Chapter 130

Chapter 130

"It won't come to that. If things get really bad, I'll cover this meal." Ethan crossed his legs, giving Rachel a compliment while taking a dig at Kevin. "It's just $100,000. What's the big deal?"

"You think making $100,000 is easy?" Rachel shot Ethan a cold look, her eyes full of disdain.

Ethan squirmed under her gaze. He coughed awkwardly and said, "Why wouldn't it be?"

Rachel snapped, "Just because it's easy for you doesn't mean it's easy for everyone else."

Unable to argue with Rachel, Ethan turned his attention to the menu.

Kevin gave Ethan a cold look.

Ever since Ethan arrived, Rachel's attention had been entirely on him, leaving Kevin feeling neglected.

Kevin couldn't accept being treated this way, looking at Rachel with displeasure.

Rachel was confused but still looked at Kevin with innocent, bright eyes.

Kevin's expression hardened as he glanced at Rachel. "Don't look at me like that."

"Why not? You're so handsome, why can't I look?" Rachel propped her chin and blinked.

From Kevin's angle, it was easy to guess what Rachel was thinking.

She just didn't want him to order that $100,000 foie gras.

"The food will be here soon. Begging won't help." Kevin's words were firm.

Rachel's cheeks puffed up in anger, her brows furrowed as she looked at Kevin. "Why did you order such expensive foie gras?"

"Didn't you say you were treating? I can order whatever I want!" Kevin's eyes darkened, his tone heavy.

Rachel turned her face away, crossing her arms in frustration. "I won't allow that!"

"No backing out now. You promised to treat." Kevin's brows furrowed as he glanced at Rachel with displeasure.

The waiter began bringing out the dishes.

Once the food was served, Kevin picked up his utensils and cut into the foie gras, adding some high-end caviar on top.

After preparing his bite, Kevin took a deliberate, loud chew, seemingly to provoke Rachel.

Rachel remained silent, deciding to hold back her anger—the $100,000 was already spent, her anger was pointless.

Then she began to eat the foie gras.

The foie gras, combined with the caviar, was incredibly delicious.

It was the first time Rachel had tasted something so exquisite.

Her expression softened as she glanced at the remaining foie gras, finding it quite good.

However, thinking about its price, she began to feel bitter. No matter how delicious it was, $100,000 was still too much, right?

Across from her, Ethan didn't have much of an appetite.

He was there to keep an eye on Rachel and Kevin.

But seeing Rachel eat made his heart melt.

Rachel had no idea that Ethan was watching her eat foie gras with sweet fantasies in his mind.

After finishing her portion, she realized that the $100,000 foie gras was quite small.

She couldn't help but curl her lips, picking up some caramelized nuts.

There were also toast and fruit slices as side dishes.

Rachel spread some caviar on the toast and then added a bit of fruit jam.

After finishing everything, she found it no different from homemade food, yet each item was priced like a luxury.

"This place is a total rip-off. I'm definitely filing a complaint!" Rachel's eyes narrowed as she glared at Kevin.

The waiter approached politely. "Is there something wrong with the service?"

Rachel gave the waiter a cold look. "No, the service is fine. I just think your prices are outrageous. Did the goose bathe in ginseng every day to grow up? Why is foie gras so expensive?"

The waiter bowed and explained, "This goose was fed special feed, which made it grow exceptionally well. The feed's ingredients are quite costly."

Rachel's expression hardened as she looked at the waiter coldly. "So it costs $100,000?"

The waiter maintained their politeness. "The foie gras is of exceptional quality, combined with superb cooking techniques. The caviar is a rare variety, and the other ingredients are top-notch, which is why it's so expensive. We hope you understand."

Rachel crossed her arms, feeling angry.

But she had already eaten, so refund was not optional.

Rachel glared coldly at Kevin, who was still lounging in his chair.

Kevin noticed Rachel's gaze. He squinted and smiled. "Are you really upset about this?"

"I'm not mad at you. I just think there's no need to eat such expensive food. Kevin, I'm warning you, I'm your mother now. You can't be so wasteful in the future!"

Kevin's eyes darkened as he looked at Rachel.

He scoffed and ignored Rachel's words.

Rachel was infuriated. "I'm talking to you! Are you listening?"

"If you have time to lecture me, why not reflect on yourself?" Kevin sneered.

Rachel looked up, puzzled. "Reflect on what?"

"Think about whether your words are a bit ridiculous." Kevin's voice was cold.

Rachel snapped, "How are my words ridiculous? Aren't they true?"

Kevin said calmly, "I grew up in an environment where I could get anything I wanted, anytime."

Back then, he might have had such thoughts.

But one day, he realized that no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't overcome the class barrier.

He felt that the resources he could easily obtain now were his skills and abilities.

Standing at this height, Kevin couldn't maintain that mindset anymore.

Maybe a few years ago, he could have endured hardships with Rachel, striving to climb higher.

But now, he wouldn't. He just wanted to enjoy what he had earned.

Seeing Kevin's cold eyes, Rachel's breath caught.

She felt that Kevin had changed, a lot. A mix of sourness and swelling hit her.

She never imagined Kevin would change this much.
