Chapter 327 Going to City Hall

Chapter 327 Going to City Hall

Sarah hadn't even spoken when Serena immediately protested. "Sarah's not like that."

Just that one sentence earned her a fierce glare from Adrian.

Serena shut her mouth, not daring to speak further.

Since childhood, whenever Sarah and Adrian faced off, it was always needle against needle. Neither would yield.

She was stuck in the middle like the filling in a sandwich.

Sarah wasn't provoked by Adrian. Her face even held a victor's smile. "What are you talking about, Mr. Locke?

If I wanted to use Serena to climb up, the first tree I'd climb would be you, Mr. Locke. What does the Mole family amount to? But unfortunately, Serena doesn't want to climb your tree."

That last sentence dropped the surrounding air pressure like a stone.

Layers of cold fury radiated from Adrian's eyes.

Serena didn't dare look at him, silently lowering her head.

Sarah remained perfectly calm, her cool gaze meeting Adrian's, a faint smile playing at her lips. "Since Mr. Locke cares so much about Serena, why don't you use your connections to introduce her to a reliable match?"

Serena's eyes went wide, staring at Sarah. How could she still be thinking about blind dates at a time like this?

Adrian shot Sarah a cold look, unwilling to engage with her.

Just then, Harvey pulled the car up and got out to open the door.

Adrian's face was stone-cold as he pulled Serena toward the car.

Sarah walked to the car, lifted her high-heeled foot back, and pushed—directly slamming shut the door Harvey had opened.

She looked straight at Adrian. "Mr. Locke knows that with the Rothwell family's current status, this is the caliber of matches we can arrange.

Didn't you say before you'd introduce Serena to outstanding young men? How about right now?"

She was forcing Adrian to commit on the spot.

Adrian laughed bitterly at her aggressive stance. "Fine."

Sarah nodded, looking past him at Serena.

Serena felt like something had pierced her chest. Instinctively, she tried to pull her hand from Adrian's grip.

But Adrian only held tighter.

He looked coldly at Sarah, his tone grinding. "Me! Will Ms. Rothwell accept that?"

Serena stared at Adrian in shock.

Adrian looked at Sarah.

Only Sarah showed no surprise, smiling faintly. "Mr. Locke, that's quite a statement—categorizing yourself as an 'outstanding young man'?

Medical definitions now classify men aged thirty to fifty-nine as middle-aged. In four more years, Mr. Locke will enter that bracket. How can you call yourself a young man?"

Once again, Adrian was successfully provoked.

Sarah ignored the anger in his eyes and added, "Most of the men Serena's been meeting are around her age. Mr. Locke is four years older than her, right?

They say there's a generation gap every three years. With your one-and-a-half generation gaps, it's really hard for me to consider you."

As she spoke, she met his gaze, a smile playing at her lips—clearly deliberately making things difficult.

Adrian's breathing grew labored, cold fury radiating outward in waves.

Serena could barely stand being there anymore. You two have been fighting since childhood—isn't it enough?

Yet facing Adrian's imposing presence, Sarah showed no weakness, never backing down.

Serena felt like her wrist might break in Adrian's grip.

She pressed her other hand over his, her tone pitiful. "Lighter—it hurts."

Adrian looked down at her, loosening his grip slightly.

When he looked back at Sarah, his eyes had returned to cold indifference. "The Blue Ocean Project—I'll give you thirty percent of the shares."

Sarah smiled lightly. "Mr. Locke is generous."

"Tomorrow morning, I want to see her ID."

"Mr. Locke needn't be so formal."

As she spoke, she extended her hand toward Blake without looking back.

Blake pulled an ID card from his shirt pocket and placed it in Sarah's hand.

Sarah held it out to Adrian. "Here you go now."

Adrian snorted coldly. "Ms. Rothwell came prepared."

"Don't want it?"

Sarah made as if to take it back.

Adrian snatched it from her hand.

Serena watched from the side, absolutely dumbfounded, unable to keep up with these two.

So Sarah had her assistant carry her ID at all times?

What kind of operation was this?

Sarah's cool eyes warmed with amusement. "Mr. Locke, this time, you lost to me again. Oh wait, maybe not—Mr. Locke has been single for thirty-one years, and today you're finally off the market. You didn't really lose. Let's call it a draw."

Adrian fell silent.

Since childhood, when it came to matters involving Serena, he'd never won once.

Sarah smiled brightly. "Mr. Locke, congratulations."

Those words were meant for Serena too.

"Ms. Rothwell is too kind!"

Serena's eyes suddenly reddened, an urge to cry welling up.

Only now did she understand—all those so-called blind dates had been Sarah paving the way for her happiness.

Sarah had been planning for her all along.

What she didn't dare want, Sarah claimed for her.

What she didn't dare fight for, Sarah fought for her.

Since childhood, from then until now, it had always been this way.

Sarah walked toward her car in her high heels, head held high.

Adrian pulled Serena toward his car.

Just before getting in, Sarah turned back to Adrian. "Tomorrow I'll have someone pack her things and send them over."

"You really can't wait."

"I'm not in a hurry. After all, the legs are Serena's. If Mr. Locke doesn't act quickly..."

Adrian didn't wait for her to finish. He got in the car directly.

Sarah laughed quietly and got in her car as well.

Sitting in the car, Serena looked at the ID in Adrian's hand, her mind still in a daze.

She looked at Adrian uncertainly. "You... really want to marry me?"

Adrian looked back at her. "You don't want to?"

"It's not that..."

"Then that's settled."

Adrian cut off whatever else she might say and told Harvey, "To City Hall."
