Chapter122
July 9th, what could that day be?
“What day?” he asked.
He didn’t bother remembering dates other than important holidays or routine business matters.
Maureen’s throat tightened, and bitterness spread through her.
“Nothing, I was just asking offhand.”
Geoffrey was finding it harder and harder to fathom what she was thinking.
He also felt that she seemed to be drifting further and further away from him…
Under the moonlight.
Maureen looked up at the face she’d adored for half her life, her voice tight: “Mr. Sutton, didn’t we have an agreement?”
Geoffrey’s hand froze against her cheek, meeting her glistening eyes.
It seemed she might break into tears any second.
For some reason, bitterness welled in Geoffrey’s chest. He withdrew his hand, threw off the blanket, and strode out of the hospital room.

Outside, he couldn’t shake the memory of Maureen’s distant
look.
Mr. Sutton?
Sitting in his car, he took a drag of his cigarette and called Wayne: “What’s today’s date?”
It was 2 a.m. Wayne jolted awake to the abrupt question.
He wracked his brain but couldn’t recall any scheduled events, scrambling to check.
No business deals. No holidays.
Then a birthday trending topic flashed on his screen- Maureen’s birthday.
Wayne called Geoffrey back.
“Mr. Sutton, today is Ms. Ramirez’s birthday.”
Thankfully, he’d done some homework when Maureen married Geoffrey.
Otherwise, he’d never have known.
Geoffrey truly hadn’t remembered–hadn’t even crossed his mind.
No wonder Maureen had reacted that way last night.
Wayne noticed Geoffrey hadn’t responded and asked, “Mr. Sutton, shall we prepare a gift?”
The cigarette burned down to his fingers before Geoffrey snapped back to reality.

“No need.”
He hung up.
Geoffrey sat in the car all night.
Early next morning, he knocked and entered Maureen’s hospital room.
She was cleared for discharge anytime.
“Come on, I’ll take you somewhere.”
Geoffrey said.
Maureen looked at him puzzled, “Where are we going?”
“Haven’t you always wanted to see the child?”
Light returned to Maureen’s empty eyes.
“Thank you…”
The gratitude felt abrupt once spoken.
He was the one who took her son, so why thank him?
“You’re welcome.”

He replied effortlessly.
The atmosphere in the car noticeably improved.

Ethan’s condition was stable, his days comfortable and well
cared for.
Still, he wondered when his jerk dad would visit again.
He remembered it might be Mom’s birthday today, unsure if Dad would celebrate it.
“Auntie, when will Uncle visit me again?”
His big eyes looked up at the nanny.
The nanny wasn’t sure. Since Alex’s last visit, after all that trouble, he probably wouldn’t want to come again.
“I don’t know either.”
Ethan sighed: “Then, Auntie, can you let me call Uncle Geoffrey?”
Eating and drinking here every day is just too boring.
Still, he wanted to mess with his scumbag dad, Alex.
The nanny looked troubled: “I don’t have permission to call Alex!”
Afraid the child wouldn’t understand, she put it another way.
“I don’t have Alex’s number.”
Ethan pretended to understand: “Oh, then next time I’ll ask Uncle Geoffrey for his number. Auntie, you can save it, okay?”
Save Alex’s number?
The nanny thought of Geoffrey’s handsome face and the

immense wealth behind it, and felt she’d found the key to happiness.
“Can I?”
The nanny was very happy.
If she could use Ethan to get close to Alex and become a High Society wife, she’d never have to worry about food and clothes again.
Ethan hadn’t expected this plump little girl in front of him to have a High Society dream.
To let her know the cruelty of the world and wake her up early.
He said: “Auntie, I’ll tell you a secret.”
The nanny listened carefully.
“What secret?”
“Uncle Geoffrey, he doesn’t like women.”
The nanny’s eyes widened in shock!
She never imagined that Alex, the president of Sutton Group, doesn’t like women but likes men!
She almost walked into the lion’s den.
The nanny couldn’t believe it: “Really?”
Ethan nodded mysteriously.
“Otherwise why wouldn’t Uncle have a wife?

Or kids?”

Geoffrey was almost thirty now. Even among ordinary men, few remained unmarried and childless at that age, let alone in High Society circles.
The nanny found this reasoning sound.
“My sweetheart, you sure know a lot.”
She couldn’t help but praise him.
Chatting and laughing, they remained unaware that Maureen and Geoffrey had already arrived at the Private Country
Estate.
Maureen memorized every turn along the way.
Geoffrey silently noted her observation but stayed quiet.
Even if she remembered this place, she couldn’t take the
child.
After getting out of the car.
Maureen strode briskly toward the house.
The nanny received word just then–Geoffrey had arrived with a beautiful woman.
She immediately told Ethan.
Hearing his deadbeat dad brought a woman, Ethan instantly thought of Andrea.
