Chapter 67

Daniel: I'm on my way.

That was the message Samantha had received from Daniel while she was in the changing room.

She did not respond to Daniel and simply put her phone in her bag. She had already changed from her working uniform to her casual clothes and was already making her way to the door and getting out of the changing room so that she could wait for Daniel outside of her workplace. But before she could even fully exit the changing room, Elsa and some of her co-workers came barging in as if they did not see her, making her take a few steps back.

“Is the word excuse me a hard thing for you people to say? Or was it not included in your vocabulary?” She couldn't help but ask when Elsa and her minions just walked past her while laughing and chitchatting.

Elsa and her minions immediately became quiet. And as if they had the same mind and thinking, they all moved in unison, turning around to face her.

Elsa was raising her brows while looking at her, while the rest of her minions behind her had mocking expressions on their faces, which irritated Samantha so much.

“What did you just say?” Elsa asked with a sharp tone.

Samantha balled her fists. And with her head raised high, she strongly answered Elsa. “I was asking you and your minions whether the words excuse me are such a hard thing for you all to not be able to say, or was it not included in your vocabulary?”

One of Elsa's minions interjected. “So now you suddenly know how to fight back. What happened to the weak and meek Samantha?”

Samantha wanted to snort.

Weak and meek? Surely, she's pretty confident that those words are not and will never be the words to use to describe her personality.

She wasn't weak or meek. She was simply holding back because she didn't want more trouble while she was still deciding how to proceed with their plan. But now that she has already made up her mind on what to do next, she won't be holding back anymore. She’s had enough of Elsa and her minion’s bullying—persecuting her, tormenting her, and pushing her around.

“Since when did I become weak? Does not going down your level make me look like a weakling? If that was the case, I guess I cannot argue with that,” Samantha answered, which made Elsa’s minion’s faces go sour.

“And what do you mean by that, huh?” Another one of Elsa’s minions asked; her voice sounded sharp. Then another one of Elsa’s minions interjected, “And how dare you talk about levels when you are clearly below us?”

Samantha couldn’t help but laugh sarcastically at what her co-worker had said. “Below you? I am below you?” Samantha took a pause and shook her head in disbelief before she settled her gaze at Elsa’s minions. “You’ve got to be kidding me. I am below you? Honestly, that’s one of the funniest jokes I have ever heard in my entire existence.” She was even grinning, an indication that she was mocking her co-workers.

Her co-worker’s eyes widened, and their sour face turned into a face full of rage. “You bi–”

“I don’t know what kind of delusions you are having, but as far as I am concerned, none of you have been promoted, which means we still have the same job positions with the same amount of salary. So what made you all think that I was below all of you? And in the first place, I wasn’t even talking about our job positions, but your attitudes and personalities. I am not a good-natured person, but I can confidently say that my personality is definitely better than the rest of you. After all, I don’t bully someone and would gang up on her with the others just because she is getting attention that I couldn’t. That’s some major childish behavior, you know?”

Samantha couldn’t describe the faces of her co-workers anymore. But Samantha was sure of one thing: they are hella mad. And to prove that, the co-worker who was spouting about her being below them raised her hand to slap her face. But before her hand could land on her face, Samantha had already stopped it by grabbing her raised hand. And with a sharp gaze and voice that held danger in it, she said, “Don’t you dare lay your hand on me,” and with violence in her actions, she let go of that co-worker's hand, shocking the people around them, including Elsa.

With her eyes widening, Elsa finally spoke again. “You!”

“I what?” Samantha snapped. She couldn't stop herself from spouting all her displeasures anymore. She didn't care about how Elsa, whose job position is higher than hers, would react. She was never afraid of her in the first place and was simply being careful not to lose her job. With her head held high again and her grave voice, her attention was focused on Elsa once again. “Are you going to tell me that what I just did is grounds for disciplinary action? Well, go on, then. Tell HR about what just happened. Lie to them, tell them I am the one who started the fight, and convince them to fire me. After all, that's what all of you are intending to do, isn't it? You wanted to kick me out of here. But,” her gaze went to every single minion of Elsa before settling it on Elsa again, “don't expect me to just take it. Because this time, I won't back down. You want to drag me down? Then I'll fucking drag all of you down with me. So try me. Just try me, and I'll show you how I do things my way.” And with one last look at each of Elsa and her co-workers, Samantha finally turned around and made her way out of the changing room, ignoring all the stares that her co-workers, whom she didn't know were listening from outside the changing room, were giving her. And one of those who were staring at her was Jennifer.
