Chapter 93
Isabella rubbed her eyes. "I really don't wanna go to work."
Bianca nudged her shoulder gently, glancing toward the door and lowering her voice. "Isabella, Matthew's here."
"What?" Isabella's eyes were still bleary as she frowned at Bianca, giving her cheek a playful pinch.
"What nonsense are you talking about? Or am I dreaming right now?"
Bianca looked at Isabella helplessly. "No dream, he's really in the living room."
Isabella looked toward the door, but from her angle, she could only see the back of the sofa. She craned her neck to peek outside and indeed saw a dark silhouette.
A smile flickered in her eyes, but she moved slowly as she sat back down. "Who invited him? I was planning to crash at your place tonight."
Bianca thought Isabella could be quite contrary at times. Oh well, she couldn't do anything about it.
"Please tidy up. I feel awkward being alone with him."
"Why would you feel awkward? He's your brother-in-law." Bianca started checking her phone, nodding dismissively.
Seeing her like that, Isabella didn't say anything else and headed to the living room.
Matthew turned his head, and their eyes met. Isabella felt she should question him, but if Matthew had really done something wrong, would he come to pick her up so early? Besides, everyone has their own privacy. Their previous way of getting along was good. Continuing it seemed fine. She deliberately ignored the slight unease in her heart and greeted him with a smile.
"Had breakfast yet?"
"No."
Isabella frowned. "You came over without eating? Bianca didn't know you were coming, so she probably didn't prepare anything for you. Ask her to make you something."
Matthew thought: Ask Bianca to help? Isabella wasn't even gonna fry me an egg?
His eyes showed a hint of grievance, but Isabella had already gone to the bathroom to brush her teeth.
Bianca, hearing Isabella, came out of the bedroom and headed to the kitchen to fry some eggs.
The kitchen and bathroom were next to each other. Matthew looked at the layout of the apartment—it was too small. He picked up his phone but put it down again, thinking that if the place was too big and comfortable, Isabella might come over every day.
The three of them sat at the table. Bianca glanced at Matthew. "Breakfast is simple; make do with it."
Isabella smiled. "It's delicious. I'll come again next time."
Hearing this, the corners of Isabella's mouth turned up slightly.
Matthew thought: Isabella has a home, but doesn't go back?
They parted ways downstairs, and Isabella followed Matthew to the company.
The casting on her end was finalized. Once the details were sorted out, they could start shooting, with an estimated three-month timeline. However, there was an issue with the director.
Isabella didn't want to use too many company resources, but as luck would have it, all the directors were busy.
"Even without securing a director, you've cast the roles and want to shoot? It must be a terrible show."
Eloise heard her assistant complain and added her own harsh words. Since the last time she had sent out a recording, the company hadn't approached Eloise, boosting her confidence. She believed Floyd was her ace in the hole, ensuring her status as long as he was around.
"Eloise."
Skylar approached, handing Eloise a bubble tea.
Eloise met her eager eyes, understanding her intentions.
"Skylar, how's your shoot going?"
Skylar smiled. "Eloise, I'm almost done with my current project."
"I have to go into the mountains tomorrow for a shoot. I'll be gone for about half a month."
Eloise knew what Skylar was hinting at, but didn't bite. The photos she'd handed over earlier hadn't caused a stir, so this matter couldn't be rushed.
Suddenly, an idea brightened her eyes.
"Secretary Taylor's script is about to start filming. I'll talk to Ash and see if I can get you in."
Since opportunities to interact with Matthew were limited, she had to find another way.
Men could be deeply affectionate, but that affection could be transferred to different women.
Skylar, hearing this, showered Eloise with compliments.
She had doubts, though. Wouldn't directly coordinating with Isabella be better? But Eloise was domineering and disliked being contradicted, so Skylar stayed silent.
If Eloise couldn't help, she'd have to rely on herself.
Just as she left the office, she saw Rowan coming out of the elevator and greeted her.
"Rowan, have you finished the script?"
Rowan, seeing Skylar, felt her fatigue lift, her mind recalling the previous photo incident.
Moreover, Skylar's current style was similar to Isabella's.
"What's up?"
Skylar was sensitive to Rowan's gaze.
Rowan shook her head. "Nothing."
She was about to leave.
Skylar frowned slightly. Rowan hadn't answered her question.
And the way she looked at her earlier was strange. Had Eloise's previous actions worked, drawing Isabella's attention?
Thinking this, she grew anxious. Was she about to lose a hard-won opportunity?
If she had never been ambitious, she might have remained calm. But having dreamed, how could she give up now?
"Rowan, do you have any roles suitable for me in your script?"
"Can you introduce me to Secretary Taylor?"
Rowan sighed. "The team isn't fully formed yet. The remaining roles will be cast by the director."
"You're under the Moore Entertainment Company; you should have opportunities."
Skylar wasn't satisfied with this answer, but her status limited her to smiling and agreeing.
Watching her leave, Rowan felt troubled.
This was a minor issue. Would it waste Isabella's time if she reported it?
Eloise, hearing her assistant report Skylar's request to Rowan, chuckled. "See? People don't stay aloof forever. They only act high and mighty when they lack leverage."
The assistant whispered, "Eloise, should we remind her? If she's too eager, she might mess things up."
Eloise shook her head, smiling.
"No need."
"Her efforts are better than mine."
She couldn't waste any of her resources.
"Isabella, fancy seeing you again."
Mia, arm in arm with Robert, smiled at Isabella.
Isabella had been walking and discussing something with Rowan when Mia called out. She frowned slightly, staring at the pair.
Why did she keep running into them?
