Chapter 199
**Elizabeth's POV**
"What a mess," King Louis said, crossing his arms over his chest and gazing at them with contempt.
"Look at these folks, they're not even close to being trustworthy. Werewolves really are creatures of low and irrational intelligence..."
I glared at him, and Louis quickly changed his tune, "Well, I was talking about werewolves except you."
"I am surprised that you are my MATE. No wonder your blood is so special to me. I thought you should be able to easily identify me as the most handsome, powerful, elegant, and trustworthy man of all your mates..."
I grabbed a pillow and threw it directly at his face, "Get out!"
If my body hadn't recovered yet, I would have punched him directly with my fist.
"Get the hell out of here! All of you!"
Then I closed my eyes and lay back down on the bed. I feel like I'm better off staying unconscious. It was too chaotic.
I couldn't communicate with nine men at once, and I didn't have nine mouths and nine tongues.
The room was finally quiet.
But it was only quiet for a moment, and soon I heard them arguing from outside the room again.
"Let Elizabeth stay with me forever, and I'll break my cooperation with the Blood Moon Pack's alpha. I can also help you kill all the Blood Moon Pack," Louis said.
"No way! We will definitely eradicate the Blood Moon Pack. If you don't break your partnership with the Blood Moon Pack, we will eradicate you as well."
"Then why don't you try? It's not that I look down on you. It's an objective fact that you werewolves are weak."
"Do you want to get your fucking ass kicked?"
"See, I didn't misunderstand you. Werewolves are so rude. All you can think of to solve things is fighting."
"Can you two be quiet? Don't act like kids fighting."
"King Louis, on behalf of all werewolf alliances, I am seriously discussing with you the possibility of reaching cooperation. We sincerely hope that you will give it some thought. Otherwise, the next time we meet, we will be enemies."
"Even if we can't cooperate, I hope you will release your partnership with the Blood Moon pack. We werewolves and vampires can resume as before without influencing each other."
"All of us werewolves have united to form an alliance, and there is no way the Blood Moon Pack will have any chance of winning. Are you going to tie the future of all vampires to a doomed blood moon pack?"
After a few moments of silence, King Louis' voice rang out again.
" Alright, I will release my partnership with the Blood Moon Pack and even help you defeat it, as long as you give up Elizabeth to me..."
"No way!" Everyone's voices rang out at the same time.
"You could ask for anything you want except Elizabeth."
"Don't you fucking think about possessing Elizabeth! If you even think about it again, I'll make you vampires extinct from this world!"
Louis laughed out loud, "That's funny. I just like her blood. But the fact that you guys are so attached to her makes me start to get interested in her."
"She must be extraordinary. I'll spend more time looking into what exactly makes her special."
"Nuts! We won't let you harass Elizabeth if she doesn't want to see you!"
I was touched.
No one chose to sacrifice me for profit.
I think they must have worked very hard to find me. I shouldn't have been so impatient.
In fact, I didn't mind their noise. I just didn't know how I was going to face them.
They were both my mates. One of them was the father of my baby. And I didn't even know who the father of the child was.
I was really afraid they would be angry with me for that.
But running away would not solve the problem.
"Caleb, can you come in the room for a minute? Just you come in." I said, raising my voice.
Soon, I heard the door open and then closed.
The moment Caleb stepped into the room, I could smell the plant-like aroma emanating from his body.
It smelled comforting and reassuring.
He reminded me of my time in the Poison Mist Forest.
If it hadn't been for those awful scumbags breaking the peace, then Caleb and Carolina, and I would have formed a happy family.
Maybe Caleb and I would have had our child, too.
As I was thinking randomly, Caleb came up to me.
He was still the same as before, nothing had changed.
His eyes were full of gentleness and acceptance, like green lake water, which calmed my nervousness.
Suddenly, the baby beside me let out a cry.
Caleb immediately reached out and gently stroked the baby's back to put him back to sleep.
I knew Caleb must have known the baby was not his. I hadn't even had sex with Caleb.
"I'm sorry, Caleb. I didn't mean to cheat. I just..."
"Never mind, Elizabeth, it is shameless and unethical to blame a girl whose life is threatened for losing her virginity. I know you had a difficult time. It's a miracle that you survived. I'm sorry, I should have found you sooner. I shouldn't have let you leave me and suffer so much."
These were the first sentences Caleb had said to me since we had been apart for so long.
Tears fell from my eyes uncontrollably.
I felt like a child who accidentally broke a glass and spilled juice all over the floor. Instead of blaming me for soiling the carpet, Caleb reassured me not to feel bad, asked if I was hurt, and blamed himself for not using the glass for the juice.
It had been a long time since I had felt the kindness and warmth of others. I couldn't say anything except to clutch his hand and kiss his cheek.
Caleb told me how he found me.
He and Carolina went to the grasslands with his Poison Wolves to find me, and then met Elroy and Isidore.
