Karma Or Jacob?
“Even if what she had done had caused the life of her mother, would you still let her be together with our sons?” Luciano’s words rang in Rose’s head and she raised her head to look at her husband.
Seeing that he had gotten her attention, a smirk rose on his lips, and he looked into his wife’s curious eyes as he revealed.
“Seven years ago, Anna Wilson left her parent's home in the last hours, due to one reason or the other, and was kidnapped by some men in her neighborhood. Anna called her mother while they were taking her to the hideout, and she was able to trace the location to find her. Unfortunately, she was raped instead of her daughter, and she died in Anna’s arms in the hospital.”
Rose’s face gradually altered into shock as she heard her husband’s words and she didn't even say a word when he continued.
“Where I have a problem with was that as the crown of everything that happened, just like her father said, she didn’t contact anyone as soon as possible, and before the police came and rushed her mother to the hospital. In fact, she didn't even let her father know immediately.”
“And it was all her fault?” Rose raised a brow at her husband and wished for once that he could calm down and think for once.
“Yes, because she was just 16 at that time, why would a 16-year-old leave her parent's house late at night if not to meet her lover? I'm certain that wasn’t her first time and she must have had-
Rose stared at her hand in shock after hitting it on her husband’s face to bring him out of his delusion.
“You slapped me?” Lucianao was too stunned as he held his right cheek.
“She was just a teenager! A fucking victim! Are you trying to put all the blame on her because you didn't want her to be with our sons?” Rose yelled at her husband after she overcame her shock.
But Luciano was so angry that he immediately ordered her to leave his house. “Didn't you miss your sons? Then leave and do not come back ever!” He screamed at Rose because he couldn’t bring himself to hit her back.
Sniffing back her tears and nodding her head, Rose attempted to laugh but her heart didn’t find it funny at all. She was too heartbroken and angry to find the situation humorous.
“If I leave Luciano, I will never come back.” She threatened coldly, but he only turned his back to her and didn’t look back until he heard the door slam shut.
Mr. Wilson, who had just received 10 thousand pounds from Luciano, was too eager to go to the betting house, which he had been forbidden to ever visit again just to spread Anna’s pasts.
He was on his way when he received a call and a wide smile appeared on his lips, when Maria's name flashed on his cracked screen.
“Maria, my daughter.” He happily greeted as he dusted his wrinkled clothes. “How are you? How's the university?”
Maria swallowed when she heard the familiar slur in her father’s voice, and she didn’t even know where to start.
“Father, didn’t you promise that you will stop drinking? Your health is already failing, if you continue drinking I'm afraid you wouldn’t even be able to see your grandchild.” Her eyes trailed to the room she had laid Marcelo, and she felt her heart swell with compassion and grievance.
Upon listening to her words, Mr. Walton laughed and said. “Don’t worry, I will be alive to see your kids, also, I just received some money. How about I come and see you today, and we can go for that father-daughter date you've always wanted?”
His voice was so tender as he spoke to Maria, and she couldn’t help but wonder why he couldn’t be that way to her older sister too.
Maria could still remember what had happened 7 years ago, and how she had lost her mother but she didn't blame Anna at all. If she should lay blame on anything, it would be fate.
Fate had been so cruel to her family, turning her father against her sister because he thought she was the one responsible for their mother’s death.
“Father…” She called out softly as Mr. Walton walked towards the street of the betting house, which was just the next street. “Will you ever forgive Anna?”
Mr. Walton was dragging his lagging legs to cross to the next street when he heard Maria’s words. He scoffed in contempt and was about to reply that he would never forgive her when he saw a fast car approaching on the other end he had forgotten to look.
The driver, who was a roadman, was running from the authorities and didn’t think for once before he crashed into Mr. Walton’s body, crushing his old bones with his wheel in an attempt to escape before he could get caught.
“Father!!” Maria heard the loud wrecking sound and the boisterous gasps of the onlookers before the call disconnected as the phone broke into two.
“My father, My father, oh my God.” She screamed out in panic and her boyfriend, Adrian quickly rushed to her side.
“What happened? What's wrong with your father?” Adrian asked, his hands on her shoulders in an attempt to calm her.
“I need to go home right now!” She started looking everywhere frantically. “I need to be there, I…”
Maria didn't even want to think that the sound she had just heard was her father getting run down, but she couldn’t convince herself.
Around this time, Travis and his friend already got to Jackson’s house. Staring at the building, Travis’s friend felt like he had seen it somewhere before and he quickly snapped it and sent it to another member of their mob.
“What are you doing in Jackson Mikelson’s house?” He clinched when he saw the reply, and he had to look at the house again. He hadn’t even looked away when his phone beeped again.
“You better leave there as soon as you can. The devil’s son is back, and I just heard that David Cameron is dead. His men are on the lookout for our mistress and Boss is on the run.” Immediately he received the message, he didn't stay a second longer nor did he show it to Travis before he fled Jackson’s mansion.
“Hey! Blud, what-
Travis, who didn't understand what was happening, saw a black Bentley approaching, and he didn’t even wait to find out who it was before he rushed after his friend.
Rose’s driver, who had only seen Travis’s silhouette, frowned slightly as he packed the car in front of Jackson’s mansion. Sighing, he got down from the car and quickly left to help Rose alight.
“Is it true that David Cameroon is dead?” Rose asked her driver what she just saw on the news on their way here.
“Yeah, he is. I believe Underboss had a hand in it.” He replied, referring to Jacob as he wasn’t their Boss anymore, but he was still the heir.
Rose nodded her head calmly as she was not unsure of what to feel. She was quite familiar with him because he mostly appeared with his father, CC at some of the social parties her husband organized, but aside from that, she didn't know anything else about it.
Raising her she turned to look at Jackson’s house, Rose felt a sharp pain in her heart as she recalled the first, which was also the last time she had stepped her feet in it.
It was the first day Jackson bought the mansion, and ever since then, she hadn’t been able to visit again.
“When will you come back?” The driver, who was just assigned to Rose, asked as he saw her troubled expression
She shook her head in response. “Perhaps, when my children get who they want.” Rose stated as a matter of fact as she was about to ring the house.
“Why is mother here?” Jackson asked as he stepped on the brake to stop the car just a few steps away from the main long black gate.
“Are you okay, Anna?” Jacob asked Anna because of the sudden halt, but she just stared blankly at him with no reaction.
He gritted his teeth when he saw that Anna was still not speaking, then opened the door before holding her shaky hands and helped her down from Jackson’s Maserati A6GCS/53, the same car he had left with earlier in the day.
“Mother?” Jackson was the first to speak out after he got over the surprise that it was actually his mother that was at his gate.
“Did you divorce your husband?” Jacob asked his mother as he fastened his grip on Anna’s still trembling hand.
They had just received a call from Adrian a few minutes ago, and he had disclosed to them that Mr. Walton, Anna and Maria’s father, had been pronounced dead in a hit-and-run fatal accident. His brain, legs, and some other part of his body had been pulverized.
Anna hadn’t been able to get over the shock before they left the living room, but Jacob had insisted that they had to go and see him, to make sure that he was actually dead.
He felt like Mr. Walton had died too peacefully, and he should have waited for him to show him pain before death.
Rose, who hadn’t even noticed the woman between them until they stood before her, didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at this iconic remark as her eyes fell on Anna. “Where are you taking her while she shakes like a lamb?” She blurted out the first comparison that came to her mind
