Maureen didn’t want to stay alone in such vast emptiness, so she returned to her room.
She took out her phone and played some music.
The soft melodies brought her a sliver of calm.
“Boom-!”
Thunder cracked outside as lightning split the sky.
Soon, rain poured down relentlessly.
Maureen stared blankly at the downpour. She’d nearly fallen asleep when car sounds approached outside, followed by the doorbell.
Who could it be at this hour?
Unsure if Geoffrey was asleep, Maureen went to answer. Upon opening the door, she saw Andrea still in hospital clothes, a bandage around her neck, drenched and deathly pale on the doorstep.
Andrea froze upon seeing Maureen. “Where’s Geoffrey?”
“I don’t know.”
Maureen felt no obligation to explain, stepping aside to leave.
Just then, Andrea spotted Geoffrey approaching. She grabbed Maureen’s wrist, then threw herself backward, tumbling down the entrance stairs.
At the entrance and stairs covered in marble slabs, a loud “crack” echoed, like the sound of a skull fracturing.
Maureen hadn’t processed it when Geoffrey yanked her backward the next instant.
Geoffrey rushed forward.
Andrea lay on the ground, rain washing blood from her head.

Geoffrey immediately dialed emergency services.
Shoved by Geoffrey moments earlier, Maureen stumbled before steadying herself. When she looked at Andrea again, the woman appeared deathly pale, whispering weakly. “Reenie, why did you push me?”
This framing tactic never failed Andrea,
Crucially, it worked perfectly this time–Geoffrey saw Maureen as the culprit.
After calling the ambulance, Geoffrey turned to Maureen upon hearing Andrea’s words. “Didn’t I tell you I refuse to let her die in Karaville?”
Maureen couldn’t defend herself now.
Yet she wouldn’t accept false blame either.
“I didn’t push her. Don’t believe me? Fine.”
Presently, she only cared about stating facts, not justifying herself to someone who despised her.
Clutching her injured head, Andrea swayed upright and locked eyes with Geoffrey.
“Geoffrey, is this how you protect me?
She bullies me repeatedly. Must I die before you intervene?”
Being bullied again and again…
Maureen sneered inwardly: Why not talk about how she framed others repeatedly?
Andrea’s hand was stained red with blood as Geoffrey took her into the car and drove off.
Before leaving, she shot Maureen a triumphant look.
As if saying: See? Between you and me, Geoffrey will always choose me.
Maureen wasn’t upset now. Instead, she hoped Andrea and Geoffrey would get together quickly, so he’d let Ethan and her go because of her.
In the ambulance.
Geoffrey’s cold, handsome face showed no emotion: “Why come to Pearl so late?”

“I was scared alone at the hospital. Wanted to see you.”
Even with such severe injuries, she couldn’t keep Geoffrey.
She was terrified he’d truly abandon her.
Today’s events confirmed her fears.
Geoffrey’s brow furrowed slightly.
“Don’t come to Pearl again.”
Andrea’s voice choked: “Why?
Because of Maureen?
A woman like her doesn’t deserve-”
Geoffrey cut her off: “Maureen is my wife!”
Andrea’s heart plummeted, her face turning deathly pale.
“What about me?
After all I’ve sacrificed for you these years? After waiting eight years?”
“I’ll make it up to you.”
Geoffrey made a call expressionlessly to the famous director, securing Andrea the lead role in a TV series right in front of her.
“With me around, you’ll never lose fame. No need for those cheap tricks.”
Only then did Andrea realize Geoffrey had seen right through her.
Fear flickered in her eyes, and she dared not bring up marrying him again.
Earlier, online uproar over Andrea plagiarizing foreign songs had been intense.
But with Geoffrey’s connections, such a trivial matter meant nothing and was swiftly resolved.
Top brands still lined up to endorse Andrea–her reputation remained untarnished.
Geoffrey didn’t return to Pearl that night.

Maureen learned online the next day that Andrea had landed both a leading role with a renowned director and three major endorsements.
Katherine called, stomping her foot in fury.
“What incredible luck does she have?
How do brands keep flocking to her despite the plagiarism scandal?
And Samuel Green–an acclaimed director worldwide–why would he cast Andrea, a woman with no acting skills, as the lead?”
After last night’s melodramatic act at Pearl, today she reaped endorsements and a starring role.
What else could it mean?
Reenie, did you know?
Geoffrey always thought Andrea saved his mother back then, along with Sean.
Katherine was stunned.
“How could that be?”
“After I saved Heather, I passed out. Andrea was the only one beside me.
She took credit for it.”
Maureen briefly explained everything to Katherine.
Katherine couldn’t believe it: “How could Andrea be so shameless?
Did she fool both Sean and Geoffrey?”
“Reenie, you have to tell Geoffrey!”
Maureen gazed at the drizzling rain outside the window, calm. “I mentioned it once. He
wouldn’t believe me. Besides, it’s been over ten years. I’ve got no proof.”
