125. Congratulations

Ophelia POV

What time is it? I thought rolling over to look around. The room was pitch black and I could see nothing. Fox had to have closed the drapes because I could see nothing. I wobbled getting out of the bed. My body was stiff and sore. I flipped the bathroom light on and saw all the dried blood on me. I snorted at my reflection. I looked ridiculous my blond hair was matted in places with dried blood.

I flipped the bathroom shower on and waited for the water to get hot. Once in I let the hot water pound over my body. I let it massage my sore muscles and watching in fascination as I saw the blood washing away down the drain. I took a long shower. Much longer than it needed to be. I was clean no doubt, but I remained leaning against the wall. I felt dizzy. It had to be the stress and the exhaustion of it all, it was catching up to me.

My legs felt like Jello; it was the heat. I told myself it was all the steam in the hot shower. I could have turned off the water I knew that, so why was I opening the door to the shower. Why was my head not thinking clearly. The steam rushed out all around me and I felt disoriented at the change in temperature as I let the steam out.

My held felt like it was swimming, the room was it spinning? No that made no sense. I felt my weak legs give out and felt the hard smack of tile as I feel out of the shower and onto the floor. I was tired before I even got in here and now it felt like sleep was beckoning me once again. Why was I not getting up, there had to be a reason, oh right I was tired, I tried to rationalize, but my mind felt jumbled.

Maybe I should close my eyes, sleep would be good. I told myself. I saw feet in front of me and the best face in the world was looking down on me. But that beautiful face looked worried. I was so tired. He would take care of me. He would watch over me as I slept. My eyes felt heavy again. “Ophelia baby?” He was calling me baby now? Why was Fox calling me that. “My little psycho you have to stay awake. Okay you have to keep those beautiful blue eyes open for me, okay can you do that?” I tried to do what he asked.

I always tried my best to do what he asked. I always wished to please him; it was second nature, but my body was fighting my will. I didn’t know if I could stay awake for him if he wanted. I didn’t feel like anything was wrong other than my own sleepiness. There was nothing wrong with sleep. It was the best medicine for one's body. He wouldn’t fault me too bad for just sleeping just for a second.

Fox POV

I had let Ophelia sleep she seemed so tired more than I thought was normal, but she had been torturing the guy in the guest room all night and the night before she had done the simulation at Caden’s estate outside the city. I had begun to clean up when she didn’t wake up for 12 hours. I knew she probably wanted to dissect the body herself, but the body would not stay in that condition forever and as her sleep seemed more important for her, I had called the cleaning crew I had. I made sure the head was saved wrapped up and put in our freezer for the mean time.

I had checked on Ophelia several times, but she had still been sleeping so I let her rest. I was relieved when I popped my head in and saw she was not in the bed, and I could hear the shower going. Oh, good she was up, I planned to have her several more times before I went and got a gang member for us to string up like the fake cop had been. I began to pull out some things, I figured my little psycho would be hungry when she finished her shower. If we were going to go another several rounds in the sheets she would need some substance.

I finished with the food and noticed Ophelia still had not emerged from our room. What was taking so long? I waited a little while longer and still Ophelia had not come out. Was something wrong? I walked back to the room and into the bathroom to see what was going on. The door to the bathroom was cracked and steam was rolling out of the door. That wasn’t right.

The steam usually stayed in the shower; I moved quickly a pit forming in my stomach thinking something was wrong. I pushed open the door to the bathroom and I leaped into action. The bathroom was full off steam because the shower door was open despite the water still coming out of the faucet but my little psycho, she was laying naked on the floor. Blood was pooling out of her head. I kneeled by her side. “Ophelia” I said and though her eyes where open she looked like she was in a daze, did she not hear me. “Ophelia Baby?” I said.

Her eyes flicked to mine; she formed a soft smile. Why was she not saying anything? What was happening? Was she dying why was she not saying anything. I saw the blood all around her head. Her eyes began to droop. “My little psycho you have to stay awake. Okay you have to keep those beautiful blue eyes open for me, okay can you do that?” She looked like she would try for all of a second and then she closed them. Fucking hell, no, no I was not going to lose her to a fall in the shower. That was not how she was going to go. She was destined to go up in a blaze of glory with me at her side, or die in my arms at the age of 100  in our sleep. She was not going to die from a fall in the fucking shower.

I checked her pulse, and it was there. I didn’t want to leave her, but I had to call a fucking ambulance. It felt like an eternity when I buzzed them into the private elevator, and they took her from me. I wouldn’t leave her though. I hauled into the ambulance with her. The ride was quick, and I was grateful this had happened at the penthouse, and I was closer to a hospital in the city.

They rushed her off the ambulance and I followed them as the wheeled her away. I was stopped from following. Again, it seemed like an eternity until someone came out to meet me. I was so worried I didn’t fucking care that her doctor had been a man and seen her in the naked state she was brought in.

All I kept seeing was her soft smile she gave me and the blood that had pooled all around her head on the bathroom tile. “Mr. Valentine?” I nodded. “Is she? Is she okay?” I didn’t care that I sounded worried. I knew it was weakness I was showing but I had never seen her like that. Sure, I had seen her beaten to a pulp, thanks to that fucking shithead Sergio, but after that she still had look of violence in her. At the penthouse she looked small and weak I had never seen that from her.

“Ms. Blake is just fine, Mr. Valentine. I know it may have looked like a lot of blood, but it was not a significant loss.” What did he know he had not seen her there on the bathroom floor. “Really she didn’t even need a transfusion, just a few stitches.” “So, she will be okay, that is what you are saying right?” He smiled broadly. Why was he smiling at me like that? Ophelia was hurt and her doctor was fucking smiling? I wanted to ring his neck, “Why the fuck are you smiling?” I said as calmly as I could manage but my malice in my voice was still evident. “Miss Blake, she is pregnant, it is why she passed out,” He paused as my mouth fell open. “What she can’t be, she has an IUD” I said, and he nodded, “Yeah well these things do happen, but congratulations, do you want me to take you to your fiancé?” He asked and I just nodded silently, completely in shock.
