“If you ever leave home without permission again, I won’t speak to you.”
Maureen stated.
Only then did Ethan realize how truly angry she was. He nodded repeatedly: “Never again. I promise.”
Alone in the hospital, it was either chemotherapy or medication.
He couldn’t bear being by himself any longer.
“Mommy, should I go back to the hospital today?”
Ethan whispered.
Hearing the word “hospital,” Maureen couldn’t help but feel heartbroken: “Ethan, be good and wait a little longer. We’ll have the surgery soon.”
“Okay.”
Ethan nodded and hugged Maureen.
Thankfully, Mommy still cares about me and hasn’t abandoned me.
In the afternoon, Maureen took Ethan back to the hospital.
After the doctor finished examining him, Maureen, recalling Ethan’s wish to see Uncle Alex, couldn’t help but ask: “Ethan, do you like Uncle Alex?”
Ethan choked up.
How could he like that scumbag dad?
But since Mommy asked, she definitely didn’t want a negative answer.
“Yeah, I like him.”
Hearing her son say he liked Geoffrey, Maureen patted his head, her resolve growing stronger.
She got in the car and headed home.

On the way home, the car radio reported that Geoffrey had indeed gone blind, and reporters had captured a photo of him and Alex together.
Maureen frowned slightly. Bad news really travels fast.
The news caused a stir across society.
Noelle also saw the news. She’d just promised Elizabeth a meeting with Geoffrey days ago, never expecting he’d go blind.
Elizabeth had just come off stage. The new song she bought, combined with her dancing, had instantly made her famous.
When she got home, she saw the news too.
“Isn’t Geoffrey fine?”
“Probably Alex is the one who’s fine.‘
Adrian, lounging on the sofa playing with his phone, blurted out the truth.
Ever since Alex had bossed him around and Geoffrey had chewed him out last time, he’d been suspicious. Now seeing the news,
he finally understood–Geoffrey had been living with Maureen all along, while Alex was the one at the company.
“Son, what do you mean?”
Noelle set down her water glass.
Adrian had no choice but to explain the whole mess–how he’d asked Geoffrey for help and the mix–up that followed.
Noelle’s eyes widened in shock. “So we’ve all been fooled.”
She turned to Elizabeth. “Elizabeth, should we still meet Geoffrey?”
“No need. Dad already set up an arranged date for me with Alex.”
The moment Elizabeth got the inside scoop, she’d written Geoffrey off
She couldn’t possibly spend her life with a blind man. Besides, Geoffrey was still married.

Alex looked exactly like him–might as well go for Alex instead.

Noelle couldn’t help feeling relieved. Her daughter truly knew what mattered most, unlike Maureen
Adrian snorted coldly from the side.
After Elizabeth left, he immediately told Noelle: “Mom, if she marries Alex, I’ll still be the Sutton Family’s brother–in–law. I want to start a company, what do you think…”
Before he could finish. Noelle cut him off.
“Just be a good second son of the Thompson family. Stop thinking about spending money all day.”
Hearing this, Adrian flared up instantly: “Believe it or not, I’ll tell Maureen the truth! Then none of us will have it easy!”
“You dare!”
Noelle got angry too, slamming her cup down hard.
Adrian lost his nerve, got up and walked out.
Outside, he had nowhere to go but drown his sorrows at Luxury Nightclub.
“I want your prettiest girl here.”
His arrival drew plenty of attention.
It also caught the eye of a regular, Sean.
Sean immediately had someone watch Adrian, then picked up his phone to make a call.
“Geoffrey.”
He’d only reconnected with Geoffrey days earlier.
Never expected Geoffrey really had amnesia–initially he’d ignored Sean completely.
They’d just reestablished contact recently, Geoffrey saying fragments were returning.
“What is it?”
Geoffrey was working when he got a call from Sean and asked.

“I saw Adrian at the Luxury Nightclub. He’s loaded, booked the whole place right when he showed up.
Sean still remembered that loser.
It was Adrian who ruined the Ramirez Family, once the richest in Karaville. How’s he got cash to party now?
Geoffrey tapped the keyboard, face unchanged: “Ignore him.”
Last time he warned Adrian not to mess with Maureen. Other stuff wasn’t his business.
“Oh, okay.”
Sean sounded down: “Hey Geoffrey, saw the news. Did you really hand everything to Alex?”
“For now.”
Sean finally breathed easy.
He thought blindness meant Geoffrey would get pushed around.
“How’s Maureen doing now?”
At Maureen’s mention, Geoffrey’s lips twitched up, but he said: “Not your concern.”
Geoffrey hung up straight away.
Sean stared at the dead phone, mood sinking.
“Girls over friends, typical.”
Before he finished, Grandpa called again: “Told you to get Katherine for dinner yesterday. What happened?
Didn’t come home all night. Want me to skin you alive?”
