Chapter 271

Chapter 271

Isabella bit directly into Matthew's shoulder.

Matthew let out a muffled grunt. Isabella smelled blood and immediately released her bite, then pushed Matthew away.

"You're hurt? Let me see."

Seeing that Isabella was still worried about him, Matthew's lips curved up, "It's fine. As long as you don't blame me."

Watching him still able to smile, Isabella felt conflicted. She naturally resented Matthew—she'd been living on edge this whole time.

But seeing him alive, with all his limbs intact, she also felt deeply comforted.

"What exactly happened?"

Matthew kept it brief, "I really did run into danger abroad. I had extra people with me, but Liam truly wanted me dead. He went all out. Luckily I was cautious and lucky enough to make it back."

"How long have you been back?" Isabella frowned.

Matthew answered honestly, "Just a week."

Isabella stared into Matthew's eyes, finally saying quietly, "Fine. Do you know what's been happening here? Mom and Faye are at the company now. Since you're back, go help them out."

Plus, once Matthew showed up, that transfer agreement Liam and his people had created would be exposed as fake. Liam's family was completely finished.

Matthew smiled slightly, "No rush. If this person hadn't tried to hurt you, I might have waited even longer to appear."

Isabella immediately glared at Matthew, "Do you know how worried I was about you? You could have told me what was going on. I could have kept it secret for you. Do you know how much it hurt when I saw those videos online?"

As she spoke, Isabella started crying.

Matthew quickly comforted Isabella.

Once Isabella's emotions had settled a bit, Matthew explained, "I know what's been happening here. Uncle Liam was convinced I was dead, so I wanted to play along. There have always been problems inside the Moore Group, but the problems run too deep. I wanted to solve them from the outside—this was actually an opportunity."

Isabella understood what Matthew meant, "So when you said you need to wait, it's because things aren't completely resolved yet?"

"Right."

Matthew had his own considerations.

There was movement in Hayden's room. The couple both looked over, then Matthew said, "I'll go in and talk to Grandpa about something. You stay here and relax."

When Isabella looked down again, the person who had tried to stab her was nowhere to be seen.

Matthew said calmly, "My people are outside. Everything's fine."

Isabella nodded. She watched Matthew enter Hayden's room. There were no loud sounds from inside.

Isabella took out her phone. She really wanted to share this with someone. Finally she went upstairs to find Bianca, but couldn't wake her up no matter what.

She quickly contacted Joshua. Since Matthew was still at home and it wouldn't be good for others to see him, Joshua was Matthew's friend and could at least keep it secret.

Inside the room, Hayden looked at Matthew's injuries and completely believed his words. He smiled bitterly, "I never thought Liam couldn't tolerate you this much. Forget it. Since you're back, you can do whatever you want."

Matthew stared at Hayden, "Grandpa, are you sure I can do whatever I want? If I get the evidence, Uncle Liam will spend the rest of his life in prison. And Chase too."

The expression on Hayden's face grew more bitter, "Do what you want. I'm afraid if I go soft again this time, next time they'll come after me."

Matthew felt some sympathy for Hayden.

Hayden wanted the family to be harmonious, but Liam wanted everything. Now that he'd gotten nothing, he'd brought it on himself.

Matthew had wanted to wait longer, but Chase was getting aggressive, trying to go after Ava and Faye, so he had to go to the company.

Isabella really wanted to see Chase's expression when he saw Matthew, but Matthew wouldn't let her go to the company.

"Then have Riley livestream it for me."

Matthew looked at Isabella indulgently, "Okay."

After everyone left, Isabella was still smiling. Bianca watched from the side and laughed too, "Isabella, you look just like Citrus."

Isabella smiled, "Bianca, from the moment I saw Matthew, I felt like everything was okay. The baby and I don't have to worry anymore."

Seeing her looking so happy, Bianca was happy for her too.

At the company, when Matthew appeared, all the Moore Group employees were shocked.

Poppy grabbed her phone and rushed to find Chase.

"Mr. Moore, this is bad!"

"What's bad?"

Chase's expression was full of irritation. Some people in the company kept opposing him. Although he'd driven out Ava and Faye, he'd had to promise those people a lot of benefits.

None of them were any good!

"It's Matthew!"

"Isn't he dead?"

Chase stared coldly at Poppy.

Poppy immediately showed him the photos on her phone.

Chase didn't pay attention at first, but seeing Poppy's nervous expression made him think absurd thoughts.

"Matthew came back to life? Or maybe I never died at all?"

Riley opened the door to the CEO's office.

Matthew stood in the doorway, his gaze sweeping toward Chase.

Chase's pupils contracted, "You're not dead? How can you not be dead?"

Matthew strode toward the desk, seeing it somewhat messy, and immediately frowned.

"Move."

Hearing this, Chase instinctively stood up, but after standing, he realized what he'd done. He stared at Matthew angrily.

"Why should I leave? The Moore Group is mine now!"

Chase stuck his neck out defiantly, "Who told you to have an accident abroad? You can't blame me for that. Besides, a lot of decisions have changed. There's no point in you staying at the company."

Seeing Chase being stubborn, Matthew sneered, "If you don't leave, someone will come take you away."

"What do you mean?"

Chase was afraid of Matthew deep down. Hearing him say this made him even more uneasy.

Riley said directly, "Mr. Chase Moore, about the transfer agreement. You completely faked it. You need to take legal responsibility for this. And the fake accounting you did with Ash also needs to be investigated."

Chase could push the transfer agreement onto Liam, but what about the fake accounting? What was he supposed to do?

There were other things involved too. Chase really panicked.

He looked viciously at Matthew again. How could he still be alive?

"Why didn't you die? Why did you have to come back?"

Murderous intent flashed in Chase's eyes.

Several bodyguards immediately appeared outside the office.

Seeing this, Chase despaired, "It was you, wasn't it? You planned this, didn't you? How could it be such a coincidence? How could you not be dead? You knew what my dad was thinking from the start, didn't you?"
