Chapter 167 Putting On A Show
Chapter 167 Putting On A Show
Bri
I was relaxing on the sectional and watching and listening to the twins, who were speaking to a couple of men who had met them after they had called the number attached to a ‘fishing expedition’. They are recruiting new members for Dekon’s ‘cult’. They are selling it like it’s some self-help group, with Dekon as this new self-help guru type of a thing. I almost threw up thinking about him being some kind of glorified self-help guy.
Right now, though, I was purposefully attempting not to laugh myself off of the sectional. Sean wasn’t doing much better, and Nicole had already laid on the floor. She was laughing so bad. Samaria and Selenia had both of these guys going around in circles, and it was amazing.
“So, it’s really just that easy to get in on all of this and have him help us?” I could almost see Samaria twirling her long blond hair around her finger and batting her eyes.
“Yes, he’s amazing, and he wants to reach as many as possible. That’s why we come and look for young adults who are trying to find their way in the world. So many of you are confused and looking for the direction their lives should take. He’s so wonderful at helping people. We’d love to have you come and see for yourselves.” I couldn’t remember which of these morons was speaking.
“We’ll definitely be there; we are just so excited.” That was Selenia.
I was finally able to get myself under control now that they were just exchanging logistics information. Sean was typing away, so no doubt he already had that address mapped, and he’d know everything about every single thing around the building.
“We need to make sure that Bishop has them fully miced and has a way for us to locate them just in case this ends up being a trap to grab unsuspecting beautiful young girls.” He nodded.
“Yeah, we already have everything in place to make sure that is the case for all of them. Elija is contacting a number for a similar advertisement, and we are planning to try and see if all four of them end up in the same location for a meeting. That is another way that we have a backup in place in case they attempt to grab the girls.” I nodded, feeling better about that.
“I know you and Bishop have this thing all handled; I just worry about them.” He turned and smiled at me.
“We know, Bri, if you didn’t worry about them and make sure they were safe, you wouldn’t be you.” I smiled a bit.
My mates, fathers-in-law, and my dad were all in the control center watching and listening to what Sean just had been. Sean had just thought Nicole and I would want to as well, but with the babies, we needed to stay here. So, he decided to just bring his laptop here and include us. I was so glad he did. I so needed that laugh.
It wasn’t too much after that both my mates entered the door. I smiled, excited to see them both. I was also starting to crave blood, so I needed them. Armond must have seen the look on my face because he smiled and then did the whole vampire speed thing to me, scooping me up and putting me on his lap.
The kids were playing on the floor where we had sequestered them. With me sitting sideways on Armond’s lap, I could sit up more and reach his neck. I bit him gently, loving the sigh he always had when I did this. It didn’t take me long to feel it was enough, and I licked the wound closed. This pregnancy had been different, and so I didn’t need as much, but here towards the end I had noticed a bit of an uptick in my cravings.
He just held me even though I was through. He brought up the hand that wasn’t against my back, combed his fingers through my hair, and stroked my cheek. “I hear you were laughing hysterically at the whole show this afternoon.” I smiled as I nodded.
“Nicole had to lie on the floor so she didn’t fall off the sectional. She was laughing so hard. I was totally in danger of a spontaneous urinary accident, but I managed to avoid that.” I heard Allen laugh, and so did Armond.
“It’s just going to be us for dinner tonight, so does anything sound particularly good?” I was thinking about that, and the first thing that popped into my head was that they both sounded good, but as that wasn’t technically food, I tried to think of something else.
Armond leaned closer to my ear. “I know you were just thinking something very naughty, and we can take care of that later, but we really should feed those babies some real food right now.”
I grinned at him; he knew me so well. “Actually, we haven’t done Chinese in quite a while. Either that or whatever we have in the fridge.” He nodded.
“I’m going to order Chinese. Do you want your usual, Bri?” I heard Allen ask from the kitchen.
“Yes, that sounds good.” I heard him getting the menu together and then talking on the phone as he placed the order.
Armond had gone from caressing my face to rubbing my belly. I huffed when I got kicked hard where his hand was. He paused and looked down at my stomach. Then he moved his hand and rubbed a certain spot. Then his hand got kicked again, and he laughed. When he laughed, both boys felt like they rolled around.
“Wow, they are being very responsive tonight.” I nodded, just smiling.
“What’s up, guys?” Allen came into the room looking at us.
“The kids are kicking my hand and rolling around when I laugh.” I saw Allen break out into a smile when Armond said that.
So of course then Allen had to kneel in front of the couch and put his mouth to my stomach. “Hey, little guys. We can’t wait to meet you.”
There was a huge bulge that seemed to push against where his mouth had been. I couldn’t tell if it was a but or a head or what, but it was like, ouch. Allen rubbed that spot, and he got kicked; then he laughed. He started to pull his hand away, and the strangest thing happened.
There was suddenly a blue bubble around my stomach and his hand. My eyes got huge because the only time I had seen the kids use their shields was when there was danger, so I was searching everywhere for the danger. Then I felt my fae part comforting me, so I relaxed.
Allen tried to pull his hand back, but he wasn’t able to, and we all laughed. He kept getting pushed or kicked against his hand. The bubble dissipated, and then he could move his hand. I guess they had learned a new trick. It was actually quite interesting. I wondered what else they’d be able to do.
