Chapter 170 Chapter 170

Chapter 170 Chapter 170
Amelia's POV

I was packing my belongings and a few sets of clothes that I planned to move into another room, the one located right next to Mas Saga's study.

Since yesterday afternoon's incident, I had become afraid of sleeping in the same room as him.

In the end, I decided to move to another room.
Besides, the bedroom I had been using was damaged because of what happened yesterday. I thought it would be better to stay somewhere else for the time being.

After that incident, Kai left and hadn't returned until today.

"Let me carry those, Miss," Auntie said as she took some of the clothes from my arms.

"Thank you, Auntie," I replied sincerely.

I always tried to be grateful for whatever happened in my life. I kept convincing myself that every event carried a lesson to be learned, no matter how painful it felt.

After finishing my room, I decided to go downstairs and get some fresh air on the front porch. The air inside the house felt suffocating, making the tightness in my chest even worse.

I opened the front door wide to let fresh air flow inside before sitting down on one of the porch chairs.

"Ah... this feels nice," I murmured softly.

I inhaled as deeply as I could and slowly exhaled. I repeated the motion several times, trying to ease the heaviness that had settled in my chest.

Over the past few days, I had been experiencing the same suffocating feeling more and more often, the same feeling I had endured four years ago.
My gaze drifted toward the small garden in front of the house.

Maybe I should rearrange some of the flowers there.

Honk! Honk!
The sound of a car horn pulled me from my thoughts.

I saw someone stepping out of a car and talking to the security guard. Judging by their gestures, they seemed to be arguing.

Then our eyes met. I saw him smile at me.
"Key!" he called.

Warmth instantly spread through my chest.

"Ezra," I whispered.
There was only one person who still called me by that name, Keysa.

I immediately stood up and jogged toward the gate.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Ezra. Mr. Kai instructed us not to open the gate for anyone except him," Security explained awkwardly.

"I said open it!" Ezra's shout immediately made the atmosphere tense. His expression was cold. His gaze was sharp.

I had rarely seen Ezra like this.
"Didn't you hear me? Do you want me to crash through the gate?" he threatened.

Security could only lower his head and repeatedly apologize, explaining that he couldn't disobey Mr. Kai's orders.

Honestly, I understood.
He was only doing his job.
"Ezra, don't do that," I scolded when I saw him kick the gate.

"Kai is insane," he cursed irritably.

Instead of being upset, I laughed.
Ezra frowned.

"Why are you laughing?" he asked in confusion.

"Because both of you are equally crazy."

"The three of us," he corrected immediately before bursting into laughter.

I smiled.
Then suddenly an idea crossed my mind.

"Just climb over." Ezra blinked

"Climb?"

"The gate."

For a few seconds, he simply stared at me.

Then the corner of his lips lifted.

"Okay. For you, what wouldn't I do, Key?"
Without hesitation, Ezra began climbing the gate that Secuu had stubbornly kept locked.

"Mr. Ezra! Please come down! Mr. Kai will be angry!"

Security immediately panicked. "Oh dear... Miss Amelia, please don't help him," he complained again when he saw me dragging a chair over to help Ezra climb down.

"Can you stop talking, Security? You're so noisy."
Ezra actually snapped at him, making the poor security guard look even more stressed.

"Don't jump. Come down slowly."
I held Ezra's hand as he carefully climbed down.

"Oh, Miss Amelia... what if Sir gets angry?" Security complained again, looking utterly frustrated.

"It's fine,. You didn't open the gate, did you? I'm not going anywhere. When Ezra leaves, he can climb back over again. Okay?"

I tried to reassure him.
Ezra could only surrender helplessly.
"You're clever, Key."
Ezra ruffled my hair affectionately.

I immediately glared at him.

"That's rude."
My protest only made him laugh harder.
I invited him to sit on the porch.
We talked about many things.

Ezra asked about my life over the past four years, where I had gone, how I had lived, and what I had been doing during the time I disappeared.

In return, he told me about himself.
About his work. About his family.
About how much his life had changed while I was gone.

"So now you've become a designer, just like you always wanted," he said, looking at me warmly.

"Mhm."
I nodded.

"And you've become the CEO of your father's company."

"Tch. Not CEO."
Rendra clicked his tongue in disagreement.

I raised an eyebrow.

"But a handsome CEO," he corrected proudly while puffing out his chest.

I immediately rolled my eyes.
"Narcissist. Your narcissism hasn't disappeared at all since back then. In fact, I think it's gotten worse."

"Hahaha!"
His laughter echoed loudly.

Back when I first met him, I honestly couldn't stand him. He was mischievous. Arrogant. Annoying.

We argued every single time we met.
And almost always, Rendra was the one who started it.

He used to show up at my father's house for all kinds of ridiculous reasons.

Sometimes his motorcycle tire was flat and he needed help getting it repaired.

Sometimes he claimed he'd run out of gas.
Sometimes he said he was returning from a friend's house and just happened to stop by.

There was always an excuse.
But there was one incident I would never forget.
One day, Rendra crashed his motorcycle right in front of my father's house.

I smiled to myself at the memory.

"What?"

Rendra's voice pulled me back to the present.
"Why are you shaking your head and smiling like that? Is your craziness acting up again?"

SMACK!

I immediately hit his arm.

"Oww! That hurts, Keysa!"
He grimaced while rubbing his arm.

"Watch your mouth!"

I shot him an annoyed glare.

"Anyway..."

I smiled again.

"I just remembered the time you fell off your motorcycle in front of my father's house. What actually happened that day?"

Rendra immediately pointed at me.
"That was because of you."

I stared at him in surprise.
"How was it my fault?"
"Because I saw you sitting by your bedroom window."

I frowned.
"And?"

"I thought an angel had gotten stuck there."

I tried to hold back my laughter.
"But then it turned out to be you."

I immediately burst out laughing.

"So I got startled and crashed."
Now I was laughing openly.

"Aww, poor thing. The crocodile never got to meet the angel."
Ezra laughed as well.

"Do you know that crocodiles are actually one of the most loyal animals?"

"Those are water crocodiles. Once they're on land, it's a different story."

I immediately argued.

Eza shook his head with a smile.
"I've never been able to win an argument against you, Key."

We laughed together.

For the first time in a very long while, I felt a little lighter.
Ezra's presence turned what I thought would be a dull day into an enjoyable one.

At least for today, I could forget some of the heaviness that had been haunting me.

"Today isn't so bad after all," I murmured softly.

Then I rose from my chair and walked toward the garden.

My original goal hadn't changed.

I still wanted to move a few of the rose pots that, in my opinion, weren't placed quite right.
