Chapter 155 Elijah's Blood Type Report
Candice blinked, not sure how to respond for a moment, so she simply stayed quiet.
Brandon didn't say anything either and left soon after.
After he left, Candice took the two little ones to the research institute to do physical examinations for them.
This time, they were just doing some basic health checks.
The institute had all the professional medical equipment. After getting everything ready, Candice drew blood from them first.
As soon as Yasmin saw the needle, her little brows furrowed tightly, visibly filled with fear.
She asked, "Do we really have to draw blood? Can't we just check other things?"
Anais was helping Candice nearby. Hearing her words, she couldn't help but laugh and tease, "Yasmin, don't you want to be a doctor when you grow up? If you're this scared just from a physical exam, you won't be able to become a doctor later."
Yasmin sniffled and said, "I'm still a little kid right now, of course, I'm scared. When I grow up, I definitely won't be scared anymore."
Her serious explanation immediately made both Candice and Anais laugh.
Anais teased her from the side, "That's not necessarily true. Some people are still scared even when they grow up. I think you should start overcoming it slowly now, so you'll become braver in the future!"
After hearing this, Yasmin immediately felt conflicted.
She wanted to be brave too!
But shots really hurt!
Whenever she saw the cold needle tip, she couldn't help wanting to hide.
Seeing Yasmin like this, Candice had no intention of forcing her.
She rubbed Yasmin's head and comforted her, "It's okay, we can take our time with this, no rush."
"Okay!" After hearing this, Yasmin immediately nodded her little head.
Elijah, who was nearby, also came over to comfort Yasmin, saying, "It's alright, Yasmin. If you're really scared, just close your eyes. Or look at something else to distract yourself. It'll be over quickly. Shots aren't as scary as you think."
Hearing his comfort, Yasmin immediately asked curiously, "Elijah, aren't you scared at all?"
Elijah nodded and said, "I'm not scared. I'm a boy after all!"
Yasmin's eyes lit up, and she praised him admiringly, "Elijah, you're so amazing!"
Elijah smiled shyly. He patted Yasmin's shoulder and said, "Yasmin can be this amazing too! Let's work hard together!"
"Okay! Let's work hard together!"
Watching the two little ones interact, Anais felt her heart melting.
"These two little guys are so well-behaved and cute! I want to steal them and take them home!"
Candice laughed and said, "That won't do, they're both mine!"
She didn't pay attention to her choice of words, but Elijah, who was nearby, heard it.
He pressed his lips together, unable to suppress the happiness at the corners of his mouth.
Candice said he was her child!
While they were joking, Candice had everything ready and was about to draw blood from the two little ones.
Although Yasmin had mentally prepared herself, when she saw Candice coming over with the needle, she still instinctively shrank back.
Seeing this, Elijah volunteered and said, "Let me go first!"
Since Yasmin was so scared, he had to set a good example for her!
Candice understood Elijah's intention, and her expression softened.
She said to Elijah, "Okay, you go first then. If it hurts, you'll have to bear with it."
Elijah nodded, "Okay, I'm not scared. Let's start!"
Candice didn't delay. She gently held Elijah's arm, disinfected it with an alcohol swab, and then drew blood.
Elijah turned his head away with experience. Except for furrowing his little brows when the needle first went in, he didn't make a sound the whole time.
He looked really brave.
But only Candice, who had been watching him closely, noticed his eyes were also slightly red, clearly hurting enough to want to cry.
Yet he still held it in, being especially strong.
Her heart softened at once.
Candice quickly finished the work at hand. After stopping the bleeding, she immediately hugged Elijah and comforted him gently, "Elijah is so brave. You're one of the bravest children I've seen in all these years!"
Getting a loving hug, Elijah suddenly felt the pain disappear.
He happily nuzzled against Candice and said, "It didn't hurt at all!"
"Good!"
Candice nodded with a smile and praised, "Elijah is wonderful!"
Yasmin seemed to be infected by Elijah's bravery. When it was her turn, her little expression was tense, pretending she wasn't scared anymore, her small face especially serious.
Her cute appearance of pretending to be brave made Candice laugh.
However, she still felt sorry for Yasmin and didn't force her. Instead, she instructed Anais, "Help cover Yasmin's eyes so she can't see."
"Okay!" Anais responded, then held Yasmin in her arms and comforted her, "Don't be afraid. Elijah is already done, it'll be over quickly."
"I'm not scared anymore, Anais. I'm very... now!"
Before she could say the word "brave," Candice swiftly inserted the needle.
Yasmin realized her awkward situation and closed her mouth without crying out, but her pouting lips showed she wanted to cry but was holding it in.
After Candice finished drawing blood, her tears still couldn't be held back and fell.
She sobbed softly, "Shots really do hurt. Yasmin isn't as brave as Elijah."
She cried pitifully, her eyes and nose all red.
Candice pulled her into her arms and coaxed her gently, "Who says Yasmin isn't brave? We completed the blood draw. You did great!"
She nodded but still couldn't help the tears falling. While crying, she praised, "Elijah is really amazing!"
Elijah also praised her, saying, "Yasmin is very brave too! I noticed that you didn't cry at first. Next time, you should be able to hold it in like me!"
Yasmin pouted her little mouth pitifully and said in a sweet childlike voice, "Can't hold it in, just can't hold it in!"
Anais laughed so hard.
She thought these two children were so cute that they made her heart melt!
Candice also laughed until her stomach hurt. Yasmin was such an adorable little girl.
After continuing to comfort her for a while, Yasmin finally stopped crying, and only then did she take them to continue with the next examination.
After all that fuss, the whole morning quickly passed.
At noon, after Candice took them to eat, she sent them to kindergarten.
In the afternoon, she came back to work.
Around the evening, Anais came over with the examination reports.
"Ms. Elikin, the children's test results from this morning are all out."
"Let me see."
Hearing this, Candice immediately put down her work, took the two examination reports, and began to review them one by one.
First was Yasmin's. Candice had always been clear about her physical condition.
So after briefly looking it over, she set it aside first.
Then it was Elijah's turn.
