave themselves.
“Uhm, about that.” Clare started, scratching the back of his head.
“He ran off to the woods since you lost consciousness, he blames himself for the poison you took.” Clare said.
“I don’t understand. So how come the flowers?” She asked, looking at Fay who said Ives had been bringing flowers to her.
“He sneaks into your room every night to drop the flowers and runs off before anyone gets to see him. It was creepy for the nurses at first, but they got use to it. Probably found it cute later on.” Fay explained.
“None of this makes sense.” Hazel said. “What happened to me?”
“You can’t remember?” Fay gave a knowing look to both Ryan and Clare, gulping down.
“Speak already.”
“Okay, you and Ives had a fight, over Betty I guess, You stormed out on him and walked to the kitchen, grabbing the first cup you saw, without looking into it. You turned in a drink and it gulped down, or so, falling down almost immediately. Ives saw you first and rushed you to the hospital, before any one else could realize.”
Hazel stared in shock, as she had no recollection of anything Fay said.
“Your situation was actually crucial. Ives thought you weren’t going to make it, that’s why he’s been out of it since you got here.”
“Hold on. So you’re telling me, there’s no Liam in the picture, and Ives did not punch me by mistake making me faint cause I tried separating a fight between them both?” Hazel asked in shock.
“I think the effect of the poison you consumed is what is affecting you Hazel.” Ryan spoke up. “From the tests, the doctor said there were traces of strychnine and wolfsbane in your blood. Which means, if Ives had wasted a minute more, you’d have died from the effect.” Ryan explained.
“So it’s possible that all what you’re saying about Liam and all, would be the images formed in your head when you got into coma. It’s actually a normal occurrence for those who slip into coma.” Clare who had been silent for while, spoke up.
“Hazel?” They all turned their gaze to the door, to see Beta Theo standing by the door, with a sullen look.
“I came here immediately I heard you’ve awoken.” He rushed to get side, as Ryan got up to let him take the space he occupied.
“I thought I lost you baby.” He sniffed, taking both her hands in it and placing his head on it.
Fay signaled the boys that they should give them privacy. They all quietly left the room, shutting the door behind them.
“I’m so sorry you had to go through this.” Beta Theo apologized. Letting the tear fall out his eyes, as he raised his head back up to look at her.
“Please forgive me, I’ve failed you as a father.” He pleaded.
“It’s fine dad, none of this is your fault.” She said, folding her hand on his.
“At least I’m awake now.”
“I was so scared that I’ll loose you too. They’ll have been no use of me living anymore. I’m so sorry my baby.”
She gestured him to come closer for a hug.
“I love you dad.” She said, as they were both in their embrace.
“I love you too darling.”
They both stayed that way for a short while, before food was brought in for her.
Fay, Clare and Ryan did all they could to cheer her up while they were still around, but still she felt something was missing. The feeling grew stronger after they all left.
“You there?” Hazel called out to her wolf, worried as he hadn’t heard from her all day.
“Hey.” She called out again, but she felt nothing but void, just like few years ago when her wolf was non existent.
“Please tell me you’re still there.” Hazel whispered, as tears ran down her eyes.
“Please don’t leave me, not now please.” Hazel sobbed, as she got no response from her wolf.
Hazel felt lost and broken as she knew her wolf was gone. She didn’t know how it happened or what happened to her but what she knew was, she was in deep shit already. She called out to the moon goddess to give her answers but she got no response.
She ended up breaking down in tears till she slept off finally.
Ives who watched her from her window, which was on the third floor, felt his heart sink as he watched her cry herself to sleep. He took the blame for everything that happened to her and wouldn’t stop beating himself over it till forever, having putting her through the pain she was.
He slipped in through the window, as he did for the past few nights, stabling his claws on the wall he grabbed and carefully shutting the window after him.
He placed another flower by the sill, as he had done for the past few nights.
Walked to the door to peep if anyone was heading this way, before clicking the lock as he saw no one.
He scratched on his beard scrub that he hadn’t shaved for over a week now, making him look three times his age, as he walked to Hazel’s bed stand.
“I’m so sorry Hazel.” He went on his knees, placing her hands in his.
“I put you through a lot of pain cause I’ve been selfish. I’m so sorry.” He sobbed.
“I know you can’t hear me now, but I love you Hazel. I love you so much that I can’t forgive myself for doing this to you. If we hadn’t had that fight, you wouldn’t have gone to the kitchen to get a drink at that moment. Damn.” He ran his free hand on his disheveled hair.
Hazel stirred on her bed, as she felt a presence beside her. She slowly opened up her eyes to see no one in the room.
She sat up and looked around, she could swear that she heard a voice and felt a hand on hers.
She dropped her feet on the floor and rolled the stand which had the bag of drip hung on it to the window, which she noticed was slightly open.
“Ives?” She called out, as his scent lingered around and she noticed a new flower in the collection.
She didn’t understand why he didn’t want her seeing him.

The Devil’s realm.
“You should grab hold of your Miranda bitch, before I’ll do what I’m not supposed to!” Esmeralda ranted out angrily, as she paced around Lucifer’s throne room.
“Everything was going so fucking well. I was so close to getting Hazel, using Richard in Liam’s body to posses her when Miranda sprouts from nowhere to twart everything!”
Esmeralda kept pacing.
“How was she even able to pull that? Made them forget about Liam after changing the whole picture and poisoning Hazel. She must have someone who’s backing her up. What if it’s one of the other princes.” Esmeralda placed her hand on her jaw thinking.
“You’re not even saying anything Lucifer!” She turned over to Lucifer who sat on his throne, mindless of what was happening around him, as he feed on the meat in the plate beside him.
“Oh my dear, I never involve myself in matters which involves women.” Lucifer said boredly.
“What do you mean by that? I am working for you and your demons so you don’t have your asses dragged to hell!” She screamed.
“Tsk, tsk. Don’t make it sound like you’re doing me a favor. I have my side of the bargain too.” Lucifer raised his brow at her.
“By the way, Miranda is just a little competition. I’m sure you’ll be more serious with what you’re doing from now. See Miranda as a motivation.”
He smiled at her scowling face.
