The team tailing Gareth reported he’d returned to Country Town.
Geoffrey listened to the update, frustration boiling inside him.
These past days, he’d appeared calm outwardly, but only he knew how consumed he’d
become.
Maureen had just vanished again!
This time, right under his nose!
Geoffrey kept puzzling over her letter’s meaning, but nobody could answer for her.
One week later.
Seaside Villa.
Sean received the paternity test results. Seeing no biological link, he felt an unexpected pang of disappointment.
He glanced again at Jacob playing on the computer nearby. Not his son, yet why did the boy feel so familiar, like someone he’d known forever?
Jacob also knew today was results day.
“Uncle Sean, I’m sorry for troubling you all this time.”
After speaking, he sipped the milk Sean had just poured him.
Sean studied him thoughtfully: “Why do I feel you look more like someone the longer I watch you?”
Jacob’s eyes narrowed, his little face instantly pulling back as he looked at the computer.
“People can look alike.”
Sean withdrew his gaze, making no further guesses.
“Now, can you tell me why you messed with me in the first place?”

Jacob tapped the keyboard: “I don’t know what you’re talking about.
That stubborn mouth refusing to admit anything reminded Sean of Geoffrey.
Back when Geoffrey used schemes against rival companies, he’d act just as shamelessly.
Sean suddenly froze. He’d only felt the kid resembled someone earlier, but now it hit him–this boy looked exactly like Geoffrey as a child.
Having grown up together, Sean still vaguely remembered Geoffrey’s arrogant demeanor as a boy.
Though the thought crossed his mind, Sean didn’t mention it to Geoffrey, wary of stirring up misunderstandings.
He called Katherine to come pick him up.
Katherine assumed a week had passed since Geoffrey gave up tailing her. Yet the moment her car reached Seaside Villa, his men reported her arrival right after.
Seaside Villa.
After picking up Jacob, Katherine breathed a sigh of relief, then said bluntly to Sean: “You must compensate me.”
A check was handed over.
“I’m not an unreasonable person.”
Sean looked at the mother and son, feeling inexplicably disappointed.
To be honest, when he first learned he had a son, he wasn’t displeased; in fact, he was somewhat expectant.
Although Jacob was a bit of a rascal, he liked having a rascal son; it meant he was smart.
Katherine took the check; the money really came in handy for her urgent needs.
“Then I won’t say thanks. Bye, and let’s never meet again.”
After saying that, Katherine took Jacob’s hand and got into the car.
The two figures, one big and one small, got into a taxi, while not far away, in a black car, a pair of intense eyes remained fixed on Jacob.

In the black car, Geoffrey’s eyes were filled with shock
Wayne, who had come along, also noticed: “Isn’t that Ethan?”
Geoffrey pressed his thin lips into a tight line and slowly said: “Follow them. I’m going to see
Sean.”
“Yes.”
Sean hadn’t expected Geoffrey to come, thinking he was still busy with the online rumors.
“Geoffrey, don’t take it to heart. It’s just a woman, isn’t it?
Women like Andrea, you can find as many as you want!”
Sean placed a bottle of liquor before him.
Instead of mentioning Andrea, Geoffrey asked. “Has the child Katherine took been staying with you these days?”
Sean rubbed his nose awkwardly
“It’s all a misunderstanding”
He sat down, explaining to Geoffrey how he’d met Jacob and mistaken his identity.
Geoffrey pieced together the timeline and realized the boy they’d just seen wasn’t Ethan, who’d been living at Springwood all along!
The mystery deepened in his mind.
“You’re saying his name is Jacob? Katherine’s son?”
“Yeah.”
Geoffrey stood to leave immediately.
Surprised by his urgency. Sean questioned, “What’s wrong?”
Before departing, Geoffrey warned him:
“Don’t fall for Andrea’s lies. She never saved you.”

With that, he strode out swiftly.
Sean stood frozen alone.
He’d known about Andrea’s deception but avoided telling Geoffrey out of shame.
Did Geoffrey’s reaction mean he no longer cared about Andrea?
Sean dialed a number: “Where’s Andrea now?”
The voice answered: “Seems Geoffrey had her committed to an asylum.”
An asylum?
A cold smirk curled at the corner of Sean’s mouth.
“That place really suits her, let her stay there for a while.”

Back at Katherine’s rented apartment, Jacob surveyed the cramped space and turned to her: “Aunt Katherine, if you need money, you can tell me.”
It was the first time Katherine had heard a boy speak to her like this.
“Roy, you know what? The last man who talked to me this way just wanted to take advantage.”
She paused, reaching to pinch Jacob’s cheek, but he dodged her hand.
