Chapter 166 Chapter 166
Chapter 166 Chapter 166
(Still Flashback)
Kai had visited Amelia at her school several times already.
Just like today.
The final school bell had just rung, and students were pouring out through the gates when Kai's car was already parked not far away.
The moment Amelia spotted him, she let out a long sigh.
Lately, it felt like her life had never truly been peaceful.
As soon as she got into the car, she immediately turned toward Saga with an annoyed expression.
"What is it this time, Brother?" she asked.
Kai shifted slightly, turning to face her.
"I need to talk to you."
"About Sister Kiara again? Why don't you just talk to her directly?" Amelia replied irritably.
She truly did not want to get involved in the affairs between her sister and her future husband.
For three consecutive days, Kai had been waiting for her after school.
As a result, Amelia kept arriving home late and getting scolded by Uncle Jordan.
And every time someone asked why she was late, she ran out of excuses.
There was no way she could tell them that her sister's fiancé kept intercepting her after school.
"Okay, this is the last time," Kai said casually.
"Really?" Amelia narrowed her eyes suspiciously.
"Yes."
Her gaze became even more skeptical.
"I just want to know your ring size."
Kai pulled a small box out of his pocket.
"What do you mean?" Amelia frowned in confusion. "Why do you need my ring size?"
Suspicion immediately filled her face.
Kai cleared his throat.
"I mean Kiara's ring size."
Amelia looked even more confused.
"Then why are you here? Go to my dad's house, meet Sister Kiara, and look at her finger. Why come all the way here?"
Her complaining continued endlessly.
Kai eventually closed his eyes for a moment.
"You're so talkative. Can you be quiet for once?"
His head was genuinely starting to hurt from listening to her nonstop chatter.
"No, I can't. You're the weird one, Brother Kai. If you want to know Sister Kiara's ring size, then go----"
"Shhh!"
Kai raised a finger to his lips. "I want it to be a surprise. Okay?"
"Oh... I see." Amelia immediately nodded in understanding.
Kai opened the small box.
Inside were three rings of different sizes.
One by one, he slipped them onto Amelia's ring finger to find the best fit.
Amelia simply watched without asking further questions.
Once he found the correct size, Kai immediately removed the ring.
"Okay. Thank you for your cooperation."
"You're welcome," Amelia replied lightly.
"Next time, don't make things difficult for me again."
Kai simply shook his head and smiled faintly.
After finishing his business, he drove Amelia home.
As usual, he stopped the car some distance away from Uncle Jordan's house.
The moment the car stopped, Amelia quickly opened the door and jumped out.
"Thank you!" she shouted briefly.
Then she ran off before eventually slowing down and casually walking toward the house.
Kai remained seated behind the steering wheel, watching Amelia's retreating figure.
A faint smile formed on his lips.
For some reason, Amelia's behavior made him feel as if they were a couple secretly dating behind everyone's backs.
And that thought was oddly amusing.
One week before the wedding, Kai and his father visited Harri's house.
That day, every lie that had been hidden finally came to light.
The atmosphere in the living room was tense.
There were no smiles.
No polite conversation.
Only disappointment and restrained anger.
Osvar stared at Harri with a gaze that was difficult to describe.
There was anger.
Disappointment.
And the feeling of being betrayed by an old friend.
"Now you make the decision yourself."
Osvar's voice was heavy. "Either return every cent I've invested, or marry Amelia to Kai."
Harri immediately fell silent.
His face grew even paler.
"You should have been honest from the beginning," Osvar continued.
"But instead, you planned to deceive us. We've been friends for years."
The disappointment in his voice was unmistakable.
Harri lowered his head.
"I'm sorry. I just didn't want all my efforts to go to waste. And I was ashamed of what Kiara did."
"Because we're friends, Kai waited for you to come forward and tell the truth."
Osvar took a deep breath.
"But you still chose not to be honest. That's why this is the last opportunity I'm giving you."
His gaze sharpened.
"Marry Amelia to Kai, or all our business cooperation ends. And return all my money."
Harri looked cornered.
"Amelia is still in school. Can't Kai just marry Kiara?" he asked, trying to find another way out.
But the answer he received only made the room feel colder.
"Who would want a daughter-in-law who got pregnant out of wedlock?" Osvar sneered while looking away.
"Our family does not accept an illegitimate child."
The words made Harri lose even more face.
"Kiara will terminate the pregnancy," Harri said quietly.
Osvar's eyes widened instantly. "Have you lost your mind?" His voice thundered throughout the room.
"But whether you terminate that child or not is your business. What I do know is that I will never allow Kai to marry Kiara."
The anger he had been suppressing finally surfaced.
"You only have two choices. Marry Amelia to Kai, or return my money."
There was no room for negotiation. No compromise.
Harri swallowed hard.
"Fine. Give me some time to discuss this first."
Osvar turned toward his son. "What do you think, Kai?"
Kai, who had remained silent the entire time, finally spoke. "One day." His voice was calm but firm.
"You have only one day," Osvar declared.
"The day after tomorrow, I want your answer."
"Alright." Harri nodded helplessly.
Two days later, Harri kept his word.
He informed them that Amelia had agreed to marry Kai.
The wedding proceeded according to the original plan. The same date. The same venue.
All the preparations remained unchanged.
Except...
The bride was different. The wedding day finally arrived. As Kai finished reciting his vows, the room filled with prayers and words of blessing.
But Kai's attention was no longer on anyone else.
His eyes searched for only one person.
Amelia. And when she appeared at the end of the aisle, escorted by Harri, Kai completely forgot how to look away.
Amelia wore a white wedding gown.
She looked elegant. Her simple yet refined makeup highlighted her soft and delicate features.
She walked slowly down the aisle, guided by her mother and Rania.
Beautiful.
Incredibly beautiful.
Far more beautiful than Kai had ever imagined.
For several moments, he could only stare without blinking.
A strange feeling slowly spread through his chest.
Warm. Trembling. Making it difficult for him to breathe normally.
At first, he had only wanted revenge.
Kiara had dared to betray him behind his back.
And Kai wanted to hurt her in the most painful way possible.....
by marrying her younger sister.
Besides, Kiara had always spoken badly about Amelia in front of him.
Kai knew very well that Kiara disliked her own sister.
That was why he had believed marrying Amelia would be the harshest slap he could give Kiara.
But now...
It seemed he needed to take back all those thoughts.
Because the girl who had not even graduated from high school had unknowingly stolen his heart.
And he only realized it when it was already too late.
The proof was simple.
Without anyone knowing, Kai had secretly changed the entire concept of their wedding.
Originally, every decoration, every color, and every detail of the event had been designed according to Kiara's preferences.
But three days before the wedding, Kai changed everything.
He transformed it into Amelia's dream wedding.
Kai had deliberately waited for Amelia after school just to ask her favorite color.
He had also asked what kind of wedding she had always dreamed of having.
And without Amelia ever realizing it, every answer that left her lips quietly became part of their wedding day.
