Chapter243
The window rolled down, revealing Lisa’s icy face.
“You weren’t willing, but you completed Mr. Sutton’s task. I’ll report truthfully.”
With that, Lisa signaled the driver to leave.
But Andrea stopped her: “I’ve never seen you before. Why are you by Alex’s side?
Where’s Wayne?”
Lisa remained calm, her lips curling into a cold smile.
“That just proves you’re not close to Mr. Sutton. Otherwise you’d know who I am.”
Stung by the retort, Andrea fell speechless.
The black Bentley sped away.
Inside the car, Lisa watched Andrea’s resentful reflection in the rearview mirror, deep in thought.
Why would Alex stand up for Maureen?
!
He never troubles himself for strangers.
Back inside, after Andrea’s departure, Maureen prepared to confront Noelle and Adrian.
Katherine immediately stood: “I’ll go with you.”
Jacob added: “Mommy, me too.”
“No need. I’ll handle this alone.”
Katherine said.
“Don’t worry, I’ll have Justin come with me just in case.”

Maureen remembered Gareth saying that without weapons, Justin could take on ten men single-handedly
Hearing Justin would accompany her, Katherine felt relieved: “Alright then.
Be careful.”
After speaking, she pulled Jacob aside: “Roy, you’ve got school tomorrow. Better stay home today-it’s freezing outside.”
“Okay then.”
Jacob agreed outwardly, though he’d already made up his mind to sneak out later.
Even with Uncle Justin around, he still worried about Mommy going alone.
After Maureen left. Justin drove her to the Governor’s Mansion where Noelle and Adrian now lived.
Standing outside the luxurious mansion, Maureen felt surprised. Judging by where Noelle and Adrian resided, they didn’t seem short on money.
Soon, a maid opened the door at the Governor’s Mansion, her eyes flickering with disdain at Maureen’s plain clothes.
“You’re Ms. Ramirez?”
“Yes./ I’m here to see Noelle and Adrian.”
The maid ushered them inside. On the way to the parlor, she informed Maureen:
“Madam’s out for tea. The second young master is home.”
Madam…
Second young master…
Seemed Noelle and Adrian had been living well all these years.
Adrian was already waiting in the parlor, dressed in an expensive tailored suit. His wrist bore a Patek Philippe worth millions, while a single cufflink cost tens of thousands.
When Maureen entered, he was admiring a world-famous painting.
Clearly clueless about its artistic value, he bluntly asked the deliveryman: “How much is this

painting?”
“Our boss bid a hundred million.”
The man watched him ingratiatingly.
“A hundred million? Fine. I’ll take it./ Tell your boss I’ll handle his backlogged goods ”
“Of course, of course.”
The deliveryman bowed out cautiously.
Adrian tossed the painting to the maid with lofty indifference: “Store it in my treasure vault.”
Throughout, he didn’t even glance at Maureen.
Maureen didn’t care. Seeing everything Adrian possessed now, she understood the importance of the will in her hands.
Justin stood guard outside the living room.
Adrian had been informed by the servants when they arrived. He finally looked at his biological sister, approaching with undisguised scorn:
“You’re not divorcing Geoffrey over that man outside, are you?”
The whole world knew about Maureen and Geoffrey’s messy divorce lawsuit, Adrian included.
Like Noelle, he considered Maureen hopelessly foolish.
Who would willingly let go of the Sutton family’s golden goose?
Maureen didn’t answer, her gaze icy: “Drop the lawsuit. Now.”
Adrian hadn’t seen such steel in his sister since her suicide attempt.
He scoffed: “Why should I?”
Without another word, Maureen thrust their father’s will into his hands.
“Dad wrote this behind your and Noelle’s backs.”
Adrian froze, then snatched the document. His pupils dilated violently.

Their father had planned for this? Left everything to Maureen?
The will bore not only their father’s signature but also an official seal and fingerprint. Undeniably authentic,
Adrian ripped apart the will without hesitation. “Impossible! How could Dad leave everything to a deal bitch like you?”
“This is just a copy. Go ahead and tear it up-I’ve got plenty more.”
Maureen tossed several more copies onto the table before him.
Adrian didn’t bother shredding them. Violence had always been his language. He lunged, fingers digging into Maureen’s throat.
“You worthless bitch!”
Maureen was used to this.
Since returning to the Ramirez Family, Adrian had never treated her as his sister.
Noelle had drilled it into him: Maureen was a useless cripple, unworthy of being his sister.
Growing up, Noelle’s blatant favoritism let Adrian beat Maureen freely, molding him into this brute who defaulted to fists.
“I suddenly regret something,” Maureen gasped, his grip crushing her windpipe.
Adrian smirked. “Good. Regret threatening me. I nearly killed you as a kid-I can finish it now.”
“I regret not showing you the will sooner.
”
Rage exploded in Adrian’s eyes. His free hand swung toward her face.
But the next second, a tremendous force yanked him upright. Justin kicked him straight through the parlor doorway. Blood spurted from his mouth.
