CHAPTER 130: His he back?
CHAPTER 130: His he back?
SELENA
“That wouldn’t be so nice of you, Adam… trying to steal my woman.”
Stephen’s voice sliced through the tension like a blade, sharp and accusing. My heart skipped. I didn’t need to turn around to know who had spoken. That tone possessive, cold, lethal belonged only to him.
Fear prickled my skin as I slowly faced him. No… please don’t let him have heard everything.
“I told him I’m not leaving your side,” I said quickly, my voice trembling despite how hard I tried to sound calm. My fingers curled against my dress, the fabric offering little comfort.
Stephen didn’t touch me. He didn’t need to. His presence was enough to make me feel caged. Though he hadn’t hurt me in a while, the memory of what he had done what he was capable of lived under my skin like scars that refused to fade.
He didn’t look at me. His cold gaze was locked on Adam.
They stood feet apart, but it felt like the whole room shrunk with the tension between them. Two brothers. One room. And me caught in the middle like always.
“Tell me, cousin,” Stephen’s voice was low, dangerous, “what brings you to my pack? You do remember I could kill you, right?”
Adam didn’t flinch. He stepped forward, lips curled in a calm, smug smirk. “I don’t think I owe you an explanation.”
My pulse jumped.
“Please,” I whispered, moving to Stephen’s side, gripping his arm. “I belong to you. Now and forever. I’m not leaving.”
I said the words for him. For peace. For safety.
Adam, please. I reached for him through the mind-link, my voice trembling even in thought. Just go. Don’t start something you can’t win.
Why? His reply came instantly, his tone quiet, steady but I could feel the edge of frustration buried beneath it. You said he treats you well. So why are you still afraid of him?
I swallowed hard, my heart pounding so loud it almost drowned out the link. Because… whenever you’re near, something inside him snaps. You make him lose control, Adam. You make him dangerous.
He exhaled, and the weight of his sigh pressed against my chest. Then I’ll leave. For you. But if anything ever happens… you know how to find me, right?
I know. My fingers curled into fists at my sides, the ache in my chest nearly unbearable. But I’m okay. Go to your mate. Fix what’s broken. You deserve to be happy, Adam.
I severed the connection before he could answer.
His eyes caught mine across the room. In that brief, final look, I saw everything he wanted to say regret, longing, love. Then the softness faded, and his gaze shifted to Stephen, sharp as a blade.
“Don’t get too comfortable, cousin,” Adam said aloud, his voice laced with venom. “This isn’t over. I might still take her from you.”
Stephen stepped forward with a smile that didn’t reach his eyes, his aura crackling with territorial rage. “Let’s see you try.”
Adam didn’t flinch. But then he turned and walked out, slow and deliberate. The air felt colder once he is out of sight.
Stephen pivoted to face me. His expression was unreadable too still, too controlled.
“Were you flirting with him?”
The question dropped like a knife between us.
My throat tightened. “No. Never.” I forced the words out. “I told you I’m yours.”
He stared at me for a long, hard moment, as if trying to decide whether to believe me. The tension in the room pressed down like a storm ready to break.
And then he moved.
His hand curled around my wrist tight, but not bruising as he pulled me against him. His mouth crushed mine in a kiss that wasn’t about love. It never was. It was about claiming. Owning. Warning.
His lips were fierce, his grip unyielding. I didn’t fight him. I’d learned not to. My body knew the rhythm by now. Knew how to respond. Knew that resistance would only feed the darkness in him.
And worse… part of me responded.
Shame burned beneath my skin, but still I kissed him back. Let him take what he thought was his. Let him taste the fear and surrender in me.
When he finally pulled away, I staggered slightly, catching my breath like I’d come up from drowning.
He didn’t smile. Instead, his hand slid to my throat thumb brushing the mark he’d left on me long ago.
“Don’t forget,” he whispered against my ear, his voice a quiet storm. “You belong to me.”
I closed my eyes, swallowing the tears that threatened.
“I won’t forget,” I whispered.
How could I?
Every inch of me bore his name.
