Chapter 167 Chapter 167
Flashback Off

Kai smiled faintly to himself as the memories replayed in his mind.

He still remembered clearly all the things he had done just to marry Amelia. At that time, he had not fully realized that the feelings growing inside his heart were love.

"I never forgot how you made me do all those crazy things, Amelia," Kai murmured softly.

His gaze fell on Amelia's sleeping face.
"Just to give you your dream wedding, I even went to your school several times under the excuse of planning a surprise for Kiara."

Kai let out a long sigh.

Exhaustion and regret filled his chest.
"But why couldn't you see my love, sweetheart?" he whispered.

He lowered his head for a moment before looking at Amelia's peaceful sleeping face again.

"What do I have to do for you to come back to me the way you were during the first four months of our marriage?"

Gently, Kai kissed Amelia's forehead before climbing onto the bed.

He lay down beside her and slowly wrapped his arms around her.

For the past four years, he had buried that longing deep inside his heart.

Now that Amelia was finally so close to him, he could no longer hold it back.

He kissed her forehead lovingly and closed his eyes for a moment, breathing in the scent he had missed so much.

"Forgive me, sweetheart," he whispered.
Without realizing it, his embrace tightened.

As a result, Amelia's sleep was disturbed.
Slowly, she opened her eyes.

"Let go... I can't breathe," Amelia murmured, squirming slightly in Kai's arms.

"Just a moment, Amelia. Let me stay like this for a little while longer," Kai pleaded without loosening his hold.

His voice was barely above a whisper.
"I've missed you so much."

The words fell right beside Amelia's ear, causing her to freeze.
Her body, which had been trying to pull away, gradually stopped resisting.

Truthfully, Amelia had missed that warm embrace too.

The same embrace that had once been her safest place during the first four months of their marriage.
She closed her eyes.

Reliving a warmth that for four years had existed only in her memories.

Kai's scent, which she had secretly missed all this time, once again filled her senses.

Without realizing it, Amelia slowly lifted her arms and returned his embrace.

Her arms wrapped around his back, holding him tightly.

Feeling her hug him back, Kai tightened his embrace even more.
Warmth filled his chest.

"Forgive me, Melia," he whispered. "You can ask anything of me, as long as you're willing to come back to me."

Amelia remained silent for a moment.
Then she slowly pushed against Kai's chest.

"I thought you'd forgotten that nickname."
Kai smiled faintly.

"I never forgot."
He looked at her intently.

The intensity of his gaze made it difficult for Amelia to look away.

Their faces were now extremely close.
So close that she could feel his breath against her skin.

"Kai, let go." Amelia's face began to heat up.

Her heart was beating wildly.

"Let go. It's too hot. I can't breathe."
She tried to free herself again.

Not because she felt uncomfortable.
Quite the opposite.

She felt too comfortable. And that scared her.
She was afraid Kai would hear the uncontrollable pounding of her heart.

"I love you, my Melia."
Kai's voice was soft but unmistakably clear. Amelia immediately froze.

Her eyes met his. Something trembled inside her heart. The feeling she had once waited for countless times.

The words she had always wanted to hear from Kai himself.

ack then, Amelia had always believed that the nickname My Melia meant she was special to him.
That she belonged to him.

That Kai loved her. But the reality she had believed for the past four years was different.
In her mind, Kai loved someone else.
Tania. Only Tania.

The name resurfaced like an old wound suddenly torn open.
Instantly, Amelia's expression changed.
"Liar." She shoved Kai away.
Then she struggled and hit his back several times.

"I'm not lying, Melia." Kai caught both of her wrists before she could hurt herself. "You're the only woman I've ever loved." His voice was firm and filled with certainty.

As though he wanted to erase every doubt Amelia had carried in her heart.

But Amelia simply rolled her eyes in annoyance.
"Let go. I'm hungry. I want to eat." She deliberately changed the subject.

She didn't want to discuss the emotions that were throwing her heart into chaos once again.

"I'll let go. But you have to listen to me first." Kai looked at her seriously. "I love you. Only you."
His gaze was sincere.

"I promise I'll prove everything to you. I've never cheated on you with anyone." Kai took a deep breath before continuing.

"Please, this time don't believe anyone before you hear the truth from me." His voice grew deeper.

"Ask me anything you want to know. Don't just leave without listening." His eyes locked onto Amelia's. "Understand?"

"No." Amelia's answer came casually.
Kai sighed.

Then he stared at her for so long that she began feeling uncomfortable.

"Then I'll use another method." Amelia frowned.

Before she could ask what he meant, Kai suddenly leaned closer.

Amelia's eyes widened instantly.
A few seconds later, she quickly pushed against his shoulder.

"Kai! What are you doing?"
Her face flushed red, caught somewhere between annoyance and nervousness.

But Kai looked completely relaxed.
"So you'll understand." He leaned back against the headboard, looking victorious.
"Still don't understand?" His tone sounded like a subtle threat.

Amelia shot him an irritated glare. "Fine. I understand."

A wide smile immediately appeared on Kai's face.
For the first time in a very long while, he felt slightly relieved.

At least today... Amelia was still willing to listen to him.
