Chapter 40 No different from mother

Chapter 40 No different from mother
Uriel's POV

"Ahhhhhh!!!"

We both screamed, clutching each other's chest.

"What are you doing here?" We asked simultaneously.

"It's my house?" She raised her eyebrow up at me.

I paused, blinking several times, dumbfounded.

"Y.. your - I'm in your house?" I managed to ask.

"Ryder's room, specifically." Desire raised her eyebrow at me, a sly smirk on her lips.

"No." I shook my head. First, because I didn't want to believe it. Second, because I was trying to debunk what she was thinking.

"Why are you yelling, Dee baby?" Mrs. Karina's voice echoed from downstairs

"It's just... an unexpected guest." Desire wiggled her eyebrow at me.

"She can't see me." I whispered, shaking my head.

Desire gave me thumbs up.

"It's one of those malnourished looking whores your brother bring home, isn't it?" Mrs Karina's voice was cold.

"This one is different." Desire helped me shut the door.

As I rested my back on the door, my heart slammed hard in my chest, almost coming out of my mouth.

God, just this once.

My eyes caught onto my reflection on the mirror, noticing my outfit -

What the fuck was I doing in his shirt?

"Let me talk to her." Karina's voice snapped me back to reality, my eyes flying open.

"Move away. Now." She pressed.

My eyes darted around the room, panicked. I ran to the bed, covering myself with his duvet.

Very silly move.

If you were me with no obvious hiding spot, what will you do?

The door opened minutes later.

My eyes shut closed, tight.

I held my breath, mentally saying my last prayers.

"Come out."

My head shook under the duvet, clutching it tight.

"You don't want me pulling this out."

My eyes flew wide open, a small frown etching on my forehead. I brought the duvet down, glaring daggers at Ryder.

He couldn't even keep up the act for long.

"You think this is funny?"

He snorted, "it is. Very funny. Like, how do you even think?" He pointed at the duvet.

"Subtle way of calling me stupid. Gee, thanks Ry." I said dryly, wincing seconds later.

"Yeah, thank me for saving you from being knocked out at 17." He frowned, the brightness gone in nanosecond.

"T..thank you." I couldn't remember much but I knew I was drugged when I foolishly took that drink.

Like it wasn't all his fault.

"Auntie would be gone in 5 minutes." His eyes roamed his eyes up my legs, slowly. "You can't leave here like that."

I followed the trail of his eyes, biting my lips for a split second. "I... I can't repeat my outfit."

He raised his eyebrow at me, his arms folded. "Why?"

"It's short?" I folded my arms over my chest. My eyes widened when I felt how squishy my coo-coos were. "Did we... Did I..."

He scoffed, turned away. "Don't flatter yourself, Kennedy. You're not all that. Your type ..." His knuckles turned white as he held his dresser open. "... don't interest me."

A hard punch landed right into my guts, making my stomach knot.

"The feeling's mutual, Connell." I frowned, throwing my face aside.

He tossed a black sports short and thick black hoodie on the bed.

"Good." He looked at me once more, holding the door open, "there's spare brush in the bathroom."

Yeah.

Can this boy say any more embarrassing shit?

"And Advil on the nightstand, drunkie" He said finally before shutting the door.

We all dislike this guy right?

How did girls put up with him?

As I washed up my face, my mouth and changed, everything began to sink in one by one.

The reason I took the drink.

The blurry face guy who was trying to show me where to pee.

Flashing Ryder my - oh no!

Stop right there.

I covered my face with my palm, shaking my head.

"How drunk were you, Uriiii" I picked my phone, my eyes flying wide open.

Mother would have my head.

Not because she cared about my whereabout but because I was cleaning up today. It was the weekends.

But surprisingly, there was no call from her.

I bet she had thrown my things out of the house like she threatened.

I swallowed the Advil pill and ran downstairs, forgetting about Karina being around.

"I need to go." I said to Ryder, rushing to the door. "Thank you for the hospitality. Fuck you for calling me a drunkie and I beg that you forget whatever I said last night." I said in one breath.

He winced, shaking his head. "It was a lot, Kinky."

Chills slithered down my spine as he dragged the 'a lot'.

"Won't you ask me to remind you?" He smirked.

I blinked severally, bolting out with my heartbeat aching loudly in my ear.

I hoped I'd not even remember it too because I feel like I'd die if I know.

Luckily, I found change in my purse to get me home. As I walked home, I constantly shook my head, squeezing my arms. His cocky smirk was all in my face, zooming in.

Urgh!

"Hey! Hey!"

Chase appeared in front of me, placing his hand on my shoulder. I raised my eyebrow at him, my eyes scanning our environment. I was just few steps from getting home and facing my doom.

I didn't need this right now.

"I looked for you after the - is that a guy's clothe?" He frowned, pointing me up and down.

"Is it?" I laughed nervously, rubbing my arms up and down.

"You left me to go be with another man? Let me guess..."

"Chase!" My voice was hard, firm. My eyes glowered deep into his eyes, holding it. "Don't do that."

"What? I invited you to a party and you fucking left with some boy and I shouldn't do that?" He scoffed.

"At least, I wasn't the one who took me out for an 'eat out' and fucked another person's date while the girl you took out was seated outside." I shot at him.

His mouth clamped shut, guilt evident in his eyes.

"Besides, I was drugged and was almost taken advantage of. Thank you so much for looking out for me." I shoved past him.

"What the fuck? Shit, I'm so sorry, Uriel. Can I make it up to you?" He followed me, constantly touching my arms.

"It's fine. I'm not mad." I said honestly.

"I feel so bad. You have to let me make it up to you. I looked for you all night. I thought something bad happened to you. I was worried sick, Uriel." His tone was low and filled with concern?

"I just want to get home and -"

"Just a movie. One night. That's all I ask for." He raised his hands up in defense.

"I..."

"Please!"

"Okay, fine. Fine. Tomorrow night." I said hurriedly.

"Look sweet!" He yelled, pumping his fist in the air as he walked back to wherever he...

Wait.

Why was he around here?

Okay, that's not important Uriel.

A shaky breath escaped my lips, my palm sweaty from the nervousness within.

Slowly, I pushed the door open, finding just my dad watching TV.

"Come on in. She stepped out as early as 7 AM. She looked happy. I haven't seen her that happy in ages." His smile was void of real emotions.

Softly, I closed the door. Placing a peck on his cheeks, I greeted, "Hey Father."

He patted my back, "she said it's a very serious appointment. She looked so hot, just like the first time I started courting her."

"I'm sure it's just as she said it, Father." I told him, squeezing his shoulder. "I better go clean up before she comes back and have my head."

He didn't chuckle with me, his eyes sad ... For me.

"I'm really sorry, Uriel. I have failed you and..." He swallowed, averting his gaze to the ground. "I'm really sorry."

"Come onnnn. Stop doing this. Just ensure you get better. For me?" I smiled. "Where's Emma?"

"She didn't return home just like you." He said nonchalantly.

"And I'm sorry about that. I'll tell you everything." I scratched the back of my neck, taking steps backward.

My phone rang in my hand but that wasn't what made me freeze.

It was who was calling.

I blinked severally, swiping the green button.

Why was she calling me?

What could I have possibly done?

She never called me. Ever.

"H..hello?"

"Oh I'm as good as unmarried. I'm looking to divorce the vegetable. He's not a real man." My mother's voice was different, flirtatious. Very unreal.

"Who is then?" A throaty masculine voice growled.

"You, of course. My hot huge daddy."

Ew.

"Come over here and demonstrate how you show daddy some appreciation."

My thumb frantically tapped on the red button but my body had gone numb. My legs gave up on me, throwing my body against the door. My eyes burned.

Mother...

Mo..mother was...

Tears welled up. My chest was closing up on me, cutting off all my airflow. My hand went up to my mouth, muffling the treacherous sob that escaped.

"Riel?" My heart broke into million pieces when my Father called me with soft tone.

"Yes, Father?" I yelled from upstairs, my voice a bit on edge.

"Are you good? Do you want to tell me something?" He asked, concern laced in his voice.

"N..." My hand flew to my mouth, my other hand clutching my shirt. My heart was burning.

I couldn't ... I couldn't do it.

But I had to.

He didn't deserve this.

"No, Father. Everything is perfect."

My legs gave up on me as I told the biggest lie of my life to the only man who had got my back.

The only man I swore to never hurt.

I was no different from my mother.
