Chapter 162 Different Visitors?
Bri
Nicole was with me, and we were playing with the babies in the living room when one of the enforcers from my group outside came into the room and cleared his throat. I looked up at him and smiled, but noted he had a rather serious look on his face.
“Luna, there is a group of people here who are asking to see you. We have them at the gate. I have already called your mates, and they will be here in a moment. They said to wait for them before you go and investigate.” I nodded.
“Thanks for letting me know.” He left out the door, no doubt to wait for my mates to get here.
“Well, what do you think that is about?” Nicole asked me.
“Hell if I know,” I said truthfully.
I grabbed my cell and called my mother-in-law, Rebeka, and she answered quickly, “Hello, sweetheart, what’s up?”
“Well, I was just told there is a group of people at the gate who are asking to see me. They contacted both Allan and Armond, and they are on their way to go with me to check out what’s going on. Nicole is here with me and the babies, but I’d rather not leave her here alone with them while we go and check out what’s up. Her mates are at the control center this morning, so do you think you and Marie could pop over for a few minutes to help?”
“Of course, sweetheart. We’ll be there in about ten minutes." I thanked her and hung up.
Nicole was smiling at me. “You know you could have left me here alone with them, and it would have been just fine.”
I smiled, “I know, but just in case something goes sideways, I don’t want you to be here alone trying to take care of getting them someplace safe.”
She paled, “I never thought of that.” I nodded.
“I never would have before, but now, I find myself constantly assessing situations for safety.” She nodded, then reached over and gave me a side hug.
My mates showed up first, both coming to hug and kiss me, then hugging and kissing babies who wanted their attention. I had to laugh as the babies always made a beeline right for them when they came home after being away for any time at all. I loved seeing how much our children loved them and vice versa.
“Your moms are coming over to watch the kids with Nicole while we go and see what’s happening at the gate.” They both nodded.
My mothers-in-law got there fairly quickly after that, and I kissed the babies goodbye and gave Rebeka and Marie hugs as well. They shooed all of us off, no doubt anxious as we all were to find out what was going on.
We walked the short distance to the gate, and I saw a group of five people, three women and two men. The closer I got, the more and more my parts got very attentive and started getting on alert. I was nervous, feeling it. They felt strange to me, and I wondered why.
“Do you guys feel that?” I looked at both of my mates, who looked at me puzzled.
“They feel a little different to me, but nothing alarming. Are you feeling like they are a threat?” Armond asked me while moving somewhat in front of me.
“I honestly don’t know. They feel strange, but all of my parts are going rather nuts at the moment, but I can’t tell why.” He nodded, and Allan’s wolf came closer, as well as Armond’s vampire. I could feel their energy licking lightly at my skin.
When we were just a little bit away, it was like some silent signal, and they all immediately turned and focused in on me, like they could feel me the same way I could feel them. I stopped and just assessed. I could feel the enforcers gather close, just watching me. They would all defend me, and were waiting to see if I felt a threat. I didn't feel a threat really, just that something was off.
“Fuck, it’s true, you are more than one, just like us in some ways, but different in others.” When one of the guys said that, it suddenly clicked,
“You’re all hybrids.” They all nodded.
“We heard that you were helping hybrids, which is unheard of, especially hybrids like us. They would kill us automatically if they found us.” I checked again.
“Holy shit, you are Illonian hybrids.” I kept looking and feeling, because it was more than that.
“Wait, why the hell do I feel Andalonian on you as well?” I stepped back one step before I felt like shit for doing it.
They saw me do that, and I could read fear and trepidation from them all. “Sorry, I was recently very hurt by an Andalonian, but I have also been hurt by Ilonnian, so I should be the last to judge. I’m sorry about that.” They nodded.
“I have a feeling we need to have a conversation.” My mates looked to me.
“We need to talk to them. I feel like it’s important.” Both Allan and Armond nodded.
“We’ll take you guys to the pack house; it’s safe, and no one will hurt you, but it’s safe for us as well.” They all nodded, and we led them to the pack house.
We had them sit around the large meeting room table. It would be a neutral place with enough room. I sat in one chair with my mates on either side, and they all stayed close together. I watched each of them, and I could tell they were still wary, but as they had said, they were probably constantly in danger of being killed simply because of what they were.
“I had thought that the Andalonians and Ilonians had always been enemies, but as my own father is a wolf and vampire hybrid, who’s species had always been at odd as well, I can see how more Romeo and Juliet situations have been happening all over the place, and due to so much prejudice and stupid fucking people, it became hard for you guys to know where you fit.”
“It’s more of a they don’t want us to fit, and they kill the hybrids they find. We used to have a bigger group, but over the years, they have picked us off. We are currently the only ones we know of still alive, but there could be more out there that we are not aware of. “
“Well, fuck, that is messed up. So, why did you guys come to me?” I was dying of curiosity.
“We want you to help us go public.” I sat there and honestly didn’t know what to say.
