She sent Zoe away first and told her she’d move to the countryside with her as soon as she divorced Geoffrey.
The day Maureen was discharged, Sean was taken to the hospital by his grandfather Albert Robson to get familiar with the procedures. He accidentally saw Maureen and Gareth.
“Maureen!
“Wasn’t she missing?”
She and Geoffrey were supposed to get divorced three days ago, that is, on the 15th of this month.
However, she disappeared that day and was nowhere to be found for three days.
“What’s she doing at the hospital?”
Seeing how intrigued Sean was, the president of the hospital had someone look into it immediately.
Sean was petrified when he got the documents about Maureen’s hospitalization 30 minutes later.
She took sleeping pills to…commit suicide?
Pregnant?
Hadn’t she and Geoffrey been talking about getting divorced lately?
How come she was pregnant?
“No mistakes?” Sean asked.
The clerk delivering the documents to him nodded.
Sean remembered the strange man accompanying Maureen when she left the hospital. The cold aura around him in- tensified.
It seemed he’d underestimated that woman.
Since he wasn’t sure who the father of the baby was, he didn’t know whether he should tell Geoffrey about it.
At last, he called Andrea and told her everything.
He was indebted to Andrea, and she was all alone. Only he could help her.

Chapter 22
After Maureen was discharged from the hospital, Gareth often visited to keep her company.
Her health had worsened because of the drugs.
The good thing was, she was in a better mood. Even when she lost her appetite, she’d make herself eat.
Gareth had never heard her mention Geoffrey again.
Sometimes, it hurt even to mention the beloved one’s name.
Or perhaps Maureen didn’t want her friend to get melancholy as she was.
When she was alone, she’d stare at Geoffrey’s WhatsApp profile photo for a long time.
She didn’t know how to mention the divorce again.
One day, Maureen shopped at the farmers‘ market.
She was about to go home when someone blocked her way.

In a pair of sunglasses, a mask, a showy dress, and stilettos, with her hair cascading down her shoulders, Andrea stood before Maureen condescendingly.
“Reenie, does your mom know you’re alive?” Andrea feigned a smile.
Maureen didn’t expect to run into her here.
They came to a quiet coffeehouse and sat by the window.
The heavy rain splattered against the window.
Andrea took off the mask, and her pretty face showed. “Don’t worry. Sean says Adrian took Mr. Carter’s money and fled with your mom. They won’t make trouble for you again.”
Gareth had told Maureen the same thing.
According to the agreement, Maureen was supposed to marry into the Carter family, but she didn’t. Afraid that the Carter family would get back at them, Noelle and Adrian fled abroad the day she committed suicide.
Who would’ve thought the formerly filthy rich Ramirez family would be so embarrassed because of $50 million?
Maureen listened silently and calmly.
“What’s your point?”
Andrea shifted her gaze to Maureen’s belly, which was still flat.
She pinched her palm and decided not to lay bare Maureen’s lie.
“Tell me. What do I have to do to make you leave Geoff?
“Name your price. I’ll give you the money.

How arrogant.

Maureen couldn’t help laughing.
She fixed her composed eyes on Andrea and said, “Geoffrey and I have been married for three years. Our marital property is worth billions of dollars. Do you have that kind of money?”
Even a superstar might not be able to afford it, not to mention Andrea, a returnee who had rotten inside despite her glorious outside.
Seeing the contempt in Maureen’s eyes, Andrea gritted her teeth.
Maureen had hit a nerve. She used to be the favorite daughter of the Ramirez family. To her, money was just a num- ber.
