Chapter 90 Chapter 41
Chapter 90 Chapter 41
Lhalhaine was inside her room that afternoon.
She was about to place the bouquet beside her desk when she was startled by the sudden crash of the picture frame containing her photo with Tyeron.
Yes, they had a picture together, but she wasn't afraid of anyone seeing it because no one entered her room except herself.
She gasped as the frame shattered on the floor.
Without warning, an overwhelming feeling of anxiety gripped her heart.
"No... no... it can't be," she whispered nervously.
She hated the uneasy feeling spreading through her chest and the terrible thoughts invading her mind.
Immediately, she grabbed her cellphone and dialed Tyeron's number.
She called again and again.
No one answered.
"Answer me, Ty!" she cried, nearly breaking down.
A terrible feeling settled in her heart.
Their last conversation had only been yesterday, and she hadn't liked the way he spoke.
It had sounded as though he were saying goodbye.
"Hello?"
She blinked.
That wasn't Tyeron's voice.
It was Mikael's.
"Mikael?" she asked in surprise.
"Yes, it's me."
"W-Where's Tyeron? Can I talk to him?"
"He's in the emergency room, Lyn."
It felt as though she had gone deaf.
Her knees gave out beneath her, and she collapsed onto the floor, staring blankly ahead.
"Hello? Hello? Lyn, are you still there?"
"M-Mikael... it-it's not true, right? Tell me you're just joking... You're joking, right?"
"Please... take it back," she pleaded through her tears.
"I'm sorry... I can't. Because it's the truth."
"W-What? Are you fucking serious? No! You're lying, Doc! TYERON IS NOT DEAD!"
Those words shattered her world.
Her mind went completely blank.
Her heart refused to accept it.
Her mind refused to believe it.
It felt as though she were losing her sanity.
"Tyeron is dead."
The sentence echoed endlessly inside her head.
Still crying, Lhalhaine immediately called her older sister, Lara.
"Please, Sis... talk to Mom and Dad. I need to go there... I need to see Tyeron," she pleaded.
"Lyn, calm down. Don't worry, I will. But you have to promise me you'll explain everything, okay?" Lara said seriously.
"Yes... please, if possible, talk to them immediately," she pleaded.
She couldn't calm herself that night.
What if Mikael wasn't joking?
What if something terrible had really happened to Tyeron?
What would she do?
She heard Lara sigh.
She could also hear her husband, Maximo, speaking in the background. It seemed they were discussing something.
"Okay. I'll call Uncle and Aunt. You'll come here first so I won't be alone. A driver will pick you up and take you to the airport. Your direct flight has been sponsored by Heckson, so don't forget to thank him."
"Thank you, Sis."
"Okay. I'll call you again later."
Lhalhaine hurriedly packed her things.
By God's grace, there were no problems with her parents, and they gave her permission to leave.
They only asked why her eyes were swollen and red.
She simply said she was sad about leaving them.
When she boarded the airplane, she remembered the memories she had shared with Tyeron on that very same flight.
It was the same airplane they had ridden when she saw him off.
Tears suddenly rolled down her cheeks.
She reached out and touched the seat where Tyeron had once sat.
Unable to stop herself, she stood up and quietly moved to that seat.
"Why...? Why did you suddenly disappear? Didn't you say you were going to marry me? Why did you leave first? We were so happy just the other day. Why did everything suddenly change? Ty... baby... come back to me. I can't take this. I can't bear losing you. Can't this all just be a dream? M-Maybe Mikael was only joking... Yeah... maybe he just wants to surprise me."
She wiped away her tears and stood there silently, completely stunned.
She dialed Tyeron's number once again.
Mikael answered.
"Hello, Mikael? Where are you? I'm here. Where's Tyeron? I want to see him," she asked, tears filling her eyes.
"Stay there. I'm coming."
That was all he said before ending the call.
She stared blankly at her cellphone, waiting for him to arrive.
A car soon pulled up beside her.
The window rolled down.
"Get in," Mikael ordered.
She immediately obeyed.
"Where's Tyeron—"
"Why are you here?" Mikael asked coldly.
"I'm here because I want to see Tyeron. I know you were just joking, right? H-Hey... that's not true, right?" she asked softly.
"You'll find out soon enough that it's the truth. Whether you accept it or not, nothing will change," Mikael replied coldly.
She swallowed hard.
Every word he spoke made her heart grow heavier.
When they stopped in front of the hospital, the anxiety inside her intensified.
"W-Why are we here?" she asked nervously.
He didn't answer.
Instead, he simply walked forward.
She had no choice but to follow him.
They passed the emergency room.
"W-Wait... where are we going?" she asked anxiously.
He turned to look at her.
"We're going to see Tyeron. Don't you want to see him?"
She nodded.
"Yes... but... isn't this the way to the morgue?" she asked in shock after noticing the sign.
"Tyeron is dead, Lyn. I'm not kidding. I wish I were. So... do you still want to see him?" he asked seriously as he looked straight into her eyes.
She covered her mouth.
Soft sobs escaped her lips as unbearable pain spread through her chest.
Moments later, she clutched her stomach as a sharp pain suddenly shot through it.
"T-That's not true!" she cried loudly.
Mikael remained silent, his face completely expressionless.
Lhalhaine collapsed onto the floor, crying uncontrollably until her vision blurred...
...and everything faded into darkness.
