Chapter 29
Thinking about how Matthew never had women around him, the assistant quickly explained, "Women love the latest designer handbags."
Matthew looked at the message and frowned slightly. He didn't understand, but he respected it.
Matthew: [Get the most expensive and newest ones, right away.]
The assistant immediately replied: [Mr. Moore, I'll arrange it right away. Mrs. Moore will definitely be satisfied.]
Isabella asked, "Why aren't you talking again? Matthew, do you think I'm acting like a shrew right now?"
Isabella was angry again, struggling to get out of Matthew's embrace.
Matthew patiently said, "No. You're very cute."
Isabella's face twisted. Cute? Was that a compliment?
She stared at Matthew, feeling a bit happy inside. What was this feeling?
So pathetic!
Isabella immediately found fault, "Why only call me cute? Am I not pretty? When men compliment women, they only call them cute when they think the woman isn't pretty."
Matthew was a bit confused, but he did think Isabella, with her red eyes and fierce demeanor, was indeed cute.
Matthew said, "You're very pretty."
Isabella pouted, "That's just a brush-off."
Matthew must be surrounded by beautiful women all the time.
What a jerk!
She glared at Matthew again.
Matthew felt helpless, hoping the assistant would arrive soon. He was barely holding on.
Women were much harder to deal with than projects.
There was a knock at the door.
Isabella glanced at Matthew and muttered, "Could it be Grandpa found out?"
Then she'd get scolded again.
Matthew felt both amused and annoyed. Isabella was so bold in front of him but so timid outside.
Matthew said, "Don't worry, I'm here."
These words reassured Isabella a lot.
"Matthew, if you hadn't made me angry yesterday, you wouldn't have slept alone, and you wouldn't have fallen. So it's all your fault, and you should take responsibility." Isabella quickly said, feeling a bit guilty when she met Matthew's eyes.
She added, "I'll get the door."
Matthew looked at her mischievous expression, his eyes showing amusement. So pathetic!
"Mrs. Moore, I'm Mr. Moore's assistant, Riley Price."
Isabella nodded and looked back at Matthew.
Riley had already received Matthew's signal and smiled at Isabella, "Mrs. Moore, Mr. Moore has arranged for limited edition handbags and jewelry for you. Some have already arrived downstairs."
Riley asked, "The rest are on the way. Would you like to go down and take a look now?"
Isabella was unsure. Matthew was giving her these things?
When did he contact the assistant? Last night? Or just now?
It must have been just now. She saw Matthew fiddling with his phone. So he knew how to make her happy?
Isabella awkwardly stared at Matthew. He had prepared these things, so if she kept making a fuss, wouldn't that be rude?
But if she immediately showed happiness, wouldn't that seem shallow?
What if Matthew always dismissed her like this in the future?
Matthew saw Isabella's initial happiness turn into hesitation. He truly didn't understand women.
Was it still not enough?
He was about to glance at Riley when Isabella spoke, "We can't let them come for nothing. Come with me downstairs."
Matthew breathed a sigh of relief. This matter seemed to be settled, right?
He glanced at Riley, who sensibly left, closing the door behind him.
Isabella, in a good mood, helped Matthew to his wheelchair, feeling less guilty seeing him sit down. He seemed almost back to normal.
Matthew: [I'll take care of your leave from work.]
Matthew was still thinking about it.
Isabella frowned and said, "I was parachuted into the company. It's not good to keep taking leave."
Matthew was a bit unhappy.
Isabella's eyes shifted and she said, "I'll take half a day off."
Matthew was still dissatisfied but knew Isabella's stubbornness wouldn't budge.
Matthew: [Okay.]
Isabella smiled, seeing that he didn't force her.
When she saw the various limited edition handbags in the living room, her eyes lit up, forgetting all about work.
She admired them first, then took photos of her favorites to share with Olivia and Bianca.
Both replied quickly.
Isabella couldn't keep up with the messages.
Matthew saw her chatting happily and felt his mood lift.
Isabella picked out items fiercely, realizing the total cost was in the eight figures. She felt a bit embarrassed looking at Matthew.
Matthew just glanced at Riley.
Riley immediately went to settle the bill.
Isabella was glowing with joy.
She said, "Matthew, thank you."
She then started explaining to Matthew why she chose each handbag.
Matthew listened to her reasons for buying them for investment and felt a bit heartbroken.
He typed: [I can support my wife. You don't need to worry so much about buying things.]
Isabella looked at the words on her phone, then at Matthew's eyes, her heart skipping a beat.
Her mouth moved, feeling something spreading inside, her nose tingling.
She couldn't be so sentimental!
Isabella smiled again and said, "I like them. I chose these because I like them."
The butler had the servants move the items to the closet. Isabella stood in the closet, admiring them. So nice!
"The space is a bit small. I'll have the butler clear out the guest room next door for your things." Matthew suddenly said.
Isabella was delighted but felt she shouldn't be so greedy.
She said, "No need. It's perfect now. It feels like home."
Matthew didn't say more.
Having gained so much, Isabella decided to tolerate Matthew more and avoid last night's situation.
The phone rang at an inconvenient time. Seeing the caller ID, Isabella frowned.
Matthew glanced but said nothing.
Robert questioned, "Isabella, why are you taking leave again? You..."
Isabella interrupted Robert, "Mr. Davis, I've already coordinated with Olivia. Work will proceed as usual this morning. She can handle it."
The project was stalled due to technical issues, which had nothing to do with her peripheral role.
Matthew was pleased to see Isabella efficiently hang up.
Isabella pushed Matthew back to the bed.
She said, "Matthew, let's take a nap. I didn't sleep well in the guest room last night. I had such long dreams."
Matthew was used to her chatter. He hadn't slept well either.
Isabella talked while covering Matthew with a blanket, losing her balance and falling on top of him.
"What are you doing? Get off from Matthew, you shameless woman!" A woman burst into the bedroom, rushing to pull Isabella off.
