Chapter 270

Chapter 270

"But you still need to end things with Chase soon."

Isla was still a bit hesitant.

"Grandpa, Liam and his wife are in trouble. Will Hayden give up on Chase too? Now that Matthew is gone, Chase is basically the only male heir in the family."

Isla touched her belly, "Even if Isabella and I are both pregnant, the significance is different."

Quincy sighed, "I don't know what Hayden is thinking, but I know we the Morris family can't get dragged into this. Even if you and Chase separate temporarily, you're carrying his child. If things go well, you two can still be together."

Dane immediately said, "Then let's not make it sound so final. We won't get involved in Liam and his wife's affairs. Let Chase deal with it himself, and Isla can just rest at home."

Quincy stared at Dane, "That's fine, but you need to clean up all the shady things you've done together."

The government investigated the Moore family, and they'd definitely look into the Morris family too, so everything needed to be handled properly.

Dane quickly nodded.

Quincy said no more. He was tired too.

Chase got nowhere asking the Morris family for help and wanted to find Isla.

In the end, Isla gently but firmly turned him away. He had no choice but to figure things out himself.

But he still underestimated how tempting the Moore Group was. In just one week, Ash's situation was exposed.

Because Ash had been at the Moore Group all along, and Chase hadn't managed to get Liam and Cleo out, he also had to go to the police station for questioning.

Ava rushed to the company as soon as she got the news.

Faye went with her.

Isabella stayed home.

"I'm a bit nervous."

Bianca comforted Isabella, "Isabella, being nervous now won't help. What's done is done. What you need to do now is relax. Your mother is handling things."

Most importantly, Liam's family no longer posed a threat for now.

To distract herself, Bianca did yoga with Isabella and made some desserts, but Faye and Ava still hadn't returned by nine at night.

Isabella messaged Faye, who replied quickly.

Faye: [Isabella, we still have some things to deal with and will be back late. Don't wait up for us.]

Isabella went to Bianca's room.

She had so much she wanted to say, but once she lay down, Isabella quickly fell asleep.

Bianca was surprised to see her fall asleep so fast, but smiled and closed her eyes too.

The next morning, when Isabella came downstairs, she didn't see Ava and Faye.

"Tamsin, have you seen Faye and my mom?"

Tamsin brought back breakfast and said gently, "Mrs. Moore and Ms. Moore didn't come home last night. I was planning to bring them some food at noon."

Isabella wanted to go check on the company too.

But Bianca stopped her, "Isabella, things are chaotic right now. Even more chaotic than when Liam's family was at the Moore Group."

Isabella understood what Bianca meant, but with Ava and Faye at the company for a day and night, she was curious about what was happening.

She decided to call Faye.

"Isabella."

"You and Mom didn't come home last night?"

Isabella asked quickly.

Faye sighed on the other end, "Isabella, you have no idea how chaotic things are at the company. And many people won't cooperate with us, so we have to spend more time here. And this is all while Chase isn't back yet. We got word that he'll be out by noon today. When he gets back to the company, there'll be another tough battle."

Isabella thought Chase was quite something. He'd had plenty of scandals before, but they couldn't find anything truly incriminating to send him to the police station directly.

When she looked away, she unexpectedly saw Jett. Her heart stirred.

She lowered her eyes slightly, suppressing her quickening heartbeat, feeling a bit frustrated. If Hayden really intervened, she wouldn't be able to find anything.

Forget it, she'd better stay calm for now.

Just as Faye said, when Chase returned to the Moore Group, he confronted Ava.

Because the transfer agreement was still under investigation, even though many people at the company still supported Chase, it wasn't easy to get rid of Ava.

Three days later, everything was settled. Liam and Cleo were both locked up.

Ava felt like she'd finally let out a breath.

Isabella and the others were all in good spirits.

Everything was moving in a good direction.

"Who are you?"

Isabella came downstairs feeling a bit dizzy and saw a strange woman standing at Hayden's door.

Isabella had an impression of all the regular servants.

"Mrs. Moore, I'm the gardener. Before Tamsin left for the company, she didn't see any other servants, so in a hurry, she asked me to bring things to Mr. Hayden Moore first."

The woman spoke with lowered eyes.

Isabella still frowned. After a moment, she said, "Put the things down and leave."

The woman looked up, her eyes meeting Isabella's.

But the next instant, the woman quickly lowered her head, put the things on the table, and prepared to leave.

Isabella took out her phone. Something felt off, and she wanted to ask Tamsin.

But before she could send the message, the woman quickly ran toward her, a cold gleam in her eyes.

Isabella immediately sensed danger, regretting that even though she'd noticed something was wrong, she'd stayed in the living room.

"Someone!"

"Don't bother calling. I've either sent people away or drugged them unconscious. I was planning not to hurt the child, but you missed that chance yourself, so you can just die."

The woman's voice was full of murderous intent.

"Who sent you? How much did they pay you? I can pay you double."

Isabella tried to stall the woman.

But the woman snorted coldly, refusing to talk to Isabella, and thrust the dagger at her.

Isabella's whole body tensed, her legs went weak, and despair rose in her heart. Was she really going to die like this at the Moore Manor today?

But she didn't want to die, so she shouted again, "Grandpa!"

The woman hadn't gone inside yet, so maybe she hadn't successfully drugged Hayden.

The woman's eyes were full of disdain, "You think an old man with bad legs can do anything?"

Isabella's breathing quickened, "Did Chase send you?"

The woman sneered, "You'll know when you're dead."

The cold gleam of the knife flashed before Isabella's eyes. She was so unwilling!

But the expected pain didn't come. There was the sound of something heavy hitting the ground and a muffled groan.

Isabella held her breath and slowly opened her eyes, shocked, "It's you!"

Matthew quickly moved toward Isabella.

But Isabella's eyes were filled with anger!

"I'm sorry. I came too late."

Matthew held Isabella tight.
