Chapter 63 Wrong decision
Uriel's POV
"Seriously, I don't want to hear it." Covering my ears, I ran down the stairs.
"You're just being a brat right now and I swear -"
"You'll eliminate me? Oh please, say something new, Mum." Rolling my eyes, I picked up my bag from the counter where I had dropped it earlier.
"Uriel, I'm warning you." She pointed at me, her eyes blazing with rage.
"And I'm giving you just few weeks to cut whatever off. I mean it." Without waiting to hear what she was going to say, I banged the door.
Frowning, my boots aggressively stomped on the sidewalk as I made my way to the bus station.
"Uriel! Oh thank goodness I met you." Lance waved at me, running to come meet me.
My eyebrow furrowed in confusion as I stared at him. My eyes roamed his body from up to down, taking in his look.
If anyone told me Lance would be in a tight skinny jean and halfway buttoned up shirt, with his hair permed, I would laugh at your face and tell you you're bluffing.
But here, I was - looking at him.
It was real.
"What ...what's this?" The words breathlessly came out of my lips.
"You don't like it? I thought I could, you know, do a little change here and there." He shrugged, smiling up at me.
My eyes fluttered as I tried to process it slowly. "O..Kay?"
Stiffly, I turned back to the pathway I was walking. From time to time, I'd turn to look at him, wondering if someone was forcing this on him; or if he was doing this to impress...
Someone.
Not me, of course.
Because this look is ridiculous.
"I was thinking we -"
The sound of a car horn honking loud got our attention, cutting him off too. Lance face turned red as his eyes met that of Ryder.
"We have unfinished business, Kennedy." Ryder said casually, his eyes trained on just me.
"Bro, scram!" Lance stood in front of me, pointing at Ryder to leave. "She doesn't like you forcing yourself on her."
I blinked severally, looking at Lance.
Since when did he become my mouthpiece?
"Get in, Kennedy." Ryder said, his voice stern.
Lance grabbed my arm, shaking his head, "she will not. She didn't even ask for your help!"
"Uriel?" Ryder raised his eyebrow at me, pushing the passenger side door open.
Lance pushed the door shut, glaring at Ryder, "I said, no."
"Enough!" I yelled, pulling my hands away from Lance's grip. "When you both are done being babies, you know where to find me."
"Uri, wait. I can -"
"Don't." I warned, pointing at Lance. "Don't follow me. I just want to get to school on my own." I screamed, throwing my hands up in the air in frustration.
Luckily, they both obeyed. I even watched Ryder drive past me with speed and could feel Lance's eyes on my back from a good distance.
"Guess! The boys and us are in the same study group!" Kathie squealed, holding my hand but then stopped when she saw I wasn't excited one bit.
"You good, Uri?" Chloe placed her hand on my back, rubbing me up and down.
I pinched my eyes close, letting out a shaky breath. "I'll be fine. It's just -"
Lance approached us, making me clamp my mouth shut.
Kathie snickered first before laughing out loud, "what the fuck are you wearing bro?"
"Are you sure you can breathe?" Chloe chuckled, eyeing him up and down.
Jeez, these people were meannnn.
I like it.
Lance frowned at them, turning away immediately. Instantly, my heart dropped for him.
"Guysss." I scolded, pouting at his retreating figure.
"He's even walking like he's carrying some poop in his ass." Kathie repeatedly slapped my shoulder as she laughed.
I snorted, biting my lips immediately.
"No, I will not join you two." Shaking my head, I left them.
The school wasn't so full. Mainly because the lesson was just for senior classes. Even so, not everyone attended it too.
"Ahh!" A loud yelp escaped my lips when something pulled me into God knows where.
"So, Lance huh?" Ryder's eyes held this sinister look. He placed his hand above my head, looking down at me.
My eyes scanned the environment first and foremost. It was one of our less frequently used classes. Then a soft sigh left my lips.
"You like him?" Ryder asked again, his tone sharp.
"I don - " I paused, raising my eyebrow, "does that affect you?"
His jaw ticked, his eyes boring into mine. He didn't respond, just staring at me like he was searching for something.
"Was it a mistake?" He asked calmly, his chest heaving up and down. "Did it mean nothing?"
No. No. No.
Don't put me on spot.
Think, Uriel.
Would Kathie and Chloe want you to answer this?
"I don't know, you tell me." I shot back, digging my nails into my palm as I awaited his response.
My heart was thumping loud.
"Don't fuck with me, Uriel. You initiated it." His hands curled around my neck - his grip not so tight.
My eyes fluttered as I stared into his eyes. They had turned ice cold.
"I... I don't know." I lied, peeling his hand away impulsively. "You kissed me back, how about you?"
He scoffed, tucking his hand in his pocket, "I really hoped you wouldn't say shit." He looked down at his shoe, moving his legs left and right before raising his face up, his eyes void of emotion, "Leave, Kennedy."
Huh?
"Leave!"
Flinching, my body whipped to the door, hurriedly letting myself out.
As I walked back to my friends, I began to question myself.
Am I doing something wrong here?
What's so bad in admitting I wanted it?
I mean, he made a move last night in the car ...
Oh goodness.
I just made him feel stupid. Or worse, used.
"The class is about to start, Uri. Hurry up!" Chloe beckoned at me from the door.
My eyes were glued on her but my mind had turned back. Following my racing heart, I spun around, running back to that class; to Ryder.
I was welcomed with the shock of my life when I opened the door. Swallowing hard, I took a retreating step backward, slowly. My lungs felt like they were closing up on me as I struggled to get air in.
God, I'm so stupid.
