Chapter343
Wayne arrived that morning to see a mini version of his boss knocking.
He hurried upstairs.
“Hey kiddo, don’t disturb Mr. Sutton and Mrs. Sutton. They’re probably… busy right now!”
He still thought Ethan was Gareth’s son–looks could deceive, but DNA never lied.
He’d personally overseen the paternity test proving the boy wasn’t Mr. Sutton’s.
Ethan glared up at Wayne.
“What could Stinky Uncle and Mommy possibly be busy with?”
Wayne choked, struggling to explain adult matters to a child.
After a pause, he stated with his usual stiff expression:
“They’re busy making… a baby brother or sister for you.”
Ethan didn’t find it strange; is Mommy having a baby broken down into steps?
He really knew little about this.
While he was thinking, Maureen had dressed and came out blushing.
“Wayne, what brings you here?”
Wayne lied, “I have some personal matters to ask Mr. Sutton.”
Maureen nodded, embarrassed, and took Ethan downstairs.
Geoffrey and Wayne didn’t talk long before Geoffrey left for something urgent.
Maureen didn’t ask what he was doing.
Wayne and Maureen went outside, and Wayne reported on the snatched projects‘ progress over the past months.
Geoffrey said after listening, “Thanks for your hard work lately. Tomorrow is Christmas Holidays, so rest well these days.”

Wayne was shocked hearing this.

Not for anything else, but because it was the first time his boss thanked him for his hard work.
Is the world turning upside down?
“Not hard work, it’s what I should do.”
Wayne was flattered and lost his usual calm.
Geoffrey couldn’t see his expression change, but living with Maureen daily for so long, he treated people around him more gently, like her.
“Is there anything else?”
He asked.
Wayne remembered, “Mr. Robson and Larry invited you to Chaster Club tonight.”
Because Geoffrey was still pretending to have amnesia, Sean and the others could only reach him through Wayne.
Tonight?
Geoffrey didn’t hesitate: “No. Tell them I have plans.”
He needed to prepare for New Year’s Eve with Maureen tomorrow.
Wayne already knew he’d refuse. Nowadays, Geoffrey spent nearly all his free time with Maureen–forget visiting clubs, he barely took solo walks anymore.
“Alright.”
That night, at the Elite Club’s penthouse.
Sean and Larry drank with a group of wealthy heirs in the VIP lounge, just like Geoffrey used to join them.
Hearing Geoffrey wouldn’t come this year, Sean clicked his tongue: “Geoffrey’s really choosing romance over friendship now. You’re better, Larry. Even after years of marriage, you’ve never stood us up.”
Larry lifted his glass, smiling without warmth as he countered:

“Sean, aren’t you engaged?
Why aren’t you with your fiancee?”
Mentioning Katherine, Sean’s expression shifted instantly.

He pictured her round, adorable face–almond–shaped eyes glistening, smiling like crescent moons. Pity she has such a fiery temper.
Last time they went wedding dress shopping, they bumped into Katherine’s ex–boyfriend Tyler accompanying his wife on a stroll.
She stubbornly clung to his arm, pinching him the whole way in annoyance.
“You only know how to tease me. I’m being forced into marriage, not like you and your wife who fell in love freely.”
Love marriage?
A cold smirk tugged at Larry’s lips.
Others nearby, hearing Sean speak like this, chimed in: “Sean, don’t worry. When you finally call the shots, you can have as many women as you want.‘
“Exactly…”
Sean lifted his brows, radiating smugness–until his expression froze.
Near the entrance, Katherine stood in poppy–red gown, holding Jacob’s hand while staring directly at him.
A clueless guy beside him added: “If you’re serious, I’ll send fresh beauties to your place tonight. That White woman can’t touch you even if she finds out.”
“Right! What can some small–family woman do to you anyway?”
Ahem…
Sean coughed into his fist, raising a wineglass to hide the panic in his eyes.
He wasn’t scared of Katherine–but of his grandfather and Maureen.
After all, Katherine was both his grandfather’s chosen daughter–in–law and the best friend of Maureen, who saved his life.
Katherine heard the people inside mocking her, her brows knitting slightly: “Sean, Grandpa wants

you home for dinner.”
She spoke abruptly, and the surroundings instantly fell silent.
One by one, they stared at her in bewilderment before digesting her words.
Home for dinner?
The playboys present snapped back to reality, each suppressing laughter.
The young master of the Robson family being summoned home for dinner by a woman?
Sean’s expression darkened further, wanting to pretend he didn’t know her.
Katherine couldn’t be bothered to repeat herself and turned to Jacob beside her.

Jacob spoke reluctantly: “Grandpa said if you’re late again tomorrow on New Year’s Eve, don’t bother coming back ever.”
After speaking, he looked at Katherine: “Mommy, message delivered. Let’s go home.”
Katherine nodded.
But before leaving, she glared at Sean’s worthless friends present and declared loudly:
