Chapter 167 I Love Someone
Chapter 167 I Love Someone
Three months ago, Lord and Love walked into the massive headquarters of one of their parents’ huge multinational companies.
The towering glass building gleamed under the bright New York skyline, a constant flashy reminder of the incredible empire their family had built up over the decades.
At only twenty years old, the twins had already blasted through college thanks to an accelerated program that pushed them way ahead of everyone else.
A lot of people assumed life had been a total breeze for them just because they were born into one of the richest families in the country, but man, that couldn’t have been further from the truth.
Their childhood had been anything but normal or easy. Sure, they grew up wrapped in tons of love from their grandparents, cousins, aunts, and uncles, but Leonard and Lucinda never once let them act like spoiled billionaire kids.
From the time they were little, the expectation was crystal clear: learn everything, work your butt off, and earn whatever would eventually land in their hands.
While other kids wasted weekends playing video games or chilling with friends, Lord and Love were stuck in real business meetings, poring over complicated financial reports, and diving deep into how every part of their family’s companies actually ran.
On top of all that intense stuff, Lucinda personally drilled them in information technology. Ethical hacking, cybersecurity, coding, and every digital security trick in the book became totally second nature to the twins.
Before they even hit high school, they were already cracking problems that left seasoned professionals totally stunned and speechless. They were miles ahead of pretty much anyone their age in almost every single way imaginable.
Leonard and Lucinda had never doubted for a second that their kids would one day step up and take over the massive multibillion-dollar empire they’d built.
They’d poured years of blood, sweat, and serious dedication into preparing them for exactly this kind of moment. Today was supposed to be another huge step forward in that plan.
The whole family had gathered in the office to talk about the future management of both LL Corporations and Nature. But Love had something completely different burning in her heart, something way bigger than any boardroom discussion.
She leaned forward in her seat with this huge, bright smile lighting up her whole face, practically bouncing with excitement as she dropped the bomb.
“Mom, Dad, I’m just not ready to jump into helping manage the company yet,” she said, her eyes sparkling like crazy. “Just let Lord handle all that for now.”
The super cheerful tone in her voice didn’t ease her parents’ minds at all. If anything, it only made them way more suspicious and on edge.
Lord slowly turned toward his twin sister, narrowing his eyes as a wave of unease hit him hard. Something about this whole situation felt seriously off.
The two of them had been basically inseparable since the day they were born. They went to the same schools, crushed the same accelerated college program, graduated right alongside each other, and powered through every single training session their parents set up.
Whenever one of them stepped up, the other was always right there by their side. So why the heck was Love suddenly trying to pull back and step away from all of it?
His brows furrowed deeply as he stared at her. “Is this because of that guy?” His voice dripped with total disbelief and frustration. “I already warned you that men like him can’t be trusted at all. We need to be laser-focused on the business right now, you’re still so young, and you’ve got plenty of time later to find someone who really loves and values you the way you deserve.”
Love rolled her eyes in this big, dramatic way that showed exactly how annoyed she was getting.
Across the fancy office, Leonard and Lucinda shot each other these totally puzzled looks, having no clue what Lord was even going on about.
Even though Lucinda was now in her late forties and Leonard had hit his early fifties, the years had been ridiculously good to them.
They still looked way younger than their real ages, and standing next to their grown kids, they almost seemed more like cool older siblings than actual parents.
Love looked so much like her mom that every single time Leonard glanced at his daughter, this overwhelming warmth flooded his heart. That strong resemblance never failed to put a big smile on his face, no matter what.
Love puffed out her cheeks in frustration before shooting her brother a fierce glare. “Isn’t he still a way better choice than Asher?” she shot back, crossing her arms stubbornly. “And seriously, aren’t you embarrassed about that? You actually want me to date someone younger than me? Come on!”
The whole room got even quieter, the tension thick enough to cut with a knife. Asher was the only son of Ashley and Charlie.
Even though he was a year younger than Lord and Love, he had always carried himself with this surprising maturity that turned heads.
He kept right up with the twins academically, smashing through the same accelerated college program and graduating alongside them. His sharp intelligence spoke volumes all on its own.
Unlike Lord and Love, Asher hadn’t spent endless hours buried in cybersecurity or ethical hacking. Instead, he poured everything into other fields, pushing himself like crazy until he landed in the same classes as Love.
Everyone in the family knew exactly why he did it. He wanted to stay as close to her as humanly possible, and that kind of devotion hit deep.
Leonard blinked a few times, rubbing his forehead as he tried to wrap his head around the chaos unfolding.
“Hold on just a second,” he said, lifting one hand like he was trying to slow everything down and sort through the mess in his mind.
His usually spacious executive office suddenly felt way smaller and more cramped than it ever had before.
Lucinda looked just as lost and confused from her seat right beside him. Across from them sat their twins, now fully grown adults who looked so much like their parents it was almost unreal.
They had raised these two with so much love, rock-solid discipline, and endless patience over the years. Seeing them reach this point in life filled both parents with this incredible, bursting pride that swelled in their chests.
Love slowly pulled in a deep breath, her playful energy fading away as her expression turned dead serious. She looked straight at both of her parents with steady, determined eyes, her fingers twisting together tightly in her lap.
Finally, she gathered every ounce of courage she had. “Mom… Dad…” Her voice carried all the weight of what she was about to say. “I love someone.”
