Chapter 94
Isabella was feeling pretty nervous about meeting the director today, especially after bumping into those two jerks right when she stepped out.
"You must be missing me."
"That's why you came all the way to Moore Group to find me."
That totally wiped the smile off Mia's face. How could Isabella be so bold?
"Who's missing you?"
"Isabella, are you nuts?"
Isabella chuckled and stared at Mia. "Yeah, you must be nuts. This is Moore Group! I work here. It's not weird to run into me."
She turned to Rowan. "Let's go."
Rowan quickly followed.
"Are you looking for Vance?"
Mia's voice rang out again, making Isabella stop.
She turned back and glared at Mia. Maybe she shouldn't have left home today.
The next second, Mia bragged, "I already signed with Vance."
"Just an hour ago."
Rowan frowned, immediately checked her phone, and called Vance.
"Vance, did you really sign with someone? Why didn't you tell us?"
"We had a pretty good talk earlier."
Mia smirked. "If you don't believe me, you can call Vance yourself."
At this point, Isabella believed her, but she didn't stop Rowan from making the call. Things needed to be sorted out face-to-face.
The call connected quickly. Before Rowan could say anything, Vance spoke, "I'm sorry, I meant to tell you after signing the contract with the client."
"But they asked me to keep it confidential. My family urgently needs the money. I'm sorry, Rowan."
Rowan was speechless. She wasn't at a loss for words, but Vance had explained everything. No amount of scolding would fix the problem.
Seeing Rowan about to hang up, Isabella quickly interjected, "Vance, we get your situation. Could you recommend another reliable director?"
There was a moment of silence on the other end.
Mia's face, which had initially changed, brightened again. She was about to mock Isabella when Vance said, "I have a junior colleague, she's pretty talented."
"I'll send you her info."
Isabella smiled lightly. "Okay."
The call ended.
Mia sneered, "Isabella, aren't you worried the person he recommends might not be reliable?"
"I'm not obligated to use them."
Isabella stepped closer to Mia, who instinctively wanted to step back.
Robert grabbed Mia by the waist.
Looking into Robert's eyes, Mia smiled again.
Isabella watched their interaction, feeling helpless. Mia was married; what was she doing?
"Isabella, stop right there." Seeing Isabella walk away again, Mia was furious.
She should be happy, but something felt off. Isabella, a supposed failure, shouldn't react like this!
"Enough, everyone is watching."
"Focus on your work and let your results speak."
Initially, Mia was upset by Robert's first sentence, thinking he might still have feelings for Isabella. But his last sentence erased all her dissatisfaction. "You have to help me; I don't have the resources for this project."
"I'll find someone to assist you."
Robert had investments and was curious to see how Isabella would manage to join Moore Entertainment Company if she failed.
Reflecting on the past, Isabella hadn't shown much interest in this field. Since being with Matthew, she had changed significantly, becoming almost unrecognizable.
There was a strange emotion in his eyes.
"Robert, you're the best," Mia said with a happy smile.
Back at her desk, Rowan contacted Vance's recommended colleague.
She was out of town and could meet them earliest by tomorrow, so they arranged to meet then.
Rowan was still worried. "Secretary Taylor, can we trust Vance's recommendation?"
"I'll reach out to others as well."
Isabella nodded. "Good, let's cover all bases."
Rowan went to handle the arrangements.
Alfonso approached them, feeling a bit awkward.
"Is there anything I can help with?"
"You can spend more time with Aaron, discussing the script together."
Isabella smiled lightly. "I believe in you two."
Before Alfonso could respond, Rowan spoke up, "Mia is clearly trying to oppose us."
"So we need to surpass them fundamentally."
This was outrageous.
Seeing Rowan's anger, Isabella smiled. She remained calm and started reviewing resumes.
The next day, the four of them met with the female director, Thea Ellis.
She was very interested in the project and shared their enthusiasm during the discussion. Isabella offered her a deal, and she accepted without hesitation.
From then on, Isabella was genuinely busy.
Matthew only saw her at home in the evenings.
Seeing her exhausted, lying on the bed, he frowned. "You can delegate tasks. Don't handle everything yourself."
He reached out to massage Isabella's calves.
Initially, Isabella felt ticklish and didn't want Matthew to touch her, fearing it might spark desires and disrupt her schedule the next day.
Matthew firmly held her ankle and whispered, "Don't move."
"If you keep moving, we'll proceed with other matters."
The implication was clear. Isabella glared at Matthew but eventually settled down.
Soon, Isabella began to moan comfortably.
"A bit more pressure. Did you learn this technique?"
"Feels good."
Matthew increased the pressure slightly.
"Ouch, lighter." Isabella immediately protested.
Matthew thought, "She's hard to please," but he softened his touch.
Twenty minutes later, Matthew smiled helplessly at the sleeping Isabella.
"Good morning, Mom." After last night's massage, Isabella's legs felt much better, and she was in a good mood.
Ava noticed their positive emotions but couldn't avoid mentioning something troubling about Liam.
"Cleo decided to keep the baby."
"Previously, Liam caught his mistress cheating and discovered the child wasn't his. He sent them abroad."
Isabella's eyes widened. She instinctively looked at Matthew.
Matthew should have received this news sooner. Liam had defended his mistress and child so fervently before. How did he change his mind so quickly?
It felt like a performance.
Ava glanced at Isabella's belly again.
"Isabella, family comes first. Our kind of family needs an heir to carry on the legacy."
