Nostalgia
Present...
“Hey.” Clare said, as he took a sit close to Hazel, on the bench she sat in, close to the school’s field.
“Hey.” Hazel smiled at him, clearing her books that sat close to her.
“Hope you don’t mind that I join you here.” He said, placing both his hands at the back of the bench, looking ahead.
“Nah, it’s fine. There’s enough space for two.” Hazel said. A short moment of comfortable silence stretched before them.
“This place remains me a lot of our favorite place, back in high school.” Clare broke the silence, still looking ahead.
“Yeah, that was the only place I could think.” She chuckled, as memories from there came flowing in.
“Remember when we first met there, that you were screaming on top your voice, when my brothers played a prank on you.” Clare said, smiling.
“Yes, that you gave me your sweater to use. I can never forget a gesture of kindness.” She laughed. “You saved my ass that day.”
“Your hello kitty ass.”
“Hey.” She nudged him with her elbow. “Only if you knew how long it took to make that scandal go down. I mean, I was in the school news for the week, drawn as a cartoon with my hello kitty panties in display. It was one of the most embarrassing moments then.” They both laughed out.
“I had to always pull my hoodie to cover my whole face when I walk the school hallway and always check my seat for any kind of threat, before taking a sit. It was extremely tasking for me. But I’m glad I’m way over that now.” She sighed out.
“I think my best childhood days was when I could spend it with you. I always loved your company and you were just like my journal, my live journal, where I could tell everything to.” He sighed, still looking straight ahead.
“I found it quite weird that for a guy, you kept a journal, which was just same thing as a diary.” Hazel shook her head.
“It wasn’t a diary.” Clare defended, giving her a look.
“Seemed like a diary to me.” She laughed.
“Whatever that makes you sleep well at night princess.” He rolled his eyes, laughing alongside. “Reminds me. I haven’t still forgiven you for taking a peep into my journal.” Clare raised a brow at her.
“Oh really?” She feigned a scared look. “What do I have to do to please my lord.” She gushed out, with a dramatic look.
“Marry me.” Clare said, looking back to the view before them.
“That’s the only way to gain my forgiveness.” He chuckled. “Don’t worry, I’ll provide you with the best life, We’ll have a beautiful home and lots of pups and we’ll live happily ever after.”
Hazel stared at him for a moment, searching to see any hint of playfulness on his face, so she’ll be rest assured that he was just playing around, but she saw none.
“If this was a proposal, I’d say no, without having to reconsider.” She shook her head, smiling.
“Why? Not like it’s a proposal or I’m serious about it, I just want to know why?” He turned to face her.
“Hmmmm.” Hazel placed a hand on her chin, as though in deep thinking, before heaving out.
“For one, that’s the most unromantic proposal in the history of proposals.” She laughed out.
“Okay?” He had an amused smile playing on his lips. “What’s the second reason.”
“Asides Fay, you’re like a best friend to me and no matter how hard I try, I don’t see you in another light.”
“Ohh.” He said, not liking the sinking he felt in his chest, when she said it.
“You have a good soul Clare, you’re sweet, caring and all, you deserve the best, only that you’re best, isn’t me. I know you’ve liked me for a while now, but my heart aches for just one person.” She held his hand.
“Ives yeah?” Clare forced a smile on his face, pulling his hand from hers and placing it back behind the bench, as he leaned back in.
“I know things aren’t so good and rosy now, and it seems like he’s inclined to someone else, but I can’t help but feel the way I feel towards him. It’s extremely frustrating but I can’t control it, it’s like a big joke the moon goddess is probably having the time of her life, enjoying the show.” Hazel sighed out, leaning back to the bench rest.
“We don’t always get what we want.” Clare gave out a short chuckle.
“I’m really sorry Clare. I don’t want to loose you as a friend, but we can’t be together.” Hazel pleaded.
“What if I turn out to be the alpha of the pack and we become mates when the blue moon arises?” Clare asked, with a glint of hope playing in his eyes.
“If the moon goddess wants it that way, I believe the mate bond will ignite something in me, towards you.” She shrugged.
“Then, I’ll try to make the moon goddess make me the next alpha.” He smiled.
“Haven’t you always been a cute one?” She laughed and he followed suit, lifting off the heavy tension that started building up between them.
“But to think of it, what do you think about Fay?” Hazel asked, giving a sneaky smile, as she saw Fay approaching them.
“Uhm, she’s cute and nice.” Clare shrugged, not giving thought to the question.
“So, you think Fay is cute yea?” Hazel hiked her voice a bit to the hearing of Fay, who was close by already.
“Yeah, I think so.” He replied, not noticing Fay who stood right behind him, with her face as red as a tomato, on hearing their last conversation as she came close.
“Oh, hey Fay.” Hazel called out, making Clare turn abruptly, to see Fay right behind him.
“How..when did you get here?” Clare stuttered, embarrassed to the fact that he didn’t realize that he had just admitted to Fay being cute, while she was just right behind him.
“Just now.” Fay smiled shyly.
“Come on, come sit here.” Hazel said, shifting over to the other end of the bench, making Fay sit between both of them.
She had always known that Fay had a huge crush on Clare, but couldn’t bring herself to admit it. It never went unnoticed to her the fact that Fay always had a blush on, whenever she got to pass by Clare and could literally turn to a gooey mess if there is the slightest of physical contact between both of them.
“I think my yoga class is now. I’ll see you two both later.” Hazel got to her feet, packing up all her books and placed it on her arm.
“Hey, you can’t leave me here, I came to see you.” Fay’s eyes widen in shock.
“I’m sorry darling, I have to go now.” She smiled and bent to whisper in Clare’s ear.
“I think she likes you.” She gave them both a wink as she moved back, then made her way to the school building, leaving them both.
She felt so good playing cupid. It was only sad she couldn’t say same for her love life.
Hazel made her way to the girls locker room after her yoga class to wash up and change back to the clothing she wore to school.
She quickly undressed and made her way to the bathroom washing up, when she felt eyes on her back.
“What the fuck bitch?!” Hazel quickly covered both her breast and private part with both her hands, as she turned over to see Betty staring at her, with an emotion she couldn’t displace, playing in her eyes.
“You’ve got really pretty titties.” Betty smiled, leaning at the bathroom entrance.
“You crazy? What the fuck are you even doing here?” Hazel asked agitated and fuming already.
“Oh. I school here now.” Betty shrugged, pulling off the towel she had wrapped around her body, exposing her whole naked body in display.
“What the fuck! Get out!” Hazel yelled out, pointing her out of the bathroom.
“Chill, I just want to take s shower.” Betty said, moving closer.
“There are many other bathrooms here, go have your bath in one of them.” Hazel said, trying not to loose her cool.
“I want to use this one.” Betty kept walking to get directly under the shower, brushing her breast on Hazel’s arm.
“I don’t even know why I bother.” Hazel said, as she grabbed her own towel and walked out of the bathroom back to her locker in the ladies room to change up.
“Seems like everyone lost a nut from their head on their bed today.” Hazel angrily muttered.
“Could this day get better?” She sighed, putting on the last of her clothing, before shutting her locker close and made her way outside, leaving school at once.
She had no idea where Fay had gone after she left. She checked back at the field, neither her or Clare was anywhere there. She made her way to the car park, with hopes that she’ll see her probably waiting for her by her car, but all she saw instead was an empty car park, with no other car asides hers and one other, in sight, and no form of Fay too.
She dialed her number but it went straight to voicemail.
“Damn, Fay pick up.” She tried again, but it still went to voicemail.
“Fuck! How did this happen?!” She exclaimed, as she got to her car and realized that two of her tyres had gone flat.
“Trouble in paradise?” Ryan called out from his car, where he stood to watch her for a while.
“oh hey, Ryan.” She nodded.
“What’s wrong?” He asked, as he got close to her.
“My tyres are flat.” She threw her hands down in frustration.
“Damn.” He said, as he bent low to see how bad it was.
“This is bad. I don’t think you can drive with this.” He got back to his feet. “It’s no big deal though, I’ll send a tow truck to take it to be fixed. Then I’ll take you back home.” Ryan offered.
“No, thank you, I have it in control.” Hazel said, refusing his offer.
“You have it in control, or you’re just trying to avoid me Hazel? Ryan quirked his brow at her, as he leaned on her car.
“No, why would I do that?” She asked, frantically shaking her head.
“Then let me drop you off.” He offered again.
“Alright fine.” She said, and walked up to his car.
“Mi lady.” Ryan gave a charming smile as he pulled open the car door to let her in.
“That was unnecessary.” She said, as she got in, making Ryan chuckle in response.
He turned and was about getting into the driver’s seat, when he saw Ives standing by the building entrance, and looking their direction with a scowl on his face. Ryan smiled at him, before getting into his car.
“Isn’t that Ives with Betty?” Ryan asked, as he turned on the engine and slowly drove out of the car park, to give Ives a good view of who he had in his car, as Hazel looked up from her phone immediately she heard his name mentioned.
She saw Betty rush off to Ives, grabbing his arm once she got to him.
“They make such a handsome couple.” Ryan said, referring to Ives and Betty, as Ives met gazes with Hazel. Something which seemed to becoming a routine between both of them, only that there was a scowl on both their faces, as they looked their direction.
Hazel was the first to stop the stare and turn to her front, as they passed them both.
“I really don’t know what’s with his girl toy, by his side.” Hazel said, breaking off the silence between them.
“I don’t know, all I can say is, it’s sad he couldn’t get someone even half pretty as you.”
Hazel smiled as he zoomed off.
